not sure I would be happy with 8.4kg for what is likely to be a £3k+ bike, but as most aero bikes suffer from terrible hidden caliper brakes, I suppose its worth the extra weight for brakes that actually stop you! Nice to see Giant are using a slot in seatpost again too as a moulded post can make transporting the bike in a bike box impossible. Looks fast though, just avoid the hills!
I'm seriously considering buying this bike on Wednesday, as I love sprinting and rolling hills and punchy climbs. I'm a sprinter/endurance guy more than a climber. How'd you choose between the propel and the tcr? Everyone's telling me go tcr because it's lighter, but I don't like the looks of it. Help please. Thank you.
One thing you might want to consider is that the new Propel only comes with disc brakes, although the older models do still come with rim brakes. If you're after lightweight, and stiffness-to-weight, it's the TCR. If you want aero it's the Propel. Aero is more valuable in the vast majority of situations. Having spoken to Mat, who has reviewed both bikes, he prefers the Propel and it has also had the most recent upgrade so will probably be current for longer
@@roadcc I went with the red propel as well. Just rode 187 miles on it last Sunday to test it's long distance capabilities, and it performed very well. Thanks for this valuable information and tips. Have a super day!
Hi how are you getting on with the giant propel advanced disc 2018? I am purchasing my first one this week in the red colourway. Just wanna make sure I have made the right choice. I have got it for £2050. which I like to think is a good deal? It looks brand new and has hardly done any mileage due to owner having a serious injury.
All you complainers, you would be the same type that complained when cars started coming out with plastic bumpers, I will bet you wouldn't buy a Lamborghini or Ferrari if they had chrome bumpers on their new models. I think it looks great and as it should look, ride it and you will change your minds.
Looks like Giant were too quick to get a product to the market place and skipped on a few things, the paint job is in my opinion sub par and the stem design looks like it was done by an accountant rather then an engineer. Haven’t ridden one yet (disk version) but I fail to see anyone upgrade to this from previous version, maybe if money no object. Entry level paint job should be the same as a DA version.
I'm not. And what's baffling is in that category of bike for a similar price most of the majors and some minor manufacturers do a similar, AND better, bike!
@@Jedsonmcfarly The only competitor on price and performance is Canyon Aeroad. To get a Venge you need to sacrifice wheels or pay more to get deep CF rims. All of the others cost more when doing a like for like comparison. As far as looks, who cares? Get the color you want once you learn how to evaluate suitability and the price you're willing to pay.
Good video. Simple, to the point, and with some very useful insights and nice detail shots.

Indie Bike better value than a Specialized!
What is the internal width of the rims?
Also, can I change the bar without changing the stem?
how can that brick on the front be aero??

life... hey would you mind giving me an update on how your propel has been this last 11 months? Would you recommend it?
@@johnrennicks7747 okay, I'll make a video on it as an update and add it to my video que. Thank you for message. Stay tuned and thank you
@@johnrennicks7747 I'll add the video to my channel, most likely tomorrow. Subscribe for more, on my channel. And thank you.
Made a review of my own. Stem is slammed. :)

Beauty of a bike except the headset spacers haha

Weight ?
Which fram size was weighted?
It was a medium/large frame so it was likely a 58 seeing as Mat reviewed it and he's 190cm tall
It looks nice, but for a bike of this price some of the things look really cheap and not fully thought through!
The bike itself looks ok.. but can something be done about that stem stack height.. it makes the darn front end looks like a giraffe's neck.
Disc...becsuse the standard Propel brakes are horrific. Fast bike though.
Bullshit.
What back Break is on the left shifter what?
almost puked when i saw all those spacers on an aero bike...
illegally owned your on the wrong channel then
I also almost puke everytime I see pretentious wannabe racers who assume everybody should ride slammed stems
who said you should slam your stem?
how do you call not having "all thos spacers on an aero bike" then?
11robotics If you want to be aero, than buy an aero bike with a slammed stem, otherwise buy an endurance bike...

very weird looking stem
It is definitely different but personally I think it looks quite tidy
poorly engineered stem and stem area. take a look at BMC how to do it correctly
sharphand with a correctly adjusted BMC price no doubt
Looks like and absolute bag of hammers.....horrible colour way, terrible graphics, overly tall stem........urgh!
So you're not a fan... 😂
