Jaye McBride has performed stand-up all over the country, sharing the stage with stars like Aziz Ansari & Jim Norton. In addition to stand-up, Jaye has written, produced and acted in a variety of short films. When not performing on-stage or on-screen Jaye hosts “Planet Funny Radio” on iHeart radio and writes “The Comedy Blog” for the Albany’s Times Union.
Having transitioned in 2007, Jaye is uniquely qualified to talk about awkward first dates, strained family relationships and self- acceptance. Make no mistake though, Jaye McBride is not a gimmick or one-trick pony. She is one genuinely funny lady!

I can't believe I only found this person today. I'm already her biggest fan. She really is an incredibly gifted truth-teller. We (trans, cis...all of society) need more people like Jaye McBride. The world is better off because of her. Speaking as a fellow trans person, I'd like to tell her "thank you".

I was fortunate to be in the audience for this talk. Jaye was amazing, and has gone on to even more success in her world, comedy. She uses humor to blow up your misconceptions--love that!

I knew at 5 yrs of age but hid it until I was 18, and when I told my parents, they threw me out. I learned stealth that day and its value for survival. Their argument was this life style is a non productive dead end. I have endured the subjective dysphoria to the point that it too has become a tool of mastery over the negative aspects of my condition. I feel like Papillon after having jumped off the cliff into the ocean, to escape his prison looks up and shouts, "I'm still here you bastards!".
"We need less martyrs and more fighters" - powerful truth right there.

This girl is hilarious. If you can watch this and not giggle with her then you are the one with a problem. Every time I see Leelah Alcorns photo my heart breaks. That poor kid. Hopefully she’s at peace.
When she showed those 5 young people and then said they were murdered or committed suicide that really stabbed me in the heart. RIP
And many more have been murdered or committed suicide since 2015. I think the rate has actually risen since then.
Gosh, I am so sorry to hear about these deaths. So sad. Acceptance is so important. I am a cis gender woman who is learning. And standing up for the trans community..

+umberto smith Researchers once believed that, but data and logic led to the idea of gender dysphoria. Jaye appears to be delighted with her gender identity, so it does not qualify as a disorder. Note that gender non-conformity does NOT qualify as a disorder, either. Some of us are born with parts that don't match our true sense of who we are. It would be unfair to force people to conform simply because of a chance biological event. I think that if you knew Jaye, you would find her warm, intelligent, and completely well-adjusted. The only "disorder" would be if she tried to force herself to be a man when she knew down in her heart that she was not.

+umberto smith You say a woman is feminine via her ability to carry children, but you do realize there are biological women who can not have children.
"until technology makes it biologically possible" yea we past that state like 100 years ago when we learned how to create testosterone and estrogen.
DNA does not define biological gender traits, hormones do to a much larger degree. There are plenty of women with XY and men with XX chromosomes, the different is the hormone they are being exposed with in fetus state. Hence hormones define gender traits, hence it is the treatment for gender dysphoria.
What you probably are getting at is that one needs to have had the biological development to be "allowed" to be a certain gender. I do hope you realize how crazy this is. It is like saying if you where born blind you should always remain blind unless we have the technology to give you fully functioning eyes and an sight adapted brain. You are saying that a blind person with goggles that allow them to see is still blind, it is just cosmetic.
How we move forward is one step at a time.

Here is what I don't get... If trans women Identify themselves as women then surely they can use the men's room by the logic of that.. And if they do, then what's wrong in a man staring at her like we do for any woman.. It's just what it is.. Nature.
Can a man be blamed or branded for looking at someone who comes across as female or feminine! It's nature.
Like she maybe feminine, but don't bring that sense into a male room then blam man for acting naturally.
That's the Idea of segregation anyways.. Isn't it.
Now.. If they look so feminine and good looking, they shouldn't have problem using the women's room, but for some reason women don't want them there " guess they not so accommodating.
Again.. If we men are suppose to accept trans women in, then why not also accept real women in! The so "tair down that wall" right.?
One way forward is to make a mix gender room in the middle, or remove segregation all together
