You are right, I saw him for the first time on tv during the 1998 World Cup and he was amazing. I think many people don't know about Okocha, many African players know the art of dribbling but, not as good in scoring like the European players or South American players, and the fact that African teams never won the world cup doesn't help them either.

I remember his first game with PSG, he started on the banch. He entered the game in the second half, on one of his first touch he started to run from the midfield, one or two dribles, a sudden and powerful shot from 30m for a fantastic goal. Everybody loved him already.

I support Liverpool all my life, but this man made me like Bolton cause he was just so unbelievable with the ball. I had never seen anyone do that in the Premier League in the 90s.
Even till today, not many skilful players attempts these moves because they will fail, Okocha had that confidence and self belief in his ability. He had a special connection with the ball like no other player. I don't care if Messi is the GOAT, this man made football soo entertaining to watch.

The beauty of football is that entertaining side of it. Let's forget about the trophies. Once it's not entertaining, it doesn't interest me.
Okocha, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo (not CR7), and few others made that happened for me, and once the exited the stage, it became boring for me to watch football. Someone should tell these guys that I don't care about all the goals and runs. I want to see the dribbles. I want to see skills and intelligence in the game.
I've missed football for so long. Man is so sad.

When football was still about entertainment and passion. I remember watching the African Nations Cup Final in 2000 (Nigeria vs Cameroon). Cameroon was leading 2-1 and Okocha scored one of the greatest goals I've ever watched in my life for the equaliser (2-2). As a 13 years old Cameroonian supporter, I almost developed high blood pressure that day because of Okocha.
Though Cameroon had a very good squard with players like, Patrick Mboma, Rigobert Song, Marc-Vivian Foe, Samuel Eto'o, etc Okacha was the King; he was just phenomenal. He was a world class player!

he is the only player in the history of football that you cannot mark out of play either as a dm, cm, cam, rw, or lw even as a striker...........he made tremendous stable impact in every team he's played. comes with new stuff everytime on pitch and is never afraid to take risks. from qatar to germany to france and finally england. he was an inventive phenomenon and extremely versatile . ronaldinho, kaka, messi, ibra, suarez and all the big names have been marked out of the field of play childishly..........but this guy is a rare gem... his presence alone excites fans. imagaine fans coming to pay to watch him trainat reebok stadium......he stands steady to dribble anybody and infact the only player that does not speed dribble. he faces you messes you up with ease and he did that to all best players in his prime. he square plays like no other...both foot feint players were rare those days and finally note also that racism is extremely terrible in his days of play.
