NYC Subway HD 60fps: Bombardier R62A 7 Semi-Express Train Railfan Window [RFW] Ride (3/23/17)

Because of construction work, mid-day 7 trains were running express between Queensboro Plaza and 74th Street - Jackson Heights. I also wished to test my Panasonic HC-V770 in the hand-held RFW video application. Enjoy the ride =)

I rode this train to and from my stop at Queensboro Plaza for several years as a teenager.
After the train tunnels under the East River and imerges into queens, the view of the glittering and glowing Manhattan skyline at sunset (and after dark) is one of the most indelible memories I have of my former hometown. I wish someone would post a video of that spectacular view.

R46, R62, R68 and R142 are my 4 babies I love working on the R62 not because of making my announcements but I love the door chines as the doors closes. The only new techs I like are the R142 because you program the train when iits moving and the doors are closed.

As a railfan I enjoyed the ride but, the highlight of this ride was seeing Citifield on the left of the screen as the "7" train approached the Willets Point station. I am a Mets fan. :-)

The scrap LIRR trains visible at 13:05 to the lower left are gone as of January 2018...they had been there for years and years.

the NY Subway is by far the slowest system in the known world. it takes an Express train over an hour and 10 minutes to go just 9 miles away.

Do the subway doesn't have cabins? You can hear the passengers clearly.

Most subways in american cities have a small driver's cabin on the right side, while the center window (the "railfan window") is accessible for pessengers. You can see that quite good in this movie clip: czcams.com/video/s-Sx_dMw8oA/video.html

yep, the train behind us was the first local, and the train behind that was the first express of the evening rush period.

The speed is rather slow for a subway system, imo.
