These shows were well written even back when we were kids we knew we were watching something magical
They dont make adventure fantasy with a little brutality cartoons like this so raw with character... sad cartoon young teenagers trying to survive and get home... this is one of the best cartoon ever!!
"Happy birthday Bobby. Here's a box full of sentient creatures I found." -Eric
Wait, your not supposed to give those as a gift in D&D!
Venger flips ANOTHER castle...his home owners insurance must be astronomical.
He had some amount of lairs.
Jason CALDWELL the more I hear the comments the more I want more and more
😄👍
He can afford it...he is the ruler of the D&D world.
Why do I have the feeling the HOA is run by a beholder?
If they EVER do a remake of this show I'll NEVER forgive them if they don't use the original music. The nostalgia alone will have me hooked.
I'll have to disagree. Most of the music played during the episodes are just nosy mood effects. I'd say just keep a remastered version of the ending theme
And characters also.
The saddest part is if they do a remake of this series it'll likely be a disappointment full of political messages.
@@skeath36 Yeah, because no movies or tv shows in the 80's were full of political messages or patriotic propaganda.
@@VintageYakyu not saying there weren't political messages in shows back then, but usually those shows even with political messages were still good and entertaining. A lot of the ones we get today aren't Entertaining anymore because they usually focused solely on political messages instead of actually telling a good story and making an entertaining show.
One of my favorite episodes in the series! Bobby really came of age and proved himself in this one. I always love the life lessons each episode offers on the virtues and key qualities of the human spirit.
Hum j hj kkkkk isso í jo oi no ll

Suntory 1855 barrel whiskey, some animator worked their favorite hooch into a kids show. Respect.
This is a great story,it gives Bobby a chance to shine.
Happy Birthday Bobby! Another favorite episode. Giving back to help others in difficult times is important.
That prison design was so Gygaxian in appearance. The only thing it was missing was the deadly monsters that would have torn the player characters to shreds the second they were tossed in there, or the maze of deadly traps designed to just up and murder the prisoners.
Can you imagine if the show was called "Gary Gygax's Dungeons & Dragons"? Would the kids even make it through the meat grinder? Haha! "Eric: I'm not going into ANY place that people call "The tomb of horrors!!" After every other place Dungeon Master sent us, I'm beginning to get the distinct feeling that he doesn't want to send us home at all and that he's actually trying to kill us instead!!!!" Hank: "Come on Eric! White Plume Mountain was just a fluke, and you need to stop blaming yourself for when Bobby got torn to sheds by that giant crab! And Who could have seen Sheila exploding happening??? This time is going to be different!!! I know it!!!" *Eric looks at his very dented magic shield*
And I'm pretty sure the creature that comes after them when they try to escape was meant to be a Tarrasque! Those terrified me in-game.
Venger giving the weapons to his Lizard goons, was one of his dumbest moves.
He usually uses them to amplify his own powers, holding them in hand.
His Lizard goons are loyal to Venger 100%,
He needs all 6 weapons to amplify his power. He was missing the club.
Ahhhhh memories ! ! I wish we could go back to those days ! ! ! !
I always felt Eric was the most realistic and straightforward character.
He's such a selfish, whiny douche. I could never see the rest of them being friends with him.
@@EndPoliticalCorruption Eric talks about being rich more than a few times in the series. Maybe they keep him around so they can afford stuff like going to a theme park.
@@lizardprotector I hope not. Wouldn't speak well for the rest of them, then.
This show had some darn good animation.
Anyone else hear the Star Trek door sound effect when Venger's throne spins around early on?
Yes! That was so weird, out of place.
17:53 "Come on Presto! Make with the magic! HURRY!!!"
lololol. Always makes me die laughing. Loved their chemistry together.
This is my favorite episode. The action in this scene is the best ever in all 3 seasons.
One of the best shows on TV in the 80s. It's a shame that childhood has altered so much for the worse.
Another excellent episode! I'm so glad this series is just as awesome as I remembered it.
Anyone notice Diana and Hank getting cozy w/ each other @ 08:29? I guess a few hours in the tank made them feel lonelier than normal?
Hank also engages in a bit of inappropriate touching around 9:10
Good catch, I never noticed that before! But it's only inappropriate if it's unwanted, lol.
I noticed that as well :)
LOL I just noticed it and came to say something...but you guys all BEATME hahahah
I saw it also! Was surprised as I had always thought that Hank and Sheila were a couple, or at least she had a crush on Hank.
I always likes how DM always shows up out of nowhere.
Always liked this episode. I always thought reluctant giant Karox had a Bernard Bresslaw mannerism about him, especially after seeing him in Krull as a youngster. The music is amazing. It feels like with the recent surge of merchandise for this series to coincide with the new unrelated D&D film....I have seen so many comments saying that this series should have the cinema treatment as a full length film. I've been wanting this wish since the 80s and it would be my dream to see this done right and with humour. It would be amazing to see the journey of the children at their School, going to the theme park and a journey in The Realm. Peter Cullen and Frank Welker are still with us...More nostalgia with their voices too. This is screaming potential!!! Such a brilliant show. My all time favourite of them all. 🌟
That dwarfs plea was so heart touching,He was so innocent, so good it made me cry.
19:48 This was also a nice closure from that scene. So much heart in a few frames. Brilliant storytelling. This series always makes me feel so happy. I think Frank Welker did the voice of the dwarf. ❤
Well, Venger sure went out with a bang.
Dungeons And Dragons is more than just a role playing game, it's an epic adventure!
The last scene is like them posing for the paparazzi
I hope all the poor creatures and people got out of there before the prison was consumed by the volcano.
Fat lady with 'fancy' eyewear, spider man comics, santory whisky, the wrong sound effect to the lizards eye flare... Thats gotta be the eastereggy episode xd..
Where's the fat lady?
Oh I see her at 6:27
Where is the lizard's eye flare? I remember it happening, but can't find it.
When Bobby came back and said "Where's my party?", who else immediately thought party of adventurers, rather than birthday party?
Same!
oh... and i wondered why he called them a party (of adventurers) when they never did before, but birthday party makes more sense in this context :D
Another A++++ episode.
True that! I don't think I saw many of these 'toons in their original run, but I do remember this episode. It's just as moving 30+ years later.
One of the three episodes from season one I would classify as essential. I converted this episode to a playable adventure for my D&D group
Bobby is a total badass and I love it when he saved Karox.
I never noticed but I wonder how Venger caught Strongheart in the first place? This smacks of Warduke since he has dealt with Venger before.
Dance on his head, Uni. Hahahaha
My neighbors cat does that to me
I AM from Brazil ,this cartoon is very good I liked much ,I like in original vertion bit mal inglsh need study more.....
But my inglish nerd more study
"Forget Dungeon Master; we should be praying for a SWAT team". Eric 😅😅😅
This is First Edition D&D at it's finest.
I'm going to be That Guy here but it's really 1st edition AD&D. 1st edition D&D was super barebones, it wasn't until Advanced Dungeons and Dragons that it really became the game we know and love. It's an incredibly small technicality but I feel it's worth mentioning, if only for more people to see how basic the game was in its actual first incarnation.
@@XSniper74184 I'm going to be That Other Guy by pointing out that the cartoon didn't depict the world(s) of O/B/AD&D much at all. It doesn't seem to be modelled on Blackmoor, Greyhawk, Mystara or anything else from that timeframe. I get the impression that Gygax didn't have very close oversight over it during the development phase, otherwise he would surely have cried foul. As a half-hour advert for TSR's products, it fails on many counts.
Anyone else catch Sheila's hair turn from red to black @ 6:15?
I noticed it as well. A lot of Easter eggs in this one.
Swat team
Swat team
Swat team
That's an Animation error.
Wonder why Strongheart was only in one episode? He is a hero of the realms.
I wonder why the kids didn't just trade their weapons with venger to go home! In many episodes they see the gateway home and they can't take their weapons with them, and the only thing that stands in their way is venger. So just tell him;
"Look buddy, we just wanna go home, we leave you with the weapons then we'll just go through that portal, cool?"
@@Tee-Dot-Tv Because they are the heroes and they have to save the Realms.
@@PozerAdultRacingTeam yeah I know this, it would make the shortest series ever! But in reality, you know this is the best course of action.
@@Tee-Dot-Tv Still a little miffed that we didn't get figures based on the cartoon back in the day.
@@PozerAdultRacingTeam ikr! I guess they hadn't thought of that avenue yet. Back in the day, they were concerned with animation, nothing more.
Let me find out who the brain child was that thought of bringing animation and toys together.
Have you guys realized that presto only gets unusual things out of his hat with his hocus-pocus.? Things which are much more common to the earth instead of the fantasy world they are prisoned in
20:05 That's the best explosion ever
The opening fight becomes kinda funny after you realize that ad&d (most recent edition at the time) lizardmen are literally wet tissue paper
Good series, brings back memories
It's funny when Bobby puts on the necklace. Like, how does it get over his horned helmet exactly? 4:31
MAGIC!
Poor Karox, that was not just his homeland, it was where his friends and family live, he did not want to follow Venger but he did not want his friends and family to die and his homeland to be destroyed.
5:25 Yes, Venger's chair uses a Star Trek sound effect. Yes it was the 80's, when rip-offs like that could be heard on every TV show.
5:38 Venger slips into Optimus Prime's voice again. Occupational hazard.
9:27 - "The creature" looks like the giant's pet Willie.
Has anyone noticed that Eric has a Spider-Man comic?
*Googles, goes to Wikipedia* I noticed it, and remembered "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" was on Saturday mornings during the early 80s, same as "Dungeons & Dragons". Apparently Toei Studios did a lot of commissioned work for several American studios, including Marvel. Maybe some Japanese animator decided to have a little fun? Give a little shout-out to what he (or she) might have been working on as well? Or maybe there was a lapse in editorial control and continuity. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toei_Animation#Commission_work
Similarly, did anyone notice the "Santory 1855" written on that giant cask used to block the hole in the prison wall? It amused me enough that I Googled for when the Suntory company (makers of Japanese whisky) started. Suntory Holdings LTD. was established in 1899, but I swear "Santory 1855" is still a reference to same.
Yup
ThePizzadude93
Yes. I saw it too LOL
They could do that because the D & D cartoon series was co-produced by Marvel Productions.
Would be great if they had a crossover episode with the X-Men.
Wolverine vs Warduke
Bobby listened closely to Dungeon Master & his Birthday gift did help free them all!!!! Venger with his Energy Blasts always in time with the D & D battle music led by the horn section!!!
Wow was this a great cartoon! I barley remember it when I was young, so Im glad I found this!
I never saw the shows in color back in the day.
17:54 😂😂
Presto’s expression plus that sound of teeth grinding in comedic fashion.
To the Prison of Agony! Dilly Dilly!
One silly thing i never really thought about (until now)... Does Venger wears, like, those 'baggy Samurai pants', or he wears a skirt? Does being a villain gives him the ability to wear skirts while not tarnishing his manhood? Or he is such a bad ass that people did not even think about asking him if it is a skirt? Or is that like the DM sons uniform? What do you guys think? Kilt or not Cute?
I think it's possible Venger's wearing hakama ("baggy Samurai pants") or something very like them.
Screaming Fox good acknowledgment fox
Venger's so hardcore he can rock a skirt,if anyone makes fun of him he enslaves or kills them.
Spellcasters tend to prefer long robes to pants: Venger, Dungeon Master, Presto, Merlin, Kelec, Lukion...
KuudereChef AKA Scribblegs's old channel
He's DM's son, but he's far beyond male or female transitions. He's like a cross between quite a few different mythological beings.
9:10 Hank was feeling on Diana's Behind
Dungeons & Dragons - Episode 8 - Servant of Evil the guy who has the golden hammer remind me of Thor
+Alex Tyson his name is Strongheart, and he's a character from the D&D game
+manofsan I just saw him on CZcams has a the sword what happened to the golden Hammer
Strongheart the Paladin is my favorite character .I used to have the action figure
And he’s right, the figure had a sword instead of a hammer.
Gears 73
I had War Duke, and The Wizard who collected the Unicorn horns.
They didn't even make figures for the main characters in the show.
This is Bobby's "coming of age" moment where he also goes ham.
Well. Hats off to whoever it was who captured Thor!
Nice sharp picture.
A lot of the music reminds me of Gi Joe and Transformers
All these years, and all I hear are the original voice actors for the transformers
9:26 He's no creature... he's Willy! (The Giant didn't want him any more? Oh wait. He shrunk into nothing.
They freed Willy 11 years before... oh... different Willy.
The ending is 100%nostalgia a full of magic and memories music
Awesome
Anyone else notice that Sheila and Diana were the last two to make it in at 10:05 Hank , Presto Eric and Strongheart were the first! haha
How SEXIST!! 😀
Another good episode.
This is one of the best episode The Great Escape from Fortress prison
I love this show!
P.S. - Anyone else notice the guy's hammer looks like Thor's hammer? :3
#thorreference
Yeah & I noticed that Eric was holding a SPIDERMAN COMIC but that creature that try 2 eat him looks like one of the alien's from mib
My favorite episode
Poor Eric.. if we are to believe it was Bobby's birthday during the opening scenes, then at after midnight they made their escape, it would have been the day after Bobby's birthday.
Interesting. As a kid, I would watch this show in portuguese (my native language). Now, as a grown-up, I sometimes bump into some episodes and watch'em in English. Guess what: it really doesnt matter. Episodes are just awesome anyway.
11:05
I swear I heard Dungeon Master say “Under your nose, moron ass!” 😂😭
Bobby - Hufflepuff
Diana - Gryffindor
Eric - Slytherin
Hank - Gryffindor
Presto - Ravenclaw
Sheila - Hufflepuff
Christopher atkins should have played hank years ago in a live action if they'd made one!!
07:37 Diana looking good. Oh! and 08:30 Hank is the man.
This show always promised something big, but it never delivered.
This show was dark as fuck
The show seemed to get thematically and emotionally darker as it went along.
Eight episodes in, and I'm reminded that the kids very rarely ever hit anything other than solid objects or enormous creatures with their weapons. Bobby was an especially glaring example in this episode, in where he easily busted down a huge iron door but didn't bother to hit the giant that grabbed him earlier on.
Ah, kids shows. 🙄
Activist groups in the late 70s/early 80s were on the warpath against any children's programming which showed (or implied) violence in any form -- even classic Looney Toons shorts were heavily censored in the late 70s, from what I remember. Thus, the kids in this show weren't allowed to use weapons (if they had them at all). Diana's staff was more for flashy acrobatics; Sheila's cloak was apparel -- not a weapon at all; Eric had a shield (again not a weapon), and Hank's energy arrows were used in every single way except as offensive arms. Bobby had a magic club capable of doing great damage, but (as far as I recall) he didn't smite any monsters with it, oddly. The show's habitual aversion to violence further distances the programme from the wargaming-inspired RPG which it supposedly promoted.
How did they know it's his birthday? Did they have a calendar?
I loved uni my favourite she was so cute.
Best gifts aren't normally those which are material in nature
Another time, Venger!
I just want some of those jumpy green things…
so the knight they meet in prison was also given a magic weapon by the dm, what class did he get assigned I wonder? paladin? fighter?
Strongheart must have been the inspiration for how to break out of Shawshank Prison.
Count of Monte Cristo was written a century ago.
Seriously, the DM could have given them more weapons. The only ones with any sense of weaponry are Hank, Bobby, and Diana. Come across an enemy who can sense invisibility and Sheila's screwed.
2021???
I wonder if the golden hammer is one of the magic weapons like the kids carry, I think there are supposed to be like 20 of them or something.
Khi nu inti no lutuk khi ninawm
If you tube had the sense they'd buy full series of these shows and sell them to Nostalgia fans.
10:55 Jumpscare
Jumpscare?
You know it's not the 5th ed when ranger is the most usefull character xddd
Lol. The acrobat was so useless that the lizard people barely used her bo
Blizzard ripped off Blackrock Mountain from this episode.
1:42 is that guy supposed to be a hill giant?
Where the hell did they find wrapping paper for Bobby's birthday present?
Presto's hat?
Yep. noticed that... kinda annoyed me. Only Eric had an "authentic" plausible (made outta leaves and bark) wrapping.
Paper of wrapping +5

At 10:30, the eye made a noise from Mario...
14:41 - always love Hank's crotch shot here.😁😁😁
