I worked at an electronics store during the Wii / PS4 Christmas launch. I will never forget the lady who asked for "A Nintendo Weed". I was lucky enough to win a Wii in a staff party. Everyone told me to flip it but I kept it. Had so much fun playing it over the holidays. Served me well all this time.

That was probably my mom asking for the Nintendo Weed 😅 she surprised me with one that Christmas. I was 26
I remember my mom taking me to get the DS and Wii on launch day. Still have both consoles till this day and works like new, put them on display for memories
The 3DS was my first handheld that I bought (instead of parents/family buying it for me). I remember playing nothing but streetfighter 4 as launch titles in the UK were none exsistant. I also pre-ordered the Switch off amazon and although it was meant to be delivered by 9:00am on the day it didnt arrive until 10pm. I was pretty upset over it but once I got my hands on it my weekend was sorted. I ended up selling the original switch to buy the OLED model a few years later. I still can't believe the Switch is 7 years old, time passes too quick!

Waiting all day/night for a package -- especially if it was a Switch --- is absolute torture! Agreed, it's wild how quickly the Switch's life has passed!
My favorite version of Mario 64 is actually DS game. I’ve beaten both versions multiple times and always have more joy playing the DS version more.
The only systems I got on launch were my original Switch OLED, which I sold, and my Zelda OLED. My sister got the DSi when it launched, but I've never got a system day one. The closest was the Switch when they did a restock at my local Toys R Us. (Yes, they were opened when the Switch launched. They closed down a year later though.) It was a month or so after, but still close enough.
If you were a Zelda fan…the 3DS launch was goat’d. Playing OoT in 3D was amazing. 3DS sits as one of my all time favorite Nintendo consoles.

Ocarina of Time 3D would have been a nice launch title, but it didn't come out until 3 months after the 3DS!

I've never gotten a console on launch day, but I've gotten some of my consoles within the first year or so of release.
I remember the Wii console launch I was sold because the pointer and motion controls and speaker in the controller was magical to me and I just got Zelda because meh and have been a Zelda fan ever since lol
Man I feel so old watching the footage of you getting your Wii U, I know I probably looked so much younger back then 😅
I also remember not even knowing the Wii U had come out, we went to a friend of my girlfriend’s at the time because he had just gotten it. When she had told me a new Nintendo console came out and I didn’t even know I feel like that said everything about that console.
It's wild that it's already been 11 years since Wii U!

I don't know I've got a system at launch since the Wii and I've enjoyed it every time. The Wii was especially fun though because we were all packed into the garden center of Walmart for several hours

The switch is the only system i got on release day, I really didin't play it much till pokemon gen 8 released, I'll probably wait a bit to get the next nintendo system for when ever the next pokemon games release :D.
I stood outside of a Circuit City all night to get the Wii day one for my kids.
Yes if you want to play the latest games on that console, want to keep it on the lowest firmware for hacking purposes or you want to have the latest tech! Otherwise, don't as it takes a year or so for bugs to be fixed with later revisions.
I have never experienced a console launch since I am 13 right now and I didn’t exist at those times

I thought that this video would talk about if you should or shouldn’t get a Nintendo console on launch day, meaning I thought you were going to talk about differences between prices/different versions of the consoles and things like that. I remember back in 2017 when i saved up 200€ and my dad borowwed me another 150€ so i could buy a switch and mario odysee😵💫
Personally I don't like buying any new tech day 1. The 1st wave always has some bugs. The last time I broke this rule I got a phone that had terrible wifi range and the power button stopped working after 3 months.

I bought a Gamecube on launch day. Star Wars Rogue Leader was an amazing game. It was original trilogy based and that was before Disney destroyed the franchise with politics and money grabbing
