As a contact girlie since 3rd grade and now in grad school, I promise you'll get used to them and always carry your contact case because after a day of staring at my laptop I'm eagerly popping them out. The side effects of surgery aren't worth it in my opinion because while the statistics show it's safe the small percentage of people who have had it go wrong are left debilitated and in chronic pain

I got LASIK in one eye at 18 (I'm 25 now) and have had really great results since then. I wore glasses/contacts since I was in 2nd grade. Yes, your vision needs to be stable before they laser your cornea, so you really should start getting yearly vision checks. Also I would recommend doing a lot of research before getting LASIK to be an informed patient; I had a really great experience and no longer need to wear glasses (until I need reading glasses in my 40s like everyone else), but a lot of people have had lasting side effects -- you may not want to take that risk.

Lasik is amazing. The procedure only last about 20 minutes and you can see clearly the next day. Definitely consider not painful at all.
was there anything special you had to do leading up to the appointment? im worried they won't let me because I haven't been getting consistent eye exams

My sister and brother both got lasic eye surgery. They are SO happy with the results! Brother is 27 so I don't think you are too young. If you're thinking about it, a consultation never hurt anyone and then you know what your options are.

I love waking up seeing my sleep status and my stress levels throughout the day. I have the same problem with rings like you I wear my wedding ring and Oura ring and I also have a anxiety ring off Amazon it has little beads on it they I mess with so I mainly play with that ring and not my Oura ring but if your debating on getting one GET IT!! I spent 320 on mine it’s the silver heritage one the only difference between the heritage and horizon is the style of ring it will also track your workouts too when ever I’m done with a walk or house work it’ll let me know

@@KeeganActon a few months after being hospitalized for a week I developed severe cataracts because they gave me a lot of cortisone and it’s a possible side effect. My vision was 20% at the time so when had the cataract operation they also corrected my vision with laser. I remember having to wear only glasses for 10 days beforehand but after I had to rest for 2 weeks and couldn’t lift anything and had to sleep with special goggles on my eyes. I know people who got only laser and it pretty much was fine a couple days after they could go to work .

I’d suggest going with glasses first and wearing them. You should also get sunglasses with prescription living in Arizona. I think they are easier to get used to wearing everyday than you think. Once you start wearing them and see better you will love it.

happy anniversary! Quite an accomplishment. I am also a bagel girly. Blueberry bagel with blueberry cream cheese hits so hard. Have you tried putting peanut butter on your bagel for the protein? I'll do that sometimes to make it "healthy". As a 55 yr old woman, I'll let you know that it's okay to cry it out. I always was the "strong" type (typical logical Aquarius) but I've learned in my later years that I do have to address the emotions and just 'go with them". I let myself cry it out and then go into my "how we gonna fix this" mode. Also, I love watching your vlogs. I live in AZ and lived in Tempe during my college years and loved that area!

I’ve been wearing contacts since elementary school, I was so scared at first but they aren’t bad!! I don’t even feel them in!
I highly recommend Milan Athletic Club! It’s a women-only strength training gym in Scottsdale. The classes are capped at 5 people so it’s almost like having a personal trainer, but you still have other supportive people around you.

I used to be the same way about eye drops but I’ve been wearing contacts for over ten years and it’s de sensitized me to eye drops so now I can put them in myself without living in fear. You do get used to it and I actually learned to enjoy the feeling of eye drops bc it wakes me up and refreshes my eyes
do you have any advice for transition into wearing contacts?
@@KeeganActon watch lots of videos of how to videos. That always helped me to see that it doesn’t have to be a big deal and also seeing different ways to insert contacts to find the best way. I used to watch this video by s2pandapple on CZcams and it helped me hype myself up for it. Keep your hands clean and nails short in the beginning at least. Also can really help to insert the contact while looking slightly away. Hold your upper lid up by the lashes with your non dominant hand is what I do and then lightly press down on my under lid with my middle finger to create a little opening and then insert using your pointer finger. It definitely takes getting used to but you would be surprised at how adaptable you can be. For eye drops, sometimes it helps to aim it to your tear duct and let the solution kind of roll in and that can help you get used to the feeling of having something in your eye. It’s actually really awesome having contacts and it such a signal towards starting the day and feeling more awake and focused.
Watching videos from other people putting in contacts made me feel better about it because it’s so common. I used to love this video from a user called s2pandapple on CZcams. Keep your nails short. The way I insert my contacts (I have naturally long lashes and they can get in the way) is i use my non dominant hand to hold my eye open from the lashes with my palm facing my eye and fingers pointing down. I use the middle finger of my dominant hand to push on my under eye to create a little pocket and then have the lens on my pointer finger. It helps to sometimes look a little away from your finger when inserting if that makes sense. It’s scary at first but it’s genuinely not that bad and it becomes so second nature you won’t even worry about it

I had no idea until I went into the eye doctor I have astigmatism and opposing vision. One eye sees up close and the other distance so that was fun lol- I got glasses and still rarely wear them. When I do it makes SUCH a huge difference. I have to wear them at night bc it’s dangerous to drive at night without them at this point.
I can't deal with contacts either, I just wear glasses. I'm glad I like how I look in glasses, because Lasik terrifies me too and it wears away and you have to get it redone every decade and I can't even imagine doing it once 😢

i think contacts are super nice! obviously idk how having an eye phobia would impact this, but if getting them out is the problem, you can slide the contact to the outer edge of the eye and it’ll fold up and fall out, so it doesn’t feel like you’re all up in your eye bc i can’t do that either🥴

Not sure if you already know about it, but there are one-way window privacy films or frosted stickers that you can put in your glass door so people can’t see you inside. :)
I have personally looked into getting lasik eye surgery, and many people complain about eye pain and would recommend not getting it. I decided not to do it, but I would advise you to do your own research prior to deciding what you want to do.

I got LASIK surgery back in March 2023, and it was the best decision of my life. Just make sure to get LASIK, and not smile. The recovery process is sooo fast and the results are ✨

I am the exact same about my eyes..good luck getting eye drops in them. A full on NFL lineman would be needed to hold me down. I have glasses because no way putting something on my eyeball.

I have horrible eye vision, and I was told you had to have the same prescription for 2 to 3 years before your candidate of Lasik. I chose glasses honestly I’m just too lazy for contacts.

Great video! I'm sure you would do research on LASIK but just wanted to give a heads up that its pretty common for people to need it renewed after a few years so its not always a one and done procedure unfortunately :( I was considering getting it a few years ago but ultimately the idea of having to be awake for the whole surgery freaked me out 😬 If you do get it I would be so interested to hear about your experience!

Hii 😊, I'm just responding to the part about lasik eye surgery. There is a 50 50 chance of it either improving your vision or making it way worse, so just keep that in mind.

I think you just need a new eye prescription. I had a similar thought but after 5 years of not going to the eye doctor he told me that my prescription had changed and I’d developed astigmatism

Usually to be a good candidate for LASIK they want your eyesight to be stable so you have to have had the same prescription for at least 2 years, so if you feel like yours has been getting worse recently then you may not be a candidate. It’s basically so you don’t have to get surgery again in a few years because your vision has gotten worse. Definitely check with your eye doctor though! I really struggled with contacts at first but now it’s been like 15 years and it doesn’t bother me at all
Sometimes you just need to cry, as awful as it feels at the time. Give yourself some grace and love when you're struggling with something, feel what you need to feel, and be kind to yourself. Better days are coming. :)

Happy Anniversary! I just wanted to say that I hope you found some catharsis in venting what you could about what's been bothering you lately. I'm so sorry you're going through a difficult time right now. I wish you were able to talk more candidly about what's bothering you! Therapy has helped me get through similarly emotional/difficult times lately, but I also feel like journaling has been such a huge help to get those emotions out, get over that initial emotional rollercoaster, and be able to revisit what's bothering me and look at things more critically.
And I also just want to say that I love your realness through it all, up to and including sharing your emotions AND the stupid sweat stains, because it makes me feel more seen and, in a weird way, like I'm not alone in my average, everyday struggles??😂 I know that seems reaching, but that's what came to mind.
