    I was so frustrated with finding the right tutorial for this process. I would easily pay for a good step by step tutorial. Thanks to you i can do it. Thank you really much.
    I am a little intimated by the texturing too.
    I go to a private school but no one could help me with the hair really.

    Using Fibershop and Zbrush for positioning hair are a good worflow too.

      You're welcome. Ye, I mainly made it because there's so much complexity out there (mainly to sell courses 😂)
      Keep it simple. Complexity destroys artists for little gain.

    What about African hair.. which goes in all directions? I cant seem to get that... How would you do a African Afro

    • @3dmutiny
      @3dmutiny  Před rokem +7

      Great question, this one can be a bit tricky. Here are some features that will change with African hair.
      The cards you make will be more squared as a UV island.
      You'll have more 3D cards orientated in varied directions.
      It will be more about the positioning of clusters than the flow of hair.
      But the workflow is similar, you'll just be using curves in a more chaotic fashion.
      I suggest looking at Uncharted 4 "Nadine". One of the best examples I've seen.

    At what point do you texture the hair (cards)? The color variation and so on

    • @3dmutiny
      @3dmutiny  Před 3 měsíci

      You can export a multicoloured ID map and texture it in Substance. Then you can select each color with color select.
      Mostly the colour is made in engine, so we don't put much base color in.

    How do i make curve control more precise and prevent the hair card from dettatching from its location?
    im using blender

    • @3dmutiny
      @3dmutiny  Před 10 měsíci

      Sometimes it depends on your scene size. Otherwise, you can experiment with changing the draw size. Just remember there are two draw sizes... The blue one and the red one. It changes if you hover over the line itself. Any more issues come into the Discord and I'll help you. discord.gg/YJb2PJ7w

    Thanks for the video. Does the length of a haircut significantly impact the texture appearance? Can I just take textures responding for long hair, squeeze it, and use it in the same way for middle length on a maniquene?

    • @3dmutiny
      @3dmutiny  Před 7 měsíci

      It depends how straight the hair is. If it's wavey then this would look weird.
      You should be able to manipulate cards in any way to get the desired result.
      However, if you want to change the hair strands later. Then you squished geometry may look bad on the new one. Something to consider.
      Best place to ask is on our Discord. So much experience there.

    Thanks but people always show the basics and placement of a few cards, while I wish someone would show how to build up and get a realistic hairstyle out of cards.
    Placing cards is the hardest part and everyone skips it :(

      @3dmutiny  Před 6 měsíci

      I'll see what I can do for you :)
      I suspect because It can take quite a bit of time for the artist to complete.

      First, thank you so much for the reply and the helpful video, I found a few good tutorials on what I needed (i.e: TriGon):
      Making clumps and building up the hair in layers arranged by density and such.
      Men's short hairstyle placing of cards is what I find most complex so far to get realistic results.

    • @3dmutiny
      @3dmutiny  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @Guy-rv2vl Definity, short hair is one of the hardest. Which feels a bit backwards😁 My suggestion is to use many different variants of the same density. More than 5 :)
