    Hey Gareth I Know that you don’t Know me but you made a Great change in my life. I am currently working in Germany in a company where I was able to introduce airtable. Your tutorial videos and your Tipps always helped me a big deal. Thank you so much for your work and thank you for spreading the word about airtable. I feel like the software is not getting the credit it deserves yet. Anyways I wish you the best day and hope to see you in many more videos down the road! :)

      Wow - what a great message. Thank you for taking the time to write this! I agree that Airtable still has a LOT of growth in front of it. Wishing you the best in your endeavors!

    I'd highly recommend using Clicksend over Twilio. It's got a free trial, free credit and costs 60% less. I've been trialing it for a few weeks now and it's rock solid.

    Hi, I have one project. Step 1: A form for customer to fill in some personal info Step 2: the form info will send to a 3rd party through api; Step 3: Then the endpoint will send a PDF to the email that is filled in the form. This this the original business model. However, I am not willing to reveal customer's email because they will bomb with ads mailing. So I will preferred to let them send to my own email box (or something like Dropbox etc). How I can design the flow with Airtable and be sure the email is delivering to the correct customer's email? Thanks

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  Před 3 lety

      So for step #1, you can build a form for the customer to fill out. When they do, it will create a new record in Airtable.
      Step #2: use a PDF software to generate the PDF automatically based on the data that was received in step #1. Upload this PDF to the same record in Airtable.
      Step #3: send an email to yourself or send to a folder in Google Drive/Dropbox/etc. with the PDF as an attachment.
      Hope this helps!

      @@GarethPronovost For the step2, can you recommend a PDF software? And how to upload the PDF to the same record automatically? I know how to do them separately, but not sure how to do them in 2 steps and secure as the "same" record automatically.

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  Před 3 lety

      @@thinkastro8688 Sure - you can create automatic PDFs with Google, FormStack, Docupilot, and PandaDocs. I use FormStack, but it's not cheap.
      You can use Zapier to build an automation to upload the created document to the Airtable record. You automation for step 2 would be a trigger from Airtable, that then creates the document in your software of choice, than then uploads the created document back to the record in Airtable.

    Hey Gareth I have a question for you. I have 100 revolving clients every 3 months that go through 5 stages. 20 clients at stage 1 get one message, 20 clients at stage 2 get another message etc.. can you send a link to a video that you may have that shows how to set this up for texting? Thanks to your videos I was able to switch from WordPress (Huge P.O.S.) in half a day following your tutorials!Thanks again.

    Hi Gareth, I love all your videos. Just getting to know Airtable and you've really helped shorten my learning curve. With sending out text, if I have lots of different messages for different scenarios in my business, would it be easier to have a separate messages table and a send text Junction table rather than using a switch formula?

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  Před 3 lety +1

      Glad these are helpful! You can certainly make a junction table with the different messages - this is probably easier if you have a large number of different message templates. If you only have a handful of messages, it's probably easier to manage them with the SWITCH formula - totally up to you!

    What about receiving a reply to the text sent out? For instance, if you used text magic or twilio and in the message sent out was a yes or no answer, would there be a way to see that reply in a log or a email? Thanks, your videos are making me look like a genius at work.

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  Před 3 lety +1

      Ha! Happy to help you look good at work! 💪
      Depending on your plan with Twilio or TextMagic, you will get varying levels of access to this phone number. In most cases, you can forward those messages to your phone. You can also build automations that take responses and update information in Airtable (for example, if they response "YES" then you can update their profile data in the database).
      Hope this helps!

    Hi Gareth! Thanks a lot for all the work you have done! One more question: Is it possible to have a mail merge ?? (is it right?). I try to explain. Can I print from LibreOffice/Word a lot of same documents changing only the record of the address picking from airtable?? is there, maybe, your youtube video?

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Corrado! Yes you can do a mail merge and create documents based on Airtable data. You may opt to explore the Page Designer App (it's built directly in Airtable for Pro plans), but it does not SEND the documents automatically. So, my preference has been to use a third party tool. FormStack is my current choice - we pass data from Airtable, create unique documents from our template, and even submit them for e-signature).

    Gary, thank you for these videos. very helpful. I am trying to get some info through lookups but haven't found a way to trigger the linked record field automatically when the record is created. can you point me in the right direction ?

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  Před 3 lety

      Hi Liam, do you need to automatically link a record when it is created? If so, you can build an automation with that specification - Use a newly created record as your trigger event, and link it to the record you need to as your action event. Just make sure to use the record ID for the linked relationship!

  • @leandromedeiros2720

    Thanks for the explanations. I had some doubts. Is there the possibility of sending sms via twillo automatically? how would it be?
    The other is: If I have already sent an SMS to the people on the grid, how should I do it so that it is not sent again?
    that is, the message would be sent only to new entries.

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  Před 3 lety

      Yes, you can send to sms via twilio automatically. Build an automation with Zapier or Integromat that watches for records in Airtable that match your "send" conditions. Then send the message via Twilio. For your second question, just make sure the trigger to send excludes those records you've already sent to. For example, you can check a box after sending texts to make sure you don't resend to those records

    Is there a way to automatically send a Slack message, say on the day something is due or if it is late?

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  Před 3 lety

      Yes indeed, you can build this automation within Airtable's automation feature once you've connected it with your slack account/channel

    Are there any options to reply to texts thru Airtable?

    • @GarethPronovost

      You could set up an automation to allow you to type a reply in Airtable and then send it through Twilio or another text platform, most definitely!
