- Isaac Lee Hayes Jr. (August 20, 1942 - August 10, 2008) was an American singer, actor, songwriter, and composer. He was one of the creative forces behind the Southern soul music label Stax Records, where he served both as an in-house songwriter and as a session musician and record producer, teaming with his partner David Porter during the mid-1960s. Hayes and Porter were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005 in recognition of writing scores of songs for themselves, the duo Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, and others. In 2002, Hayes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. - Wikipedia

This music you can feel it, it brings back memories, when black people were more together as Brothers & Sisters✌🏽
Surround sound is the only way to listen to Issac Hayes...his voice goes to your soul ☺️

💕 Back in 1969 and after seeing The Jackson 5ive perform this song, Earvetta, Yolanda and I performed on this version at the Talent show in elementary school…yes ! We won 1st place !
Wow that was better then Dionne's original version.. l always go for the original version of many records... but this was an exception! My older brother had many Issac Hayes albums.. that's how l knew of him and his many talents Appreciate!
No offense his version of The Look of Love was better too.
One of my favorite song.
This sounds ahead of its time for 1969.
By the time I get to Phoenix, by Isaac Hayes, was killer. I think that his version of never can say goodbye was the best. 😎
Yes
I like his version too.
I stand accused.
His version has ALWAYS been my fav version! ..and I LOVE the video they put together for this in the 90s, for the movie, "Dead Presidents"
Yesss!! I always immediately think of that movie anytime I hear this playing.
Along with Curtis, Otis and Brown, Hayes was the man.
Love Isaac Hayes's music. The way this starts off it looks like they're in an old school laundromat I think that's cool within itself. Love the background singers Hot Buttered and Soul also.😍👌🏽
Yessss
One of all Times best
Simply timeless

THE BLACKSTONES
Isaac Hayes was an incredibly talented performer.
Wow....what a time capsule. A very unusual rendition of that ubiquitous mid century modern song.
A great song, a very smooth performance and the background singers/dancers coolness really helped sell it. Right on
Deep resonance in his voice.
Love this version.
The set and clothes etc take me back.
Thanks for the memory recovery videos.😉😄🌹❤️💯

I lost a lot of respect for Isaac Hayes when I found out he was a Scientologist. Still a legend, but that Scientology shit rubs me the wrong way.
