Nailed it AGAIN Dr Sam - informative, concise, directive and engaging. Thank you for sharing these insightful actives. I am using several to good affect. Stay well and Happy Easter : )

All of them I started at once a week for 12 weeks. Always irritation with a pea size amount.
I believe you can get a lower dose than 0.025%. Might be worth a try (0.01%). Also, use the moisturiser both before and after application of Tretinoin.
Can we use all of those products (salycilic + azelaic acid + niacinamide) in the same regiment ? And retinoid at night or do we have to pick just one ?
Great video. It's always so educating seeing your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏼 Please do a video on how to cope with eczema and very dry skin.
Hi Dr. Sam. All the actives that you mentioned I have in my skincare routine and I've learned more about them because of you! 😊 the products that I use are: Paulas Choice BHA 2% Liq. Paulas Choice Azeleic Acid 10% Paulas Choice CLINICAL 20% Niacinamide Flawless Nightly Serum Versed Press Restart Retinol Serum 😍 I have oily acne prone and dehydrated skin.
Good evening doctor. How could I combine both 15% azelaic acid gel for my self diagnosed type 1/2 rosacea (for which it works great), and salicylic acid for my sebaceous filaments and clogged pores? I also have big pores over almost all my face, but when I tried TO niacinamide 10%, it burned so much and made my face red, but without any benefit. Thanks for your lovely educational videos.
I've been using a salicylic acid face wash and 15% azelaic acid gel in the mornings in conjunction with 0,025 tretinoin in the evenings and the results are beyond great! It was a long run, but I finally can tolerate them well
I’ve been on tretinoin .5% for a month now and tried to incorporate my paulas choice salicylic acid liquid 2 % back into my routine and my skin freaked out! Like a chemical burn. How many nights a week are you using the tretinoin? I will be sad if I’m not able to use the salicylic acid, it did so much for my pores! :(

Took a week to get my skin to calm down. Even washing my face with a gentle cleanser that whole week was painful. Maybe I just need to use the tretinoin by itself for awhile till i get used to it?
In one of Dr Bunting's acne videos, she suggests the retinoid at night (followed by moisturiser), and then the other active during the day (with moisturiser and sunscreen over the top). I've been doing that for the past couple of months and it has helped my skin enormously. Definitely check the series out because it is very comprehensive. Hope that helps xxx

I'm not Dr. Sam but the retin-a that my dermatologist gave me is a mix that has .05% tretinoin and also niacinamide + hyaluronic acid in it... so I'm thinking they can be combined in your routine. 😊
@Dr Sam Bunting Is it ok to use pure Glycerin (C³H⁸O³) on a skin that is prone to acnes? I also use Adapalen 0.1 at night and L-Ascorbic Acid in the morning, is it safe to combine it with Glycerin on the top of it?
Dear Dr Sam, thank you so much for your educational videos, I find them very useful. I love your flawless cream as well 👍🏻. I was on tretinoin and HQ regimen for my Melasma, great results. I want to continue using tretinoin all year around for anti-aging. Can I layer it with Medik8 White balance original serum pm ( Kojic acid +Arbutin) to maintain results? Or to use serum am only?
Hi, doctor Sam I want to thank you for this video... it is very informative! I wonder should I take a BHA when I already use tretinoin? Or is tretinoin itself already a powerful ingredient for treating clogged-big pores? 🤔
Tretinoin is already a very intense exfoliator and pairing it with additional chemical exfoliants will cause lots of added irritation. It should do the trick on its own anyway for your pores :) (information from Dr.Dray here on YT)
Really great and interesting information. It seems I am on the right lines with the Paulas choice BHA ... just use it on my nose where pores were too open... after a few months they are looking much better. Also use tret mixed with a cream twice a week and take it onto my nose. Rest of the time using your moisturiser and serum. So happy to see the improvement in my skin after just a few months :-)
Hey Dr Sam! Thanks so much for this info! Love learning about what will help my skin - especially with stubborn blackheads! Would you be able to comment on the Lumi Spa? They make claims of minimising pores and clearing blackheads - have seen some amazing reviews of people’s really bad acne clearing up as well as blackheads, and have heard another skin specialist talking about using an silicone product instead of the electric brushes that people use to clean their skin as silicone doesn’t harbour bacteria. The Lumi Spa have also won some awards recently for being the best skin cleaning device of the year, but still want your thoughts as I trust you! Lol. Thanks x

Hi Dr. Sam. In your morning routine video it looked as if you put your CE Ferulic on your eyelids. I’m gathering if I don’t have sensitivity I could do the same? What is OK to put on one’s eyelids?
Should I be using more than one of these at a time? I am currently using a retinoid at night. Would it be useful to layer or add one of the other ones in?
Is a leave on chemical exfoliant with BHA safe to use every day? I use Paula’s Choice, which claims to be safe daily and even up to twice daily (although that seems excessive), but I’ve been sticking with 2-3 times a week because daily seems like it could be a lot. I’m worried I’m not getting the most out of it though as it seems to be taking a very long time for any progress when I do break out. Would daily be safe and help prevent better?
Hello Dr Sam, I'm a newbie in skincare with acids and your videos have helped a lot. Though I'm getting my sensitive skin used to with only Hyaluronic Acid first but gradually I plan to bring Ascorbyl Glucoside and Lactic Acid in my regimen. Seems like Niacinamide will be great too. So my question is, how many actives are okay in one's skin care regimen? (alternatively used)
musharrat tamanna Hyaluronic Acid is a sugar that retains water molecules, its not an exfoliating acid. It hydrates the skin, it doesnt break down sebum so it cant irritate your skin
Hi Dr sam, I would love if you could do a video on vitamin C serums. I've managed to control my acne but now looking for something to help pigmentation that the spots have left and protect my skin, whilst not triggering a breakout. Also, I know this is one of the more pricy ingredients, is this something you think we should invest in? Thank you :-) X
Hi Ellie, I used to have bad hyperpigmentation from pimples that would last for months, almost a year, but since I started using The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% with Rosehip oil, its helped a lot with the pigmentation. Both also have other great benefits so feel free to check reviews on them:)
Vitamin C can irritate and break out the skin quite easily. It's also not the most effective ingredient to help with lightening pigmentation. AHAs or retinoids will be a much better option :)
Dr. Sam what tretinoin on prescription is available in UK as we cannot find anything with my GP... only Differin... rest looks like not available any more..
I’m new and really enjoy your videos. I would live an ingredient breakdown of all the other things in your serum. I’ll be able to do it easily once I get my laptop back and running. You are truly lovely ❤️
I find it very strange that you only focus on topical products and ingredients for every skin issue. And it is the same ingredient pretty much for every problem. How about lasers and other procedures? I had an issue with visible pores and three Clear and Brilliant treatments about 6 weeks apart make a huge difference in my skin that no product could even begin to touch!
Quite a few dermatologists like dr Sam avoid talking about genetics and aging. MANY Asian and also south Asian and black people don’t need 90 percent of the aging products she reccomends. For example I’m south Asian with no signs of aging at all atm and we don’t use retinoids ever. I think majority of the dermatologists such as Sam cater for Caucasian people as they age much faster starting 25 which is unfortunate. They just want you to buy a product when you ACTUALLY don’t need them. It’s a lie to say everyone needs a retinol in their life once they hit a certain age and want to target it. Just a selling point again.
