When they do victory day parades, they go with Soviet iconography for a reason. Because victory day celebrates the end of WWII and honors those who died. Nostalgia is also often used to make people feel better during rough patches. It only makes sense they'd do that.

I don't know about that. It really made the Olympics awkward AF and we all sort of assumed Ukraine would be overtaken that night. Obviously that didn't happen but it was a very stressful time
