    Hi CheekyCrumbs! So I did the gelatin part to test and for some reason when they dry, they come out lopsided and not so spherical as yours. I tested with one that was dipped once and the other dipped twice. The one that was dipped twice looks super think and chunky. Am I not using enough water in the mixture? Please help! I have to make 20 of these bad boys haha. ( I also used normal balloons. I can't find water balloons anywhere here since it's winter)

    • @Cheekycrumbs
      @Cheekycrumbs  Před 7 lety

      Hi! Are you using leaf gelatin or powder gelatin? Because leaf gelatin is a lot more transparent than powder gelatin. Also you need to check the strength of your gelatin. The stronger the "bloom" the better. I could suggest maybe try a different brand of gelatin and make sure its leaf gelatin so its nice and transparent even with 2 coats.

    • @LT-ml2ki
      @LT-ml2ki Před 7 lety

      Oh my goodness that was fast! I'm using a brand from "Dr. Oetker". They are sheets of gelatin. but it doesn't say anything about it being leaf gelatin in particular. Perhaps that's where I'm going wrong... I'll try to find leaf gelatin. Thanks a bunch!! :)

    • @Cheekycrumbs
      @Cheekycrumbs  Před 7 lety +2

      Hehe crumbs are awesome! Leaf gelatin is the same as sheet gelatin. Try adding some more water and doing a double dip so it is less thick but strong. I haven't used that brand so am not sure about the strength of the gelatin.

    • @LT-ml2ki
      @LT-ml2ki Před 7 lety

      Ahhh so leaf and sheets are the same. Pardon my noob-ness, for this is my first time working with gelatin haha. Ok so add more water and double dip. Ok thank you very much!

    Great video! I was just wondering how many sheets of gelatin you put in the bowl to soak initially? Thanks 😊 x

    • @Cheekycrumbs
      @Cheekycrumbs  Před 8 lety

      Thank you! The sheets I had were 2g each and in total I used 36g so they were 18 sheets :) some gelatin sheets have a different weight so I prefer to measure in g than number of sheets :)

    • @HannahBananaxxxX
      @HannahBananaxxxX Před 8 lety

      +Cheeky Crumbs - Great, so in the video you literally put all 18 sheets of gelatine into the water at the same time to soak for 10 mins? So they are on top of one another? Or did you do it one sheet at a time? Just other recipes have said not to clump all the gelatine together! Thanks :) Also great kitchen aid! I have the exact same one! :) X

    • @Cheekycrumbs
      @Cheekycrumbs  Před 8 lety

      +Hannah Elsbury in the video i only put 6 sheets as i had already made my balloons the day before and was just showing the process. What i did is i put 12 sheets at the same time but before putting them i separate them and they don't clump together and it's not a problem. Then half way through my balloons i put the rest of the sheets as I need them for the second dipping :) hope that helps!

    • @HannahBananaxxxX
      @HannahBananaxxxX Před 8 lety

      +Cheeky Crumbs - that helps a lot thank you!! In terms of ratio then am I right in thinking that six gelatin sheets once soaked should be heated with 3 tbsp of the same water they were soaked in? Or is it 12 sheets to 3 tbsp of water? 😊 xx

    • @Cheekycrumbs
      @Cheekycrumbs  Před 8 lety +1

      +Hannah Elsbury no its 24g of gelatin for 3 tbsp of water so for all 36g its 4.5 tbsp of water when heated. I used the water they were soaking in :)

      +Joe lynch They last quite a bit! My cupcakes didn't last too long in my house and no-one really ate the globes as they don't taste of anything but I reckon they would hold for at least a week! They become like plastic!

    I am having a very hard time with mine. they do not want to come off of the Balloon

    • @Cheekycrumbs
      @Cheekycrumbs  Před 8 lety

      +The Liz Show HTX oh no! You can try putting very little oil on your hands and dabbing the balloons. They should not be shiny with oil though or the gelatine won't stick so if you put too much just use a paper towel to remove the excess.

    • @thelizshowhtx4402
      @thelizshowhtx4402 Před 8 lety

      +Cheeky Crumbs when you are adding the gelatin are your balloons tight as in there is no room for more air? I have used tiny water balloons and reg party balloons I am using bronze Gelita sheets I bought in houston texas.

    • @thelizshowhtx4402
      @thelizshowhtx4402 Před 8 lety

      +Cheeky Crumbs also where are you located. is there alot of humidity? I need to figure this out befor the 20th have like 36 to make. I have tried various thickness. so frustrating....

    • @Cheekycrumbs
      @Cheekycrumbs  Před 8 lety

      My balloons weren't too tight they could have been blown up almost double I'd say. Also I used stronger gelatine (platinum/gold are best) however this shouldn't be the reason the balloons are sticking. Maybe try and change balloon type and also add some oil over the balloon before the gelatine. When you pop the balloon don't pull it away just let it come off on its own (could take up to 30 minutes although mine always came off immediately) so be patient!

    • @Cheekycrumbs
      @Cheekycrumbs  Před 8 lety

      I am in Italy and it's not very humid. If I were you test the oil on the balloon and try a different balloon brand. For 36g of gelatine you need 4.5 tsp of water.

    Let me clarify my rant..how are measuring or weighing 36g of gel sheets, I kind of need to know that? With a good scale? What?..AND!!! are you oiling or greasing your ballons first before you submerge them?, and if so with what???.. Getting my point here???

    • @Cheekycrumbs
      @Cheekycrumbs  Před 5 lety

      Dee Trigg haha your comment made me giggle! I feel your struggle 😊 i weighed the gelatin with a kitchen scale. I can’t really say how many sheets as in different countries and different brands have different size sheets but when you buy the pack it says how many g they are. I did not oil the balloons before dipping 💪🏻 happy baking 😘
