    Other RV CZcamsrs is Eric from Nomadic Fanatic, and Robin from Creativity RV have used a service for years that forwards mail to you on the road called Escapees. Hope that helps.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 3 lety +1

      We like Escapees but the problem with their mail forwarding service is that it's only for Texas and Florida, two very expensive states for insurance. Texas requires you to get your vehicles inspected every year so you have to plan a return visit each year around their inspection schedule. As you'll see from our video, South Dakota is the cheapest state in which to domicile- by far!! And while it appears at first glance that Escapees does have a South Dakota address option, they really don't. When you watch the video, you'll see all the reasons why we like Americas Mailbox, there really is no comparison!

      @@LizAmazing Yes, you have to be very strategic! Things change so much. We opted to have homesteads of recreational land that we purchased as back-up for boondocking in N. NV and FL. @@LizAmazing Yes, the great thing is that undeveloped land often has low property tax. Two other sources are www.thefarmfinders.com/property/ and
      bearlandproperty.com
      that friends have used. We always checked out the properties with the town's accessors office's map and data and acrevalue.com to view property boundaries. We like low maintenance natural land that we would just fence in to avoid intruders. Also we confirmed no more than half an hour to medical and pharmacies, and checked crime rates. We picked NV as our primary residence since their is no income tax there and low insurance too. It is snowing there now, so we have the FL homestead for winter. Hope that helps. Best,

    Quite honestly, these services are available from many vendors. Back in the 2000's our service, St. Brendan's Isle, offered these services. E.g. we viewed on-line, asked for a scan and received an IRS letter while our boat was moored in Malta, in the Med. We arranged a USPS delivery of boat parts and mail while anchored in Pago Pago, American Samoa. One suggestion you didn't mention: Along with pricing services you want across multiple vendors, consider picking one that is geographically near where you will likely return on occasion. There are a variety of reasons why occasional face-to-face access to the vendor is helpful. This is why Florida, a popular winter destination, has multiple vendors.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 3 lety

      There are a lot of mail forwarders. Americas Mailbox does that and so much more. We love that they'll take care of vehicle registration, for example. It's true that you may need to visit your domicile in person every now and then so that's a good point. Neither one of us had any relation to South Dakota but the insurance savings are HUGE! Besides saving on our vehicles, I saved 40% off my monthly health insurance. Florida has residency requirements, which we see as a big drawback, as well as high insurance rates.

    Hi Liz, we are in the process of getting on the road full time. After watching your video and hearing Bob say that South Dakota had lower insurance than a lot of other states we decided to register our new truck in South Dakota with America's Mailboxes help. I should gotten the insurance quote prior to the truck purchase because the quote for our truck and RV were DOUBLE in SD than what I pay with my Virginia policy. Now we are in limbo trying to get the title back from South Dakota to register in VA. *** I advise anyone considering registering their vehicles and RV in South Dakota just to save money to get a quote BEFORE the purchase or starting the switch. Bob didn't specifically saying VA was lower but I just assumed by his presentation it had to be lower than the busy Commons of Virginia.

    Gold membership worth it just to be notified of federal, state, local tax/DMV/ticket/legal concerns. the "money grabbers" mail the letters and don't care if you check the mail or not. No phone calls. No emails. Those agencies make more money if you are late in responding as your troubles multiply. Yes, speaking from experience, eek.

      Yep. We looked at all the states and just kept coming back to South Dakota. When I moved my health insurance from Kentucky it went down almost by half to South Dakota- and Kentucky is a cheap state. Paul saved BIG bucks moving from California. Another factor was registration and not needing to come back every year to get vehicles inspected. AND super easy to become a South Dakota resident. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for the helpful information! I plan to domicile in South Dakota next year. I currently live in Oklahoma and will need to sell my house. My only concern is the order in which I do things. I had heard that if you set up domicile and then sell your home you may have an issue with having to pay taxes in both states. I don’t know if that’s true but just in case, I would rather sell my house first and then establish residency in South Dakota. If you know any other information about this please share. I assume it varies from state to state. Have a great day!

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  Před 3 lety

      Not true. You can go to a doctor anywhere. And you can teledoc. For prescriptions, renew them before leaving your hometown and then get them monthly at national chains like CVS or Costco. One option would be to come back to your hometown once a year for a check up and Rx renewal.
      I did teledoc to renew some of my prescriptions. AND got some super cheap meds from Mexico. Here's our video about that. czcams.com/video/m_DgJ2OVbe4/video.html
      The only drawback we have seen about being on the road and not being a resident of a particular state we happen to be in, is that we cannot get a Covid test. All places we have been to say you must be a resident. But that would happen no matter where your domicile is- unless you happen to be in your domicile state.
      You will certainly save a ton of money making South Dakota your residency versus Florida!

He told me that a lot of people that he knows have gone full time RVing. He asked me a question that I thought I might ask you two. What happens when you are not able to drive a big rig or pull a fifth wheel trailer any more? Do you have a plan? Or do you just cross that bridge when you get there?

If we could still live in our RV, we would just buy land and park it. If that was out of the question, we would buy a house and stay put.

      @LizAmazing  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jah!
      If you travel, then we believe using Americas Mailbox with a South Dakota address to be the best option.
      USAA is the best insurance we have found for veterans (whether you travel or not). Paul (a veteran) has been with them a year and a half. They are especially for veterans. Of course, it's always good to shop around so do check rates including with Americas Mailbox in-house insurance. We think South Dakota will be a good residency for you, based on all the reasons we discussed in this video. They will take care of everything remotely including setting up your mail forwarding. You will, of course, need to visit South Dakota at some point to get your drivers license.
      I changed my address to Americas Mailbox in South Dakota, then moved my health insurance, vehicle insurance, banking address, and changed vehicle registration. I think was six months before I went there to actually get my drivers license. You only need to spend one night in South Dakota every five years.
      Remember to mention our name when you sign up to get your free $10 in your postage account.
      Let us know if you have any more questions.

      @@CynthiaBertleson Yes, I think you are on the right track with Americas Mailbox. Do compare with your current state. For us, coming from Kentucky and California, it was a no-brainer. HUGE savings!! Our camper insurance went way down as well as the health insurance. Look into Progressive insurance and tell them you are fulltimers. They are very reasonable. That is who is covering our camper. And it went down quite a bit moving that policy to South Dakota.
      You can start all of this remotely. You don't have to go to South Dakota to start your health or vehicle insurance. Or to change your address. I did vehicle registration, address change (changing banking and insurance) months before visiting SD to get my drivers license. You just need your South Dakota drivers license to vote and show proof of residency.
