I'm glad I found your channel. Thanx for the content. I wish I had time to make videos like these. Although I'm an electrician (not an Auto Mechanic) I still very much Appreciate what you Justin Dow, The Bear, Clay Koon, Bruce Allen, Garnette Tools, Flat Rate Master and Client Graphics are doing.

I like the format of the video and the review of other professionals. I would just suggest getting a gimbal for shooting to help with the camera shake. Keep up the great content. Give HF and Icon two years and they will have a great line of tools for an honest price that will have people second guessing their $40k+ Snap-On sets.

Even without a price increase icon stuff is already overpriced. Icon isn't offering much that other Made in Taiwan brands aren't already offering.

Harbor freight now warranties Icon tools just their Pittsburg tools, straight replacement without a receipt. Wondered about this so I drove down and swapped out my 1/2 flex head ratchet. No issues being used professionally, just wanted to check the warranty process. They grabbed one right off the shelf and handed it to me. Just like that.

Redemption Garage I agree. I also know that Tariffs will definitely affect the prices but that increase is also going to hurt all other imported tools as well. I am going to let the dust settle before I purchase anything unless it’s an absolute necessity. I think they got the quality part and now I hope they get the affordable part.

@MRO Garage i get it and i am mad too but i am not trying to come to any conclusion until i know all of the details. I am not affiliated with hf or icon other than them sharing information with me and sending me a couple of tools. We will find out if they were full of it or not and i will let everyone know either way because i dont owe anyone anything except the people who trust my opinion and i would never steer them wrong for anything. I am not taking up for anyone except people who watch this channel... believe me

You sound like a salesman. Dont compare Icon to Snap On. Snap On hand tools we know is some of the best on the market, Icon yet to be proven. Dont compare a Toyota to a Porsche. It will be cheaper, and both are means of transport, but quality and performance wont be the same. Promote your Icon tools, but dont be a salesman and dont compare it to Snap On. Its not the same league of tools. It just isnt. My Snap On guy is great, not all of them are assholes, dont generalize. Dont try and put other tool companies in a bad light to hipe up these Icon tools.

Guess you missed the part that he said in my experience if you want to pay 3 to 4 times the price for tools that do the same thing the snap on tools do then thats on you. Tell someome who hasnt used tools for 25 years that they have to spend their kids college fund to buy tools that arent even as good as you guys hype them up to be. Its your money you spend it how you want and i will do the same but i wont tell someone to waste money on tools they dont have to. You know I'm right you know that you dont have to spend that much money in every case. Are there certain tools you should spend money on? Yes but to spend 120 on a ratchet that you can spend 40 on and it does the same thing is not the smartest thing to do. Oh the snap on is stronger or lasts longer? Thats what a warranty is for. Oh if it breaks when you need it? Like every mechanic known to man doesnt have a back up ratchet. Even guys who spend their whole paycheck on snap on tools have a back up ratchet. You know I'm right and its your prerogative if you want to waste your money but im going to save these kids and others money if they can listen to reason without being brainwashed or peer pressured into buying these tools like guys who think they are real mechanics because they spent 100,000 on tools. When i will take hyper tough and smoke most of them. Thanks for your input and watching but i am trying to save these guys from falling into the trap a lot of us fell into.

Dont agree with you saying "wasting money on Snap On tools", yet again, stop putting other tool companies in a bad light, its YOUR opinion. You calling it wasting money, I see it as me spending my money on quality tools I know will last me for years and that I really want. Dont be a salesman, give your opinion on those Icon tools, but dont try and put other tool companies in a bad light. People arent stupid, they saw right through it.

Do you consider Carlyle to be a "Top Shelf" brand like Mac Tools, Snap On, Matco and SK. Or do you consider them to be "2nd tier Shelf" like GearWrench, Capri Tool and Williams. . . . . I guess that would make Craftsman, Husky, Pittsburgh, Kobalt and Duralast the "3rd tier Shelf" and then Hyper Tough, Stanley, Craftsman-Evolve, Master Craft, and other generic brands as the "Bottom Shelf"

I really hope that harbor freight carriers singles for sockets and wrenches. Having to have it mailed would be a hassle at the end of the day even though you may have a back up. Me personally I have the snap on fdx ratcheting with a 15 degree offest love the wrenches but I still keep a back up, they are a cheaper brand. Same with my sockets I have back up sockets just in case older kid of wore out. That’s just me some people may not have that issue but I still feel like waiting for it to be mailed in would be just as big of a hassle as waiting for snap on to order a rebuild kit for a ratchet.

HF seems to be suffering from some sort of inferiority complex with the marketing bs and comparisons it makes. Gearwrench is a perfect example of how it pays to do so even if your tools are not the best.

They look good. I'll wait till I can get them in my hands to see if they feel good. We'll see what happens with pricing. I have no doubt there will be coupons for the ICON line. In my opinion, if they hold the prices down on them, they'll have success from the outset. If the prices creep up to established brands (Gearwrench, Tekton, etc) it might be a struggle, as HF has the reputation of "cheap tools", and attempting to rebrand at least part of your image to "professional tools" at much higher prices than people are used to seeing in the store, will be a steep uphill climb.
Here's another thing that's crossed my mind. If I end up buying some, I want them to succeed, because if this campaign fails, and the ICON line goes away, I'm stuck with tools that can't be replaced if I need to warranty one.

I wrote them again asking about that but just did so no word yet. I think we will get a better idea on pricing as we see any promos or coupons and get into these tools for a little while.

@@RedemptionGarage yea they initial proce points you had in your video were legit and I would 100% buy them but the price hike before they are even fully available gives me a little pause

Agreed. The way those Icon sockets look exactly like Snap On sockets was the deal breaker for me. No thanx.

The stand up style snap on stock rails are magnetic. lay down/ new style are non magnetic. I have 5 different 3/8 drive snap on sets they all came sizes 1/4 to 7/8 . Sorry your buddy had bad snap on dealers I personally couldn't ask for a dude that I deal with.

been following your youtube video's on the icon brand tools and all the bruhaha from those that are just rabid
when it comes to the other mainstream brands like snapon, mac, matco, cornwall etc. having been twisting wrenches
for 50 years now, i have used most everything... my take is this... the tool does not make the mechanic!
(actually good mechanics are known for making tools) In my experience yes snapon makes some good stuff
so does mac and the others. the very best by a large margin impact sockets were made by sk wayne ( the wayne years
from 62-68) and by a large margin, however no one talks about sk much even though the are good ole USA manufactured.
the worst ratchets ever made were snap on, however i am sure they have been forced to improve them over the years.
i see lots of talk about warranty on tools? what is all the fuss about warranty? i can honestly say every tool i ever broke was because i abused the darned thing, 4 foot cheater pipes will kill about any tool inserted into it, that is if you put enough oomph
    into it.
as far as harbor freight? yes i have used their stuff for years, and of course there has been good, there has been bad, and there
has been very good and very bad as well. there very good V notch wrenches will and have proven to exceed the ability of all the major tool brands, at what? 10-20% of the price?
i expect the icon stuff to be very good as well, and i also expect the major tool truck vendors will come to rue the day that they came to market.
just wait and see, i give harbor freight 5 years and they will have tool trucks out running around delivering tools to your shop!
    :)

Mac changed their open end wrench designe from hex like to the more conventional proto 500 because the jaws would spread out a little wider and the wrench would slip off easier than a snapon

Cant judge a tool by its cover. Looking at them and using them are two entirely different things. Leave the tools with him and let him compare...

I will be testing them myself and I'm sure going back to Joe as well and we can test them more. Theres a lot to be discovered. Thanks for the suggestion. Ken.
