For me, I'd need to hear how good the RX and DSP are before getting excited. Thetis and and $400 HL2 already sounds better and can do Pure Signal. I haven't seen/heard anything yet that gets me really pumped. I was an early adopter of the Flex 3000 and would love to see something fresh.

I have the HL2 and it's a great video, just wish it came in a 20-30 watt model. I also have the elad and it's right there with the HL2 and thetis and very light on the computer unlike Thetis. Thanks for watching!

Good afternoon Chuck, do you have any guesses about what the new Icom radio will be?

IC 7851 replacement most likely, or could be a 200 watt Ic-7610 addition. Just guessing though

Jeem will undoubtedly sell his Flex to upgrade to 8600.

Too expensive to just talk to someone, buy a phone or go visit .

First of all thanks for watching and commenting. Phones theses days can cost a pretty good chunk of that radio, unless you want to use an old flip phone which isn't really comparable. This is a top of the line type radio so as for a phone top of the line Iphone or Android based phone would be comparable. In both cases phone or radio you can buy less expensive. Then the phone has a monthly fee and that adds up and to the cost. I still have a phone even with the cost. I have talked to friends all over the world and to go visit would be a huge cost in flights and just my time for the travel both ways, but I would like to visit them some day it would be fun. Lets figure a closer person that I talk to most days in San Diego. That would be a round trip of about 1100 miles, 17 hours with no stopping or traffic. Fuel would be $220-250.00, a motel while there food I eat anyway so a wash. Not to mention wear and tear on the vehicle. Ham Radio is a hobby and this radio is on the higher end price wise, just like phones you have a choice.

@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures dang man, that's way more than I would have typed when responding to such an ignorant comment! I was the Flex booth at SEA-PAC today, I was on the fence between an 8400 and an IC-7610 but not any longer. I'm headed to 8400-land.

Remember regardless of how expensive your radio is, the same idiots will be heard on them all, save your money and remember, Ham Radio is only a hobby.
