      just type 'RV organization' into youtube search bar on top. You will find many many videos. Apply those you like! I think most closet organizing shelves, racks, expansion retaining bars, 3M hooks (ie. hanging baskets you can easily store when you move).
      Just make sure you update your CAT scale info to be sure you aren't over your pin weight or GVWR/axle ratings, etc! It's easy to overload and hard to stop yourself if you go over, in more ways than one! ;-)

    When you revealed two sinks you showed the big sink first and then the small sink. I couldn't help thinking how awesome it would have been if you revealed the small sink first and then the big sink with an Emeril Legasse "BAM!"

    Just putchased a '23 GD 310. Came with a king bed (hard as a rock), so I downsized to an RV queen. Took literally 10 mintutes to cut down the plywood plank and I gained 6+ inches on each side, plus 5" at the foot of the bed.

    Watched your video to the end, will comment on my experience with my 2019 GD, 310. Hope GD reads the comments here on your video?? As a victim of the Paradise Ca. Camp Fire, I needed a place to live asap. I contacted 4 GD dealers, 2 in Ca. 2 in Or. including one that promised to help victim's with lower prices, I ended up with the dealer in Klamath Falls Or. at $10.000 less than the dealer that promised a lower price. Added the "Solar Panels, Covers over the Pop Outs, Washer & Dryer, and a 5500 watt generator"... Dealer in KF was great!!! Yes, GD is the only manufacture that will Guarantee an Warranty there trailers for full time living, that I know of? Wish I had the full body paint job!! Looks great!! Use a splatter guard behind the stove to protect the window shade. Pet drawer should have a slide that can be taken out if not used for pet bowls. There is 7" of waisted space under the trash cans, Put my Costco size box of trash bags under there. Strap for pantry door ripped off first week, just put a door stopper above fridge. Put a nice big clock above the panty door. Put a paper plate holder on inside wall of panty. The tile on the little wall, right of the pantry, fell off 2nd trip, Replaced it with 3" X 6" beveled self sticking title mirrors.(Beautiful) Built a 14 wine bottle rack on the top shelve in the cupboard at the end of the island. Got rid of the dinning chair's, put in 2 bench seats w/storage under them. (VASAGLE Industrial Storage Bench, Shoe Bench with Padded Seat and Metal Shelf), Mine has the carpet, wishing it didn't. The little chair tables are not level enough for a glass of wine, thru mine away!! At both ends of the couch, is wasted dead space, they could have hinged the top to make a small storage compartment. In the control panel, each of the 3 slide-out should be on their own switch!! (Yes, I know about the valves by the propane tank) Bedroom, One of the first things I did was throw the cheap king size mattress away, and put in a good queen bed. Yes, had to cut the base board down. The reading lights above the bed should be closer to the window, more above your head, than out in the middle!! also put on a dimmer would be nice!! Took the metal stops of the closet doors, they were starching the wood frame. Put a L stop bracket on the wall to keep the closet door from smashing an breaking any cords plugged into that electrical plug!! (did you glue the stuff to the top of your dresser?) Don't like the hidden space in the dresser, you have to take everything off dresser to open it. Would rather have 3" deeper drawers. Bathroom, I put a slide out selves in that dungeon. Added 2 more matching hooks above the toilet, that board should be raised up higher, but can't because of the corner molding. Put two towel bars on the side wall an two towel rings next to the sink, one above the other. Added a pop up shelve at the end of the vanity. (Folding Wall Bracket Xintan Tiger Collapsible Brackets 90°) Put a 1/2 shelve under the sink, up against the P-trap. Put in a better shower head. Why did GD move the light switch so far away from the door?? Mine is next the door!! Outside storage, get a slide thru tray for the big storage compartment, (MORryde International, Inc). Lights should come on when you open any storage door, an go off when it's shut!! Under step an front show off lights should be on a switch in the control panel. or just inside the door!! (who wants to go out later to turn them off??) Also did the remote lock for the main door. Why can't GD design a good retractable base for the electric cord? Had to have my stair case rebuilt (warranty) Made them make each step the same distance, they did not like it, but I insisted!! Had to replace two roll up shades.(warranty) Noticed you did not have a shut off valve on the end of your sewer line!! might want to think about that!! Two more complaints for GD. NO backup Lights!! They put them on the toy hauler!! Why not on all trailers?? Backup camera light is on 24/7/365, why not hook it into clearance light wire?? Sorry this is so long, but maybe GD will read this and make a few changes?? Enjoy your video's!! Had a rack (spare room) built for the back slide in hitch, 6' long, 26" deep, 26" wide, store foot pads, tri pod stabilizer, fire pit, fire wood, emergency road kit, tri-angles, etc. added 4 way light bar an reflector tape to the rack for safety. Bought two better fans.(Maxxair 0007000K MaxxFan Deluxe Fan with Remote) A better toilet seat (Wycliffe Round Front Slow-Close Toilet Seat with Non-slip Seat Bumpers) Added 2, (Eaz-Lift Pack of 2, 24" RV Stabilizing Scissor Jacks) to the very back bumper, All the 12 volt lights, inside an out are NOT LED... Changed them all... A must is a (Outdoor/Indoor Smart Security Camera) above the main door. Put a rubber glove box holder inside both big compartment doors. Put this (Clear Plastic Dining Table Protector Cover Waterproof Rectangular PVC Vinyl 24 x 48 Inches) over the TV drop down area to protect the wood, gives you more counter space. If you have not installed a TPMS?? You should asap!! Switched out both TV to smart TV's, One in bedroom several inch's bigger. Hope this is of some help!!

      @LizAmazing  Před 3 lety

      Wow, such a great comment full of such fabulous tips!! Thanks so much for taking the time to write this. We will be taking notes and making some of these upgrades for sure!
      And so sorry to hear about you being affected by the Paradise fire. What a tragedy that was. I (liz) actually visited the town as I'd met so many people on the road displaced by the fire. I did a video about it one year after the fire, but you probably don't need to see that as you've lived it. Here's the link for anyone interested: czcams.com/video/4kzyUI3Wruc/video.html
      Sounds like you have made the 310GK a nice home with all your conversions. And you got a great deal!
      We do love our full body paint. We didn't get the dishwasher, washer dryer or solar. We are now talking about getting solar as it would be handy to have. We do have a generator, but it lives in the truck.
      Paul removed the dividers as we are not using the pet drawer as intended. We both felt we would easily trip over it when opened. If we shut it, we could forget to open it back up.
      That's a great idea about the wasted space under the trash cans. We have been storing our Costco sized box of trash bags behind the recliner but that is a much better place for them so we will move them there.
      Our pantry door doesn't have a strap, has a regular handle. The metal trim on the glass melted upwards (don't know how!) and now the grid to the left is a ski slope. Not sure how to fix that!
      Agree 100% about the wasted space on each side of the couch. GD should know better than to have ANY dead space in an RV. Paul could probably do the conversion to make that space usable.
      We did our king to queen conversion in the first week. In fact, we took our upgraded queen from our 260RD and left the new king in the dealership. We don't like the little shelf nightstands and wish there were something a little better there. Don't know how the people with kings make their bed. And also how they avoid rolling over into those overhangs!
      The stuff on top of the dresser is held in place by museum putty. We don't use that space under there either. I, too, wish that bureau were bigger. We've seen mods that add on corner shelves on the ends. Since this video we've discovered the large space under the couch. We call that our dead body storage and find it holds plenty!
      Yep, the bathroom light switch is not in a good spot!
      We loved how the Reflection 260RD 150 series (two tiers down from the Solitude) had motion activated lights on all three outside storage bays, the inside entrance hall and the bedroom closet. The 310GK has only one motion light and it is inside the door by the inside steps. It's odd that they stopped doing those motion lights. The 260RD was also a 2020.
      EXACTLY!! About the retractable power cable. That reel is such a waste as you can only use it if you remove the entire cord each time. Come on Grand Design, get it together so that the power cable plugs in next to the power reel. Duh!
      Good for you on getting the stairs rebuilt. Paul still trips on them occasionally!
      We are pretty sure our interior lights are LED. Maybe they changed that for 2020?
      We bought some of that protector stuff and fit it to the dining table. We try not to use the TV top as a counter, but do sometimes put dishes there. Were you able to find a piece big enough?
      Yes! We did get TPMS and believe everyone towing a trailer should have one whether they are camping fulltime or just on weekends. Anyone scrolling by, here is our TPMS video plus 15% off promo: czcams.com/video/odVXXL7X_Bw/video.html
      What kind of TV did you get for the living room? Can you watch CZcams on it without hooking up an HDMI?
      Thanks again for your awesome tips!!!!
      Hope to meet you on the road someday!

      Hi again, Wayne! I think a toyhauler is a good choice. Paul misses his garage and tinkering with things there. A toyhauler would have been a good compromise. • @technojerry
    @technojerry Před 4 lety +1

    BTW you can use a small Ryobi 18V to 110V inverter to power the recliners while off grid or something like the Inergy Solar Generator (inverter with a lithium battery) as another option for the TV and recliners, just turn off the Converter so you don't waster Solar Generator power. There is a circuit breaker dedicated to the Converter.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 4 lety

      That is SUCH a good idea. We actually miss our manual-pull recliners from the old rig. It is starting to feel like a long wait for them to power retract if we suddenly want to pop up and get something. And great tip about the converter!

    I really like your new RV. It is very spacious and attractive. It is frustrating, that they eliminated some of the great features your previous rig had. They probably did cost cutting; as you know, everything is based on the bottom line. Once we get over this major and scary event with the Coronavirus; I wish you many wonderful and adventuresome travels in your new rig.

    Looks like you bought your rig from the same dealer we bought our grand design transcend (I noticed the building in the background) but yes there customer service was horrid. Had an appointment to pick our trailer up at 3 PM and they didn’t start till 5 PM. Plus, the spare had a screw in it, was flat and the wrong lug pattern. Took 6 months after a lot of back and forth. Finally I bought it myself and asked them to pay for it. Anyways, love ur vids.

    We have a 2020 310Gk also (without the full paint option which I love). Talk with your dealer - we have USB outlets right above the regular outlets on both sides of the bed.
    Also, if you get the solar option which includes an inverter, almost all circuits can run off the batteries including the chairs - no running a generator. I’m sure this is a relatively easy change (not counting all the solar options).
    Agree with you on the lights - geez what were they thinking. I like the bathroom cabinet but then again I’m 6’3” with monkey long arms. 😉

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 4 lety

      Hi Paul! So nice to meet someone else with a 310! You must have a newer 2020. For ours, the outlets are not within reach when lying in bed. One is left of the closet and one on the other side is on the wall above the heat vent. Nothing in the slide. And for sure no USBs. So we can use a USB plug-in and a long cord.
      How much solar power do you have? How many batteries and what kind? What size inverter? Thanks!
      Paul & I would love to meet you on the road someday. Enjoy your 310!

    • @paul99036
      @paul99036 Před 4 lety

      Liz Amazing sounds like our outlets are in the same place, we just have 2 usb outlets above each electrical outlet. Certainly will need a longer cord for our usb devices. I will plug my iPad in to the electrical outlet since it’s a power hog. 5’ cord should be more than enough.
      Our rig was built 12/6/19 and then driven 1,900 miles out here to Spokane. If yours was built anywhere close to that date I’d argue it should have it (I hoped to find it listed as a feature on the web site but no luck). If Paul is handy (this Paul is NOT!) he could probably put one in very easy (and use the more powerful plug).
      We got the new solar option from Grand Design - 1 300W solar panel, 2000W inverter, plus all the wiring. Pros and cons but it will be fun to test. Our splurge was for 2 Battle Borne 100amp lithium batteries. Got them on a Black Friday sale saving around 15%. Everything can be expanded and upgraded if we want.

    Oh I LOVE IT!!! you have the same taste as me! big windows; kitchen island; big fridge; good sized tv; tv chairs are nice but i wd likely get some sort of fold up dining rm chrs n table and make or get a couch instead with an ottoman. does it have a closet or space for a stacking washer/dryer? maybe i missed that. or u could get one of those best choice or danby washers; has a washer n spinner in it; then hang up stuff to dry on a vertical rack. with that super deep cabinet shelf in your bathroom paul could install a shelf in the middle that goes right to the back of it; then put a rectangular long basket in each of them and just pull the basket forward when u want anything; that way you have access to all your stored stuff in there easily. with your belly cargo bays you can also install sliding floor racks; same idea; put the heaviest stuff at the back and the lightest stuff in the front; then pull rack forward to gain access to stuff in back of sliding floor rack. I really like it!

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 4 lety

      Thanks. This Rv is a dream! You know what? I looked at this floorplan a year and a half ago when I really was just dreaming! It turns out Paul had his eye on the 310GK before we got together. That's a good idea replacing the table-- the floorplan is really versatile. I have taken over the table as my work area. The washer dryer space is big enough for a stacking washer-dryer-- yay! We show it in the video after the closet when I open the door at 6:36.
      Thanks for the good tips-- yes I will keep Paul busy making some modifications. He's going to work on the bed platform next! Thanks for watching-- glad you like our new rig. Hope to meet you on the road someday, Lauren!

    Hey Liz and Paul. im up at my usual odd hours of the day because of my health issues. I am trying to catch up on your previous videos and learn more about my new friends. It is clear how practical and reasonable both of you are. I can relate to so many issue that you discussed with buying your new "RV". Do you prefer calling it your home? we have never lived in a n RV but i have tried for years to consider alternative lifestyles. Unfortunately i would have trouble getting my wheelchair around and other medical treatment considerations would come into play. However i love your choices and the entire space seems well designed except the light switch issues . Im trying to share and give my point of view to you from a "non familiar" angle. Just for reference, you make me -us feel like with thoughtful buying you can order most any feature that you like to accommodate your taste? You have a beautiful home that looks similar to "Bricks and stick" type homes of today? I really enjoy meeting people unfortunately before the Covid19 stuff; most new friends were health care doctors and staff. Its great to find interest online and speak with people from all walks of life. Paul seems so experienced and logical. I have to have many provide service for me and set in my ways about my expectations. I sincerely appreciate getting what i am paying for but more so enjoy telling people when they get it right from the customer point of view? i like Good service. My wife is the soft spoken type but im more direct though i try to be considerate . i wasnt sure out of High school what i wanted to and was a police officer for 3 years before entering into manufacturing. Then i became a contractor with 10 full time employees. When you are in the customer service business its easier to understand both sides of any issue. I was taught by my father that the "customer is always right" concept and i adhere today on either side of an issue? Well you got better things to do besides read so i will end but great video! you make me want to go out and look for an RV.
    I sincerely appreciate your kind words and your candor about matters. You channel is great for learning and i love to learn. thanks again for the tour of your new home. im gonna try watching more of your prior videos and try to learn from you both. Sincerely Art in W. Tennessee. God Bless you both.

      Hello Art!
      So nice to hear from you. Paul and I are getting a slow start to the day out here in California where it is nearly 1pm. We jog most mornings before breakfast, then walk Mango, then I sit down and answer the comments that came in the night before.
      Today I have been busy on the phone coordinating matters with my apartment that I rent in Lexington. For the last five years I have been an AirBNB Superhost and have sub-rented it out to guests (with my landlord's approval). It's been a great business that has effectively given me a free apartment and some pocket money. I use the apartment to store things including a couple pieces of furniture.
      Well, as you can imagine the guest business completely dried up. My apartment is located in downtown Lexington just 1000 feet from the University of Kentucky campus and a ten minute walk to Rupp arena which holds concerts and sports events. My task today is to start lining things up to have someone pack up my stuff as I won't be renewing the lease. I do think it will be a good long while before universities resume in-person classes, and before we once again have concerts, conferences and sports games. I hope this is not the case but everything I am reading points to that conclusion.
      Thanks for touring our new home. We do call the rig "home" and that's what it feels like. Honestly, it feels like a luxury condo and we feel so fortunate to have moved in right before the lockdown came. I keep pinching myself because the 310GK was my dream floorplan back in 2018-- and it turns out this was the very floorplan that Paul had been eyeing all along.
      We are big fans of Grand Design for their customer service. We've done a couple tours of the Newmar brand and we feel we would be glad to buy one of their Class A's someday. They bend over backwards for their customers and will allow you to build your own rig using say a counter from one model and flooring from another. Did you know Newmar makes wheelchair friendly rigs?
      I had no idea! Look at the Canyon Star model. Fun to look at even if you are not planning to buy. Here's a link:

    Hi Liz & Paul! We also have/had a GD 260rd and after one year we are trading it for a GD 2930rl. We were going back and forth over the 310gk or 2930rl - and the bath/bed floorplan of the 2930 fit us better.
    Anyhow - What are your thoughts/experiences with towing the taller and longer RV? That is the only worry I have about upgrading to the Solitude line...leaving the interstates and worrying about low clearances (yes, we use RV GPS apps and are warned, but you never know if the height has shifted), as well as campgrounds with low tree limbs and the longer RV to maneuver. Maybe you could do a video on the change in height/length?
    Hope to see you on the road, but we are mostly on the East coast.
    Cindy

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 4 lety

      Congrats on moving up! We loved the 260RD but needed more storage. We are not familiar with the 2930. Length of the 310GK is not a problem (other than possibly not fitting into campgrounds). The height has taken some getting used to. We are SO much taller and have been to 5 campgrounds and 1200 miles. We ripped off our cellular booster and broke it a few campgrounds back. We had lowered it below the A:C but evidently a branch whipped into it. Even so, we LOVE the Solitude over the Reflection: real wood cabinets, better counters, better quality all around. Enjoy yours!

      @@LizAmazing This is what I installed, originally so I could cycle power to the overhead fan circuit which is the one the rear camera is powered 24/7 off of. I needed to able to cycle power from the truck cab to get the rear Furrion camera to resync while on the road without pulling over and turning the cutoff switch in the basement. The side benefit second switch was when I installed it also on the primary light circuit of not leaving open the door cabinet in out 2930RL hallway with my wife not seeing it open. This brand I have them cutoff on occasion so you might want to look for other similar switches, but on of the two has been reliable. www.amazon.com/Controller-Wireless-Control-electric-curtains/dp/B081GTHN97/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=wireless+12v+switch&qid=1584744042&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzRUFCOUcyUzdYSUkyJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwOTY0NTUzM0dSWFVPUlc0TEIwTCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzI1NTE3M1I3TFYxRjZJUDdQRyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

    Beautiful Rig. A couple questions. Have you weighed the rig after adding all the full time stuff? The GVWR is 15,000 pounds which doesn't leave as much payload as we thought we might need. (the Montana has 16,500 and over 4k payload) Also have you found the payload capacity of the bed of the truck to be adequate? This trailer is on our short list and those were a couple concerns we had.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 4 lety

      So that gives us about 3,000 pounds for cargo, including tanks. Our 3/4 ton is rated at 15,800 and so we are open to buying a one ton. We've only driven it about ten miles but it has towed like a dream. We are going to wait and see before deciding if we need to upsize our truck. One thing Paul did before purchasing was to install a Timbrin suspension enhancement system. Cheaper than airbags and every bit as good: amzn.to/398DKvs

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 4 lety

      Hi! I bought the 260RD as a solo fulltime Rver. Can’t say enough good things about it or Grand Design. After I bought it, I stayed in town for three weeks and got minor work done. Wherever you buy, do plan to stay in place for a few weeks. The dealer you buy from will put you ahead of the line before any other dealer.
      Once on the road, any issues I had were handled by mobile techs. I never had to go to a dealer. GD sent me a new counter extension and stovetop- things typically have to be done through the dealer.
      Prices will vary the further the dealer is from Indiana. I do recommend Northside Rv in Lexington Ky. Ask for Matt.
      Excited for you on getting a 260RD. Get the new colors which came out in mid-2020 model year. Improvements over the classic colors (mine) include auto-levels and Norcold fridge. The newest floorplans now have kitchen cabinets up to ceiling.

      RV design is following the housing trends where carper is not desirable. People like the look and less maintenance of vinyl flooring. Also, carpet wears faster. We had carpet in our slide of our last rig, the 260RD. It showed wear fast. Replacing carpet in a slide may be more complicated. Ours was under the fridge.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 4 lety

      We expected to buy a one ton but not needed as we are under our tow capacity, GCWR, etc. We pull with a Chevy Silverado 2500 and it pulls just fine. In our case, the difference between the 2500 and 3500 is slightly heavier springs in the back and that's it. Same engine, same trans, same everything else. What dealership did you go through for your purchase.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 4 lety

      TrailerHitchRV. Sales process (and great price!) was fine. As with most RV dealers, the service and follow-up was subpar.

    • @LizAmazing

      Great question! We are open to getting a one-ton. When we drove it from the dealership (just ten miles) the truck did really well. We will wait and see how it goes. Thanks!

      I was concerned about the extra weight so I added a set of Timbren SES springs and it felt very stable.

    You both have 💙 beautiful home. I'm with Paul in that customer service is very important to me especially on such a large purchase as your new home was. Maybe they can some motion sensor lights since the old rig had it. You 2 are amazing and you both are still gleaming with love for each other. Congrats

      We don't know for sure. Have only driven it for ten miles and have been on lockdown ever since. Paul added Timbren rubber springs to the Chevy suspension-- made a big difference and it drove like a dream. We'll know more once we start traveling again.

    What did you do with the F250?

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 4 lety

      Gone! Paul says just a fond memory. We chose to keep the Chevy for it's higher tow rating and shorter wheelbase. Thanks for asking. Paul has since switched out the stereo and beefed up the suspension (amzn.to/32vCe6Q) so he is making his.
