- Evolutionary psychology is a theoretical approach in psychology that examines cognition and behavior from a modern evolutionary perspective. It seeks to identify human psychological adaptations with regards to the ancestral problems they evolved to solve. In deep conversation with Rahul Dewan, Edward Dutton evaluates Islam from the perspective of evolutionary psychology and the factors affecting a person's Intelligence Quotient, a number used to express the relative intelligence of a person. According to him the ethnocentric societies, by making sure their kids are not highly imtelligent, make them highly instinctive. Low intelligence corresponds to having more children. Overtly religious education and lack of scientific knowledge in turn makes them less adaptive and depend on Will of God.
About the Speaker:
Edward Dutton is Adjunct Professor of the Anthropology of Religion at Oulu University in Finland and an independent scholar.
He is ex-editor-in-chief of the journal Mankind Quarterly and calls himself the Jolly Heretic on social media. Dutton has a degree in Theology from Durham University and a PhD in religious studies from the University of Aberdeen.
Later Dutton made the move to evolutionary psychology. Since then, Dutton has published in leading psychology journals including Intelligence, and Personality and Individual Differences. He runs a popular internet channel, The Jolly Heretic, in which he explores daring scientific research. Dutton is the author of many books, most recently, Witches, Feminism, and the Fall of the West (2021), Islam: An Evolutionary Perspective (2020) and Churchill’s Headmaster: The 'Sadist’ Who Nearly Saved the British Empire (2019).

India has the Gothra system for selection of spouses. Which for generations ensured no inbreeding. Not caste system. Jati is vocations based. Varna is mobility of society.
Despite those systems, desis marry too close to their genes. U need to look well beyond people that r in d near by villages area, which is what they usually do. My parents married because their villages were only like 50 miles apart. But that’s still too close. U need to go into different states, like gujjus marrying marathis or beyond and like Punjabis marrying Biharis or Odis. THAT is required. But desis don’t go that far. And that’s causing great many issues.

Here in Belgium I find it difricult to have conversations about this because people usually reject any evidence that isnt from their own country. They just say: "Why do you care what's happening in the UK? That has nothing to do with us."
It would be immensely helpful if I could show them that this is actually prevalent in our own country.

It seems to me the Western scholars are pretty much in the dark about Sanatan social customs. To them every aspect of our lives here boils down to a SINGLE theory: The Caste system. Really remiss of them to be ignorant scholars.

Some r. The genetic component, where there’s people marrying closer to their gene pool in india is a fact. It’s been proven via dna research. In fact there r many diseases that r common in India because there’s people marrying too close to their gene pool where both parents carry d problematic genes, and guarantee their kids to have those diseases. They need to travel well beyond their village areas and go into other states if they wanna find people that r different enough to develop healthy gene pool. He’s not wrong about that part.

Biggest reason for screwing Indian intelligence in public life is the unbridled system of reservations in education and jobs that benefits the undeserving over the meritorious. This is one of the main reasons for flight of intelligent people from the country. The biggest beneficiary of this is Hindus coming from SC ST OBC quotas, so stop blaming the Muslims for everything. One could even argue that they are smarter, having carved two exclusive nations out of undivided India, and still retaining their character of being the pampered and aggressive minority they are in truncated India, irrespective of who the ruling party is.
