Long time ago i think I watched one or two episodes of this anime as a kid. It seems so familiar
This one is a remake (2017), the original one aired in 2003 so it's possible
Ahhh so that's why it's so familiar... I mean the talking bike is still memorable lol
Both are worth watching, she doesnt visit exactly the same places and the retold ones are slightly different.
i thought this anime would be like a fun bike road trip but every clip i see seems to have really dark undertones....
The original had suicides (not attempted), cannibalism, race wars, natives massacre and more death in general, this remake is toned down.
@@att7364 It's not toned down lol, the adapted chapters are just slightly different. Also, this particular video you're watching is from the episode where the MC ordered an entire country to wipe themselves out. She killed hundreds of thousands of people out of spite. It's dark.

This seems to be like girls last tour but with a boy and different twists.
Animes like these always threw me off because initially thought this was a chill anime of an MC riding a motorcycle. Then I actually got into it and it was different than I expected. I watched the original first then this one after, but by the saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" really fits this if you never bother to look deeper

its funny in movies and anime people seems to treat with little respect young people travelling alone, when i think about that it fells wrong, if i was a guard of one of these country, i would immediatly know a person like Kino would be able to fully handle himself despite appearance, no one travel alone like that without extense survival and hunting skills, as well as the capacity to deal with armed bandits.
Funny thing is that this show actually has alot of characters who think the same way you do. Remember the bandits? They were downright scared of Kino just by looking at her from afar.

I first saw the trailer of this anime long ago, though I never bothered to watch it, since I thought it was some sort of happy go lucky anime.......now I am interested

So Kino participated because she wanted to avenge the couple who was forced to participate and resulted in the man of the couple dying and take down the country for their sadistic rules. Am I correct?
Remember the lady in the carriage that told Kino about a country in this ep, was she talking about this country and is she the same woman of the couple that was spared while her boyfriend died?

Surprisingly this isnt as confusing to watch as the original anime. But i loved the confusion, still a good remake though ^^
the animation of this was good but i liked the old version of this arc better, the other contestants had more screentime.
If you plan on watching this, I recommend watching both the 2003 version and the 2017 one so you'd experience the best of both worlds. Best anime I've seen in a while âș

These types of tules and regulations, especially on the fight seems a bit... problematic. Considering is kind of can be used something nefarious.

It's weird seeing anime refer to cities as countries. I suppose it makes sense for places like the middle East or Africa, which have lots of small countries, but growing up in North America, you're used to "country" referring to a bigger scale

lol, the NA countries didn't even exist 4 centuries ago. This novel depicts a lot of different types of civilisations, so it makes sense for there to be smaller scaled countries.

I think the fights are for anyone who wants citizenship that doesnât have it already. Only the last man standing gets citizenship they said, so itâs all for new people. Thatâs why the couple was forced to fight. They wanted to settle down, but got stuck in a horrible situation of the countryâs design.

Edit: So the first Kino was the man (who made Hermes) in episode 11 who stay at the inn but got stab by the owner or father of the girl (2nd Kino) also got away from that city, now at episode 12 it's another kino (3rd kino). Am I right?

Lol, Anime speaks the truth while other mens are living in the paradise thinking life was good.
So this country loses half their population every three months?
The fights are for people to become citizens not for those that already live there.
The border guard even says so in the video that whoever is the last standing in the fight gets to become a citizen & live there.

Pretty sure any child that was born in the country legally by a citizen of the country are automatically are granted citizenship.
Of course this is just speculation on my part since the episode never touches on that but, I think it would make sense that it would operate in that fashion.
As for not having enough combatants?
I don't think they specifically have a plan for that just yet however, I wouldn't put it past the current king to enact a new law to force the adolescent's to participate in the arena should there not be enough combatants to satisfy him.
Then again the king might not do such a thing & instead post-pone the coliseum fight till they get enough people.
