I still rank Karen's contralto angelic voice as spiritually the greatest ever.. BUT HEAR THIS....Linda, besides her stunning voice, was the more versatile and I adore her. I have 2 female singers that speak to my soul snd they are 1A and 1B, Karen and Linda. My God but we were so blessed to grow up with these angels and their incredible talent. Thank you God for the joy Karen and Linda's voice have given me and millions.❤❤❤❤❤😂
The lovely Linda no one can touch her, she was one of the top female artists of the 70's and 80's, she did this live, no auto tune artists don't perform like this anymore. She was a pure musical genius who explored multiple musical genres and was a smashing success in all of them!
Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "When Will I Be Loved", "You're No Good", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Desperado" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs. Also love her collaborations with Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris.
one thing I finally realized about these Reaction videos: we took these singers and artists for granted, and thought nothing of it. And when you see the look on the faces of people who have never heard the work, you realize just how good they really were.
The beautiful, angelic Linda was America’s sweetheart about this time. She was always the complete package, beauty, talent, and she was very smart about her career as well. She could sing any genre, even Opera. Check out her appearance opposite Rex Smith in the “Pirates of Penzance” film of the Gilbert and Sullivan musical. Being very proud of her Hispanic heritage on her father’s side, she’s done albums of traditional Mexican music, show tunes, you name it. So sad that Parkinsons has quieted that incredible instrument, now. I think she still sings privately with members of her family when they gather around her home. She has said she isn’t sad about it because, as a woman, she’d been given a lot in her life, many gifts, and lived a life many women would dream of. She’s been so lucky and blessed in life.
Linda remains a musical goddess to all of us American baby boomers. Willie Nelson once said, "There are two types of men in the world, those with a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her." My crush just celebrated its 52 birthday. Well, now you have heard of her...and from her. Her musical catalog is vast with many hits...and deservedly so. Enjoy! Be well, Duke
Linda Ronstadt’s career was remarkable. She won many Grammys and released copious albums. She grew up in the SW US, Arizona I think. She had Mexican ancestry and grew up singing popular Mexican songs with her family. One of her albums was called Canciones de mi Padre (Songs of my Father). She was even in a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta.
This was a spot on the Glen Campbell show. My only complaint is that they cut an entire verse from the song to meet their time constraints for TV. I watched your face and you seemed genuinely surprised at her lovely voice. She definitely had the most beautiful voice on the planet until it was stolen by a neurological disorder, forcing her to retire in 2009. Her catalogue spans forty years and covers multiple genres. She has won every award and honor imaginable and richly deserved every accolade. Please explore her music and you will never be disappointed. Her live performances are always wonderful. I recommend you watch her live whenever possible. 🌺✌️
I appreciate that you interrupted this song only once, maybe zero times next time. I just love that song. It’s amazing. She’s amazing it’s deceptively simple and the layering of the music gives it a timeless feel. Thank you.
Please note that this version was shortened to fit TV time constraints--there's a verse omitted that adds significantly more emotional impact to the song and of course she handles that beautifully. Treat yourself to the original recording, you deserve to take the complete journey!
as @SGC511 has already said, "There are two types of men in the world. Those who've had a crush on Linda Ronstadt, and those who've never heard of her [yet]." But also following and reiterating what @SGC511 suggested, you really need to see her as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance alongside the incomparable late Tony Azito and, of course, Kevin Klein. Oh, also, you need to see her on the Muppet Show for some of her VERY best performances, probably the BEST Blue Bayou ever done!
Attributed to Willie Nelson - "There are two types of men in the world. Those who've had a crush on Linda Ronstadt, and those who've never heard of her." She was a glorious talent. Her work in Pirates of Penzance was a revelation.
So many different colors to the way she has used her voice. Rock, pop, folk, including mariachi(?) La Charreada, jazz/swing... I love everything she does. Get ready for a beautiful journey.
Back then me, and probably every guy on the planet, was in love with with Linda. She is so beautiful a;d has an incredible voice. You couldn't take your eyes off her.
Linda had such an amazing voice. Like others have said she sang just about every genre from country to opera. Sadly, she lost her singing ability due to Parkinsons but she has left an incredible volume of music.
Linda had an amazing voice - loved her from the first time I heard her back in the early 70's. She could sing the phone book and hold you enthralled. Was lucky enough to see her in concert twice and she was fantastic live as well.
My word, she had the beautiful puppy dog eyes to match that voice! I always wished i could sing like her. A lady that captured hearts like Karen Carpenter.
for a country song listen to live version of I Can't help it if i'm Still in Love with You from Dolly's 70s TV show. Same episode as the Sweetist gift song u listened to.
I used to ride around in my 72 chevy pickup listening to Linda's Retrospective album on my Pioneer 8 track tape player with 6x9 Jensen speakers while I was shooting groundhogs for eating the farmers crops. Many moons ago.
The very first cassette I ever owned was this one from Linda. Yes it was in the early 70s as i recall. I finally wore it out and had to replace with a CD. She had the most beautiful voice for such a long, long time but is no longer able to sing I think due to dementia. Others can tell you better than I. I just know i miss her beautiful singing. Thanks for the memories. ❤😊
Linda Ronstadt will always be my favorite female singer and I’m so glad that I was able to see her in concert twice; you really need to listen to “Lose Again”
It’s almost like she’s holding that vibrato through the entire thing, even when she’s not saying anything. She just sort of goes in loops with her breathing, and YA, it really does sound like she’s crying, or on the verge of tears, sitting in room at night by herself. Gosh! And she looks like she was just a baby practically in this performance . I can’t imagine what it must be like for her now. It must feel like an eagle that had its wings amputated. She has done the world so much good.

This was pretty early in her solo career, and still my absolute favorite of all in her unbelievable career. She was amazing, could sing literally anything she put her mind to, and do it all extremely well. Wait until you see her Mariachi and opera performances.
She looks so young in this, those cheeks and bangs,, she was just a baby! Can you imagine your high school talent show and some shy girl walks onto the stage and does THAT?!! WOW. Now multiply that by 1 million when it comes to how brave she had to be! Thank God she was!! Where in the world would a person be able to practice singing like that?! Certainly NOT my neighborhood. Her version of Blue Bayou was so incredible (1977). Every album was filled with tracks that you couldn't help but listen to over and over. She covered The Eagles 'Desperado', Patsy Cline's 'I Fall to Pieces', 'Crazy', Buddy Holly's "That'll Be the Day' and 'It Doesn't Matter Anymore'. So wonderful to hear her sing this again -- thanks for finding her for another generation to love. Linda was on top of female vocalists for a long, long time, and it's still a tragedy that we have lost her voice on the charts. Love to Linda, love to you for your appreciation of great talent.
Tears and chills Linda. Every boy my age wanted to sing the same words to you. God grant you joy and peace and eternal life.
When we first heard her in the 1970's, the ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL FELL IN LOVE.
She was the best selling female artist for most of the seventies, you will never run out of her songs to react to
You can’t put Linda in a box, cause she blew the damn doors down.
The doors? She blew the whole house down!🥰
LOl... GOOD COME BACK.... I SAY SHE BLEW THE WHOLE STADIUM .. SHE'S BEEN ONE MY FAVS SINCE 1970 WHEN I WAS JUST 12YRS .LOVE IT❤❤❤
Perhaps the best female vocalist of all time, she’s right there. Her “Blue Bayou” will blow you away!
Karen Carpenter, then Linda Ronstadt.
@@chrispavlich9656 Both incredible with different styles. I get why anyone would say Karen 1st.

@@ChuckHackney Amen! We had these two beautiful ladies plus in my opinion the best era of quality, genuine, real music period.
She grabbed my heart with "Different Drum" way back when I was still in High School. Her voice is incredibly precise and POWERFUL.
Listen to her sing " I will always Love You".Thrilling from the very beginning. You will weep for joy.

Linda and Karen Carpenter both mesmerizing and distinctively melodic voices of the 70's.
She could sing anything!
You would really like Linda Ronstadt... When Will I be Loved!!
Her voice was created by listening to her father. The old man introduced her to Mariachi, and that created her style.
I haven't heard this song in years. Yes, it is beautiful.
A song of unrequited love without malice. just an acknowledgement.

Those collaborations were the greatest.🥰
AND a couple of great jazz swing albums with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra!
Don't forget the songs she has done in Spanish. She has Spanish roots with her father.
Did not know about the eagles so cool
Linda was part of the early Eagles.
I thought you were going to talk during the song, but you surprised me. And you had the music louder than your voice. Thank you.
one thing I finally realized about these Reaction videos: we took these singers and artists for granted, and thought nothing of it. And when you see the look on the faces of people who have never heard the work, you realize just how good they really were.
Only someone like Angelina Jordan can fill this women's shoes. For 60 years the best female vocalist on earth.
she put the eagles on the map. They did backup for her.

She was wrongly diagnosed and actually has progressive supranuclear palsy
Linda retired and is 77 years old now and suffers from a progressive palsy but we will always have her and love her for a long long time.
You should absolutely listen to "Desperado" with Linda live with only one piano. It is really wonderful.
Blue Bayou is a great one from Linda. I am 67 yo and back in my youth Linda was everywhere. Sadly she can no longer sing due to Parkinson's disease.
This is a shortened version of the song but she still delivers the emotion.
