- VICE News has obtained footage taken from the headcam of an Islamic State (IS) fighter who died in March while battling Kurdish peshmerga troops in northern Iraq. The clash took place about 30 miles north of Mosul.
Unlike IS propaganda, which often presents sweeping battlefield victories, the video shows chaos, panic, and the fighters retreating.
VICE News shows the grim reality of an IS foot soldier.

Year 2023 and here I am again. After careful analysis, Abu hajaar got that strategic thinking in war. He remained silly to keep his comrades calm in battle thus, prevent them from being afraid of death. Panicking is part of his plan to instill or keep the communication within the group.

Imagine leaving your family, job, friends behind, traveling around the world to join isis and ending up with guy like Abu Hazar.
They get brainwashed by the heads of the organizations who take the teachings of islam and change their interpretation so they get what they want. Islam is a relegion of peace. ISIS exploits the uneducated poor people by citing wrong/made up verses of the Quran to make them believe that they should kill all non believers when in reality the Quran states the complete opposite. This happens extremely often especially with desperate people in the middle east who have no way out and when they are presented with this made up solution about dying for a fake cause that's created by some foreign government for personal gain they accept it as they dont want their life to have been pointless. I hope this helps clear confusion as to why people join stuff like these organizations and literally devote and sacrifice their life to it.

Idk how this would be translated to English but basically theres people elected to decipher the Quran and tell us what it means. They are called "the azhar". These people are seasoned experts with tons of knowledge about the relegion, its history, and the arabic language. The quran is very complicated and not just anyone can read it and understand what it means. This is why these experts read it and sort of decipher its meaning. This is where a lot of the confusion happens. Anyone could just take the Quran read it, misunderstand it because they're too ignorant to understand the complex form of writing that's in it and then make their own personal interpretation of it. This is why theres many branches of islam. They are people who strayed from the original book and formed their own ones with different rules. This is how they take advantage of people. They cite wrong I formation from altered or as they call it "simplified" versions of the Quran to trick people into thinking god is asking them to kill themselves and be instantly granted access into heaven. This is completely false under the original writing of the Quran that prophet muhammed spread around when he was alive. The quran almost literally states that suicide will instantly send you to hell and yet they still strap themselves with bombs and run into battle fully knowing that they're killing themselves. Summary: isis is an organization created to alter the politics of the middle east while using their own version of "islam" to justify why they fo what they do.

So much so that there is a video in which 3 ISIS soldiers get on a truck and go to the area of a 50-man Peshmerga army with a loud ISIS march. Soldiers run around as they hear the anthem
The quality of their troops and their level of training and organization varied enormously over time. By 2016 many of their best soldiers were already dead after years of fighting and total control of the skies by US/UK and allied air forces.
In 2013/2014, when ISIS was rampaging through Iraq and Syria, they had a dedicated cadre of motivated and well-trained fighters, while also backed up by more expendable recruits from villages and from abroad. It was typically those fighters who would be sent on suicide missions like the one we see here. An uncoordinated mobile assault, in barely armoured vehicles, with little fire support, on what were likely fortified Kurdish positions was only going to end one way. They were possibly trying to buy time for more experienced units to retreat back into Mosul and fortify the city, which they were able to do, making that battle last far longer than anyone expected.

I watched this video years ago and was overcome by the hilarity of it all, despite the gravity of the situation. Rewatching it now all I can think is: Why are they picking on Abu Hajaar?
Like, he is clearly doing by far the most work, keeping the enemy supressed and laying down good covering fire. Yes he has a minor slip-up at 2:25 but, for the most part he is keeping the MG controlled and is laying down some much needed supressive shots.
