I remember xrd day , before rev2 nerf raven is so annoying by orb oki , it basically pure guess till end , so people group up to solved problem , that is the most FGC time for me , what a good old day. After rev2 raven is fine , not broken , just solid character.
Dragonfly's video was very cool and I wish others did the same for XYZ characters in Xrd it would show the changes and what the devs had in mind for each change. Raven is definitely not as strong as he used to be and yeah he can be annoying but this Version of Raven I like the most. He can freeform and lets me be creative almost like my other Main I use (Faust) I can think of something and work it into my gameplan it allowed me to have fun beside just using Faust. The Nerfs are welcome to me. It made him not stupid easy (call him easy in Rev 2 if you want) but he was a welcome change with a lot of room to do cool shit.
I might be betraying other Raven mains by saying this, but _if_ he came to Strive (unlikely prolly...), since Strive is already on a hardcore streak of reworking characters pretty significantly, I honestly would like to see him reworked to have his kit revolve around the masochist stance and managing excitement resources as a core part of his game plan far more. Probly would mean a hard hit in a lot of his other areas (not that he'd mind), but it'd be a refreshing take from a design perspective. And...can always go back to Xrd for scarf shennanigans.

I'm also a Fellow Raven Main and I can say for sure if he can to strive he would be reworked. I honestly like Raven and combo into many things. He can allow you to freeform and be unique in many situations. Taking that away would hurt his fun factor. But let's say he was in stirive the reason he didn't get new moves in Rev 2 was because of how he was designed in Xrd. Hell they even changed his visual design so add to his gameplay. If they took some of it away or locked it behind his Horny bar (let's be honest that's what it is XD) it could be interesting but also odd Because what Made Raven a Snow ball character is BECAUSE of the meter. His Oki game was Nerfed from Base Xrd to rev 2 and it's lock down was also gutted but it's much more worth it if he is at high levels. More combo opportunities from his command grabs and everything or more hitstun on some moves. I don't like how Strive fucks characters over sometimes when they are brought back. But Raven is simple his Air dash should be the same if that's Gone he is not the same tbh. Maybe mix some of his Old moves he had in Guilty Gear 2. That would be interesting. But overall keep him familiar. He has always been focused on the Horny bar so if they wanted to lean more into it...again it would be more interesting.
Strive already has a plethora of resource management we need anything but that or else the game is over saturated with complexity dependant on resources - Zato with Eddie Gauge and HC with bullets and focus albeit zato always had eddie gauge. We need different types of management and complexity within a characters kit that is a uniquely fresh take. I personally am against characters being stripped of tools but the character strength is already high in strive not as much as previous games but within new fg standards its really up there. How's about we just say fuck it give characters all their tools and rebalance from there. Testing the waters while making the game even more enjoyable or even add new mechanics without all together removing the old iconic moves? KY greed sever and grinders baiken parrys millia hair pin most notably although greed sever was replaced with foudre arc but still.

I think most of the hate LK (and most people) have for him is from his earlier versions, which is justifiable bc the orb loop mix was baby easy, super strong, and he got it off of literally every hit. Now it’s only specific hits, and he’s just kinda okay

I think LK kinda oversold needle YRC because like, it costs a lot more than 25% meter when you take into account tension pulse and meter cool down etc etc, and if you you spend your first 25 meter on it you could find yourself not getting another one until like 15 seconds later. His mobility is also a blessing and a curse bc his airdash forward is super committal and terrible for escaping the corner/punishing fireballs (which is why he has that invincible dash, because he needs a way to beat fireballs predictively). He’s not a particularly annoying character in the whole scheme of Xrd unless you don’t like getting poked in neutral I guess, but even then more characters do it better than him. He’s pretty average in strength and annoyance level

Idk why you think I'm saying Raven ain't that bad cuz I play him or something, when I play Sin. Even if Baiken was worse than Raven (which she definitely isn't), having to create an entirely different gameplan for a single matchups is a lot more annoying than "This guy has good buttons and mix" every time

People talk about Elphelt a lot but I've always hated Raven more. Even putting his conversion ability away, his kit is just busted. One projectile with a movement debuff, another one built for Oki, a damaging air dash, killer super, free armour on demand...I'd rather deal with pineberry

Since day 1, this has been Xrd to me, this matchup right here. Xrd is not popular at the locals, but it's the game that I like. There's only one other person at our local scene that plays this game, my usual training partner and it's either Sol, Raven or the occasional Baiken. Playing Sin in this matchup always felt really bad, because it really makes me question what I'm being restricted for by my resource, when this bastard's doing everything in the world and gets to enjoy a resource that only makes him better at everything. Sin might not be a paragon of balanced design himself, but if nothing else, it at least feels like he has to give something up to reach the highs he does. It never feels that way when I look at Raven. Screen control, conversions, amazing reversal, pressure that's hard to contest, solid oki, there is nothing I have that Raven cannot take from me.
I never got to play xrd much but raven became my favorite character of all time cause he was stupid easy and I only had to worry about neutral. Still don't get how og orb was allowed to release like that

Offense is the reward, and has no reason to be rewarded beyond the ability to win. Making defense not a disastrous mess is better for majority. If I had to choose between fun and not being miserable, I would take not being miserable 10/10 times because loss/pain aversion is basic level human psychology.

You block all the overheads, lows, keep an eye out for the command grab, then when you push him back enough after blocking all his shit he needles yrc for another free mix. To me thats the most annoying thing. Like he he can instantly start his mix off any knockdown or blocked button. But keeping a cool reactive head and finally pushing him out just for him to get back in. Feels like he’s so good at getting meter to. Also Armor into super mad fucking annoying

IB into air throw is a common anti air tactic against some buttons/air to air interactions because air IB reduces blockstun by a fuckton and air throw is literally instant, so if you IB a button trying to be a jump in, or in this case a whiffed air throw, you basically get a guaranteed air throw punish
