    Did you add the RTV to the entire edge or just the spots where you pointed at? It’s my first time doing anything like this and don’t wanna mess up. Awesome vid though thank you!

    Hey I have a metal cover, could I use a plastic cover to replace?

    Mine hangs up on the right side of the engine, I've been a little too nervous to pry it off.

    • @OXCFilms
      @OXCFilms  Před 9 měsíci

      Maybe stick a blade in first just to break the seal

      Maybe a plastic trim tool or scraper to avoid bending/gouging the flange

    • @AlKaseltzer87
      @AlKaseltzer87 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@davidm3210 I was thinking that, but. I'm also worried about finding some plastic strong enough to pry on that without it breaking off and getting stuck.

      @@AlKaseltzer87 Check out the Harbor Freight 4 piece Nonmarring scraper -I used it on my oil pan job so as not to gouge the aluminum front of the block. Then move to the other side and pry a bit, maybe a tap with a rubber mallet. Just work it off slowly and you should be be fine. You are right to be concerned about damaging the flange and I was going to get a new OEM but they are discontinued. I've heard that some of the aftermarkets are not quite right and the valves tap against them (see Eric the Car Guy).
