- This one was so cool to put together and I tried out some different effects and tried to use panning lol. But I really love how it turned out! I honestly, cried a little when I first heard the his mom 😭.

I love how you put Polites & Odysseus's mom in different colour than the rest of 557 men. It's also in gold which somehow emphasize that Polites & mom were two of the "lights" in Ody's life. They also in full body illustration which kinda show they didn't hold any grudges towards him, compared to the creepy looks of the 557 men ❤.
Yeah, their souls were so pure even the Underworld could not corrupt them!

I love your animatic because it shows what Jay said about the undead only relaying their last thoughts to Odysseus and his crew instead of directly interacting with them, with Polites and his mom just singing into space.
This was absolutely stunning. Your tormented spirits gave me a jump scare from how horrifying they were. Seeing Odysseus's mother was painful as hell and you did justice to the scene. I also adored the last shot of the prophet, and how mysterious and threatening he feels. Great job!

Odysseus is having a great time during his Underworld vacay 10/10 would recommend for anyone buckling under the weight of command

I know that this might not apply to prophet guy (I forget spelling) but most blind people have some small percent of vision left so they might not look it. If that helps ur brain idk 💚
Blind people can still use their eyes haha, he very well could still be blind

@@missdarling7806I know it just feels really weird that he has irises and pupils while everything from the animatics I’ve watched and what my brain came up with on its own going against that image
So good! I especially love the melting effect you do on his mom and Polites, it's so heartbreaking to watch them fade away like that.

Really made it feel as if Polites came in at the right moment to save him from overwhelming despair with how you have that introduction, lovely animatic!
That was the idea, I really wanted it to feel chaotic and the moments where it’s more peaceful be very slow and steady with Polities and Odysseus’s mom.❤
The color choices all felt so perfect and fit the atmosphere so well! Having his mom and Polites both be these beacons of light in the ominous gloom combined with their parts of the song legit almost made me cry. You can really see the emotion from both them and Odysseus as he sees them. Really all of his expressions felt perfect as he went through so many emotions, and my lord the addition of the prophet at the end, having him staring down as the ship approaches felt so perfectly ominous especially knowing the next song to come.
It makes it even more ominous when you remember that the prophet is is blind, yet he 'sees' the ship coming.

He knows when someone is coming even if he can't actually see them approaching

Have Polities and Anticlea shown in a warm golden glow while the soldiers had skeletal like appearance in an eerie green is a nice touch
I love that you included them finding Tiresias at the end instead of him just being there for the start of No Longer You, most versions I've seen don't address that.
I love how this emphasizes the regrets and oddyseyus gets when gets flashbacks to those who died before him
that mom part got me in tears man.... her voice is something else
the "mom" was actually the creator of Epic's mom (forgot his name oops)

Did anyone else begin to violently SOB the second Polites appeared? No, just me? 😭 I was obsessed with greek Myths and Epics so I knew how it all goes yet I've followed the musical since the beginning. I severly underestimated Jorge Rivera-Herrans ability to make masterpieces that crush your soul...and yet here I am looking up animatics to make it worse.
why did i think seeing an animatic would help with dealing with the part with odysseus' mother

I've heard this song so many times and still I tear up at the part between Odysseus and his mother.
Polities and Odysseus' mum being the only ones not blue or together, being up on the pieces of land instead and being lit yellow, is so good!! Just shows they weren't damned, just finding their friend/son for the underworld to share their last thoughts- Oh, it's so good!! Well done! I also love your style so much!
DUDE THIS IS AMAZING!!! You have such a dynamic art style, and it’s awesome! The lost souls- chills, with their skull faces and haunting features, omg that was so sick. And the big “ALL I HEAR ARE SCREAMS” at the end was amazing. And the glowing eye!!! Phenomenal job, this is absolutely awesome
This song hard and close to home. I was shown this by a friend shortly after finding my mother had stage 4(terminal) Cancer. She passed June 7th in my arms and since I've had nightmares of that moment. This is a beautiful peace with great visuals. Thank you for making this.

The song is emotional by itself, but this animatic made it even special, and and there's so many details many people already have said, but let me tell you mine. The moment Odysseus and his mom tried to hold hands meanwhile she's fading, that's amazing, so heartbreaking yet something we all would do. Thank you for sharing your talent ❤

This is pretty cool like how you did the lightning you have a lot of immersive scenes and transitions. Ohh i like the flickering of like the thunder pretty cool keep it up.
I just love the details, the men being strong for the captain who has suffered through so much for them to get home, the details on their faces. The care they show when trying to reassure Odyssus. I love it so much

My favorite part was undoubtedly with Odysseus and his mom. Where Polites was above on a cliff, Odysseus’ mom was on on equal footing as though she was looking straight at him. I like the touch of Odysseus crying before trying to call out to her as well. Got me crying like when I first heard the song! Good job!

I love this so fucking much. I love the melting into light, that killed me.
My feedback for this is that on a large screen (watching it on the living room tv), the quick sliding transitions get visually overwhelming, almost motion sickness (which can work for the ship feel) but it was a lot. Other than that, no notes. This is brilliant

This was so cool! Your artstyle's solid and it's clear that, even though it's just an animatic, you've put a lot of effort into the shading and coloring and environments.
If I might make one suggestion though - having fewer transitions/effects between every single shot would help a lot. Sometimes the movement between the different shots sorta overrides the movement we're "supposed" to feel with each character, if that makes sense.

im looking through the comments and apparently some people dont know that the 558th man that died was some drunk dude that fell off of Circes' balcony, the creator of Epic: the musical made a song about him but his name was too silly, and nobody took the song seriously
