I am not sure if as many people could afford a 2 rupee cutlet back in the 50s. But things are more affordable now. One of the best aspect of Kolkata is that people from every corner of India feel welcome to build their lives in the city! Great Episode Foodka!
Calcutta beats in our hearts... every lane that you traversed... reminded me of the what it is be a ‘true blue Calcuttan’ despite being miles away from it.
I simply love the way you present the stories. I never miss your episodes.
Now that I think about it....the last lines were so true...temples and mosques that we think of being so sacred divide us while places like restaurants, pubs and stadiums unite us...those are the places where we truly forget our cast , Creed and religion ...those places are lot more sacred than temples or mosques.

Loved the rhyming of 'mustard' n 'custard'. Only a hugely talented Mir can pull off such rhymings.
Btw excellent video on Trincas' journey for which Indrajit n Mir deserve kudos. Rounding off the session with Harivansh Rai Bachchan's powerful lines from 'Madhushala' by Mir added gravitas to the narration on the most secular place in Kolkata : "Bair karaate mandir masjid, mel karaati madhushala"

Of all the fancy restaurants and the dazzling lights, we are waiting for the vibrant colours of kolkata, namely the heritage yet not so costly and the restaurants and street food more reachable to the masses of kolkata and not just the cream of the society.
