It's so interesting that they included some mistakes in his version, you can see how memories change & perception is subjective. This of course also makes Ted a personal (unreliable?) narrator

NPH has a career in musical theatre (Broadway). Timing and rhythm are just as much a part of his soul as any classical musician. Al I see is a sheet music composition and a metronome.

The Slap Bet had to be dropped so he could point out that Ted is not a great closer. The Goat and Mosbious Designs had to be dropped so he could talk about the tramp stamp. And there was no time for a Legend- wait for it -dary to be done appropriately.

For all the comments joking about how Ted takes 9 seasons to tell the story, they did give an in-universe explanation for why he tells his kids the long story. His own parents (season 2) never told him anything about their relationship, and they divorced without him even knowing, so he promised that he would tell his kids everything about how he met their mother, as he didn't want to be like his own parents.
Ted is pretty lame though. Even though most people rooted for him he is a built frustrating character on purpose so the fans love him while hating him. I just didn’t find a reason to like him at all, like a lot of people here. But a controversial opinion I have is that I dislike robin. Even though she is rather innocent when it comes to this show she is the center of a lot of problems for the two main characters, Ted and Barney (as significant to the story Marshall and Lilly is, they are side characters). Robin also messed with Ted and Barney’s emotions a couple of times and tried to act tough when in fact she’s a little bitch. People wouldn’t feel this way because she has a backstory of having a bad father figure but as a person who didn’t have that great of a father either I have to say that Robin is in no way relatable or like-able for me.

I feel like Barney is the true "hero" of how I met your mother. When we first met him he was a womanizer with commitment issues but especially through Robin and him we saw him opening up to the idea of a relationship and we even saw him in several serious ones. I know Ted is supposed to be the protagonist but I don't think Barney and him are so different. Barney should've ended up with Robin imo or at least neither of Ted and Barney. I don't think it's what Robin would've wanted anyways (but Barney would've been the better match)
I always thought that Ted telling his kids that Marshal was his best friend was just him trying to say he was the nice guy and Barney was a dog, even though he loved all the things he did. If there was a true version to this I always thought it was Ted and his best friend Barney chasing girls together.

Remembering that amount of stuff is nothing compared to what you have to memorize for a theater play. I don't get why people are making such a big deal out of this. Yes, the way he says it so quickly is impressive but that shouldn't really be a big shocker either because it's not the first time NPH has spit words like a machine gun spits bullets.
If you start by learning the lines you can then speed it up. Same process as learning a song on an instrument. Once you know the lines enough that you don't need to actively think about them you can then dedicate time to speeding it up

I think it shows how Barney doesn’t care that much about foreign countries. Or he felt Robin abandoned him, because we know that he has serious abandonment issues as shown by the first episode where his father comes back, and just ignored the details while he was angry and getting over it. Or the writers were just lazy and forgot

this is proof that Barney probably would have been the better protagonist of this series. He did in less than a minute what took ted 10 years to do and still had time to crack jokes.

because the end of the series was planned from the beginning, that's why you don't see the children getting older because even before season 1 was over, all the scenes with the children, including the last thing they said in the series, had already been shot beforehand and then they kept writing a story around it I'm not a big fan but I know people who did triangle jumps, burned barns and threw things at the TV and a certain buddy of mine was the how i met your mother hardcore fan After the finale aired, he threw all his previous DVDs in the trash and told me I'll never ever mention the existence of this series again. and I am now leaning far out of the window and claiming that nobody would have reacted like this if the series only had three seasons

Robin moved to Brazil, came back with a Latin stud. Ted got jealous, got a tramp stamp, not really relevant to the story I just like mentioning it as much as possible. I hooked up with Robin, Ted and I stopped being friends, Ted got hit by a bus we made up *deep breath*

Iza Van Maastrigt he read off of a screen in the back(still hella impressive) And NPH is amazing and idk how he spoke so quickly he’s just amazing
Remembering that amount of stuff is nothing compared to what you have to memorize for a theater play. I don't get why people are making such a big deal out of this. Yes, the way he says it so quickly is impressive but that shouldn't really be a big shocker either because it's not the first time NPH has spit words like a machine gun spits bullets.
If you start by learning the lines you can then speed it up. Same process as learning a song on an instrument. Once you know the lines enough that you don't need to actively think about them you can then dedicate time to speeding it up
