Do you actually own the plot of land and you can travel there or what?
I find it rediculous that they had so many outfits and yet modern shows cant even give their characters more than one look and maybe pajamas... (superhero outfits dont count as cloths)
I love the concept of the video, but I am very disappointed in this sponsorship. Established Titles is a very shady company, and there is no evidence that they actually plant trees or are even based in Scotland. Their reviews have been astroturfed to the sky on websites like TrustPilot, and the very premise of the company plays on the idea of the sale of noble titles (which is historically a tricky legal subject). They attempt to deceive people into believing they hold an actual title of nobility that comes along with the land, but holding an actual title is a legal status in Scotland and some other countries that is not afforded to the purchaser of one of these certificates. They also claim that people will own a plot of land, but the purchaser doesn't even own the land according to Scottish law. There are numerous companies doing the same thing as Established Titles, and there are a number of CZcams videos, blog posts, etc. discussing these scams in-depth that I recommend people check out before considering using this website. Buyer beware.
@@mikan1546 ok nice info! I've seen similar on Facebook and thought it was pretty shady, but got confused seeing it here as a sponsor
Karolina, can you make a video about Winx Club's fashion next? It too was quite popular for it's fashion. (mostly the golden age of it)
I AM HERE FOR THE TOTALLY SPIES PRAISE.
I remember reading that it is one of the FEW animated shows where the characters change their clothes every episode. The aesthetic, the cheap anime-inspired animation, the characters, goofy villains. Absolute UNIT of a show.
It's lowkey better than any Bond movie after Casino Royale

What are other shows that change outfits?
I love how unapologetically girlie Totally Spies could be. One of my favorite parts was their weapons! The lipstick lazers! The multiple purpose ring! A barette that was a camera or buzzsaw! The hairdryers! Like I really love how much they took items that women used and was like this could be something. Also, I loved their catsuits! How each of them were smart, stylish and athleticâŠ.man I just really like Totally Spies.
When the Nancy Drew movie came out, one of the toys for the movie was a pen that looked like lipstick. đ I remember pretending it was a laser lipstick like from the show. Totally Spies was one of the best "girlie girls can be cool too" shows. đ
lmao the lipstick laser always makes me laugh because of that dumb physics logic gif where clover uses it with the mirror to break open the metal door instead of just directly suing the laser to break open the door
I remember wanting the heart shaped jet-backpack so badly lol
YES, and how they were alll bubbly, girly, genuine, intense, giggely, but still extremly smart, capable and loyal. That their femininity was never discredited or took away from their power. And Jerry was so nice, never dissing them even when they were messy and childish, I loved him, a good father figure. And the friendship between the girls is so beautiful!!! I mostly met Mandys in my life....... Im SO watching this from season 1 episode 1 right now đ€©đ€©đ€©đ€©đ€©đ€©đ€©đđđđđđđđđ here we gooooo, here we gooooooooo
When I was a kid, it never mattered to me that they were girlie. Their fawning over boys, clothes and the works never bothered me, showing that demographics are not everything for a show. They could kick ass and look Totally awesome while doing it. In fact Clover is my favorite because she was equal parts smart, strong and capable, as well as (in my opinion) the most stylish. Though that also could have been because I had a cartoon crush on her when I was young. And as you said, their gadgets were the coolest. I didn't care they were girlie or looked like girl products. I wanted the heart shaped jet-backpack, the laser lipstick and the compact!
They actually paid a fashion designer $80k(?) to design all of the clothing in the series!! It was over 150 outfits!
This is one of my favorite videos youâve made :)
80k??? That's insane....but the designer popped off so it's ok đ .

The animators have nothing to do with it, haha. They just draw what they're told.
This! Totally spies and Winx Club were a couple of my favourite shows growing up! And I always LOVED the character's style :' )
I really appreciate the presence of Winx Club and Totally Spies growing up. Not only were they very positive towards female friendships, but also telling people you can love pretty things and be smart and strong at the same time.

@@amiraebrahim1008 Not only girls tbh. A lot of my guy friends watched totally spies when they were younger. It was a really good cartoon concept cuz you had the whole spies and action aspect which boys would like while still being a âfeminineâ show.
Me too
Not only has the fashion aged really well (which it has), I think the show overall has aged quite gracefully. I've probably got some nostalgia coloring that opinion, but, I imagine it'd still go over well with a lot of kids today, and it wasn't particularly prone to anything problematic, which cannot be said for many things of the era. Good visual design, good sound design, fun storytelling.
I mean I love it, but it does have some 2000 issues like diet culture and fat phobia
@@RoxiriOrSokai We still have a diet culture, it's just on newer styles of diets. The fat phobia is a mixed bag. We shouldn't be body shaming people on their weight, but we also shouldn't be saying obesity is a good thing.
@@RoxiriOrSokai Why do yall apply today's morals to shows/movies/content from 20+ something years ago? It's exhausting and highly illogical.
@@RoxiriOrSokai Well yes but actually no. Looking at it objectively, the spies were teenage girls growing up in Beverly Hills in the early 2000s, of course they would care about their appearance (as teenagers still do nowadays) and diet culture was probably at its peak back then. But most episodes where they would make weight gain a focus topic, there would be some sort of lesson at the end about accepting yourself the way you are or at least being thankful for what you have.
@@donttalktomeyoureannoying8736 This was answer to a comment about how it has aged, ergo why it's being compared to today's standards.
This show was one of the few that made "girly" look badass because of all the cool weapons and gadgets that looked like everyday women's products. That was always my favorite part of each episode, seeing what the girls would get for each mission.
the lipstick lasers â€ïžâ€ïž
I particularly loved that the characters had⊠a rotating closet đ. We didnât see them in the same fit or color scheme in every episode. It was great!

Same!
YES I LOVED THAT- NO ONE WAS GLUED TO ONE THEME IT IS AMAZING
THAT'S IT I'M GOING TO REWATCH TOTALLY SPIES, MONSTER HIGH AND BRATZ AGAIN
Totally spies and sailormoon made me so happy that they changed outfits every episode! I loved fashion even as a kid and seeing my favorite characters having a sense of style makes me even now happy. For the 60-70s fashion inspiration I think a lot of it has to do with the show calling back to spy craze from the 60s and 70s with James bond, shaft, and foxy brown.
And Charlie's Angels tooo!! It is about 3 girl spies!!

I feel you with Alex. She's also my favorite and a lot of times, I don't really like her fashion choice. But I think they deliberately made her choices a bit sloppy because she is the clumsy one of the group and the one to least care about her looks compared to Sam and Clover. I see myself in Alex because I also grew up Tom-boyish but I also like girly things, even more now that I'm older. haha. She will always be my fave.
I think Alex was also a year younger than Sam and Clover, so she's still coming into her own personality
@@casper7319 I don't think it's because of one's age. I'm gonna make myself an example. I'm older than the rest of many, many girls who are into fashion. And I couldn't care less It's because I just wanted to feel comfy rather than looking stylish đ And oh this isn't meant to sound that I'm trying to be a pick me girl pls don't get that twisted
I thought Alex clothes was nice
Anyways caring about your looks is NOT tomboyish. There are lots of men who take care of their looks.
Alex is still pretty overall and she does scream when her face is ugly
The animation company actually paid a fashion company $80k to design over 1000 outfits for the girls. It was an effort to give off an authentic Beverly hills cool girl impression.
The girls have so many outfits they never wear the same one twice and sometimes go through multiple outfit changes in a single episode.
Totally Spies, Winx club, and Sailor Moon all had amazing fashion that honestly still holds up. They all had a bunch of outfits and they're all fantastic

bruh Totally Spies was THE SHOW!
boys and girls were watching it, it was fire! i'm a guy too and i love that cartoon, it's amazing! there's everything there, there's interesting characters, fashion, action, villains... just everything. It is a great cartoon and i think it was the favourite for many boys and girls!
When I was a kid, like 8 or 9, cartoons were considered to be for babies (insane right? Everyone was watching mtv or family guy whatever adult television) But man I loved cartoons and I watched totally spies everytime it was on. It was hard to talk to anyone since no one my age cared about cartoons smh
same here. i got 2 brothers and they also love watching it because it's simply a really good show.
I love how they didnt vilify being feminine. They are feminine and can totally kick ass.
i love Totaly Spies too!
I am a 36 year old mother and have absolutely considered making my teen die of embarrassment because these fashions are showing back up in stores. The impulse to buy them all is so incredibly strong. The only thing stopping me is the desire to not buy any more fast fashion. 1000/10, amazing video.
Try Thrift Stores or Vintage Online Closets đđŒââïž
Do it.
A similar thing can be found in the Winx Club tv show. I think it's less relatable because it's more stylized and extra, but a literal goal of that show was to advertise fashion, i.e. they hired Italian designers to create all their clothing. I still see people referencing the clothes of that show.
European fashion looks cute too
and its so sad that they fcked up they styles in live action show :( animated winx was iconic
I LOVED Totally Spies, still do, and I think a big part of why I love it so much is that they managed to showcase feminine characters without putting them in a box. I found a lot of shows around this time gave female characters a "type". They were girly, or nerdy, or goth, or tomboy/athletic, and they never drifted from their assigned personality type. Totally Spies allowed the girls to be full people with personalities. They were able to be feminine while also being badass, or nerdy, or athletic. They were never just one thing, and I really appreciate that. Also I work in animation and I know first hand what a massive pain in the ass it is to have characters dressed completely differently in every episode, so major kudos to the people who worked on this because that's not simple to do.
Oh my god, I was SO into Totally Spies as a kid that I would write them letters and my mom would pretend that they called her to answer me. Good stuff. (I remember seeing some Polish kidâs choice awards on the channel they aired on - Jetix? - and some cosplayers took the award for Totally Spies in their name, so thatâs how my baby brain thought they actually exist lmao).
I always liked that they have a different outfit in every episode, at least they werenât all-talk about the fashion. I guess that was inspired by Sailor Moon which also made characters wear different outfits.
oh I remember Jetix XDD it also aired in Russian television
Omg Jetix! It was the same in The Netherlands and I absolutely devoured this showđ
OMG Jetix! Anyone here also remembers Fox Kids and Supermax? Those were other tv stations :D my childhood :D

Jetix disappearing was a tragedy for little me :,(
I thought Alex was more of a tomboy/athletic type, but yeah, spot on with your analysis of the girls' outfits.
its weird because technically all the girls are athletic. they're spies after all
Totally Spies was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I saw myself in Alex a lot bc I was dark skinned and liked both tomboy and girly fashions. I always headcannoned Alex as South or Southeast Asian too
Oh yes!!! South Asians and South East Asian barely get any representation
What really?!? I never knew this!! Alex was always my favourite! How couldâve not known this đ
Totally Spies is HUGE in Brazil too. They kept reruns forever here. The care that they put in the girls wardrobe is amazing.
We need more 2D cartoons with human proportions again! That's what make their outfits look right.
This is a very good point.
Or just understand that itâs art and that thereâs a style sometimes? Fiction =/= fantasy
The main example I can think of nowadays would probably be DC shows like Young Justice
Right?! 3D cartoons for me are so stiff.
@Day omg I love that youâre saying this! Itâs like everyone HAS TO start unnecessary arguments now
I was a huge tomboy growing up. Although I never enjoyed participating in super girly things myself I LOOOOVED seeing them on TV. Totally Spies was my favorite show alongside Danny Phantom (I dress like Sam now) and Kim Possible. I wish Disney Channel didnât antagonize femininity, that shit fucked me up in middle school. Growing up I really enjoyed seeing pink satured girly things Disney Channel made me belittle those. I totally had a ânot like other girlsâ phase in middle school simply because of the content I was exposed to. Now I look back and appreciate the things I once looked down upon.
Also as an open bi girl now i have a soft spot for bimbos and femmes đ©đ„đ
Same energy as Mona Mayâs costume design in clueless. Of the era but not necessarily representative, distinct color palette and use of motif, and a constant source of inspiration for 90s looks today. I think yellow and black plaid says it all.
Totally Spies were like teenage PowerPuff girls. They even went with same hair colour and length xD Having said that, I loved the series and it's nice when you talk about something you really like :)

Omg I was looking for this comment :D I looooooved WITCH! WITCH and Totally Spies are series or my childhood
They discontinued in my country right after a twist that a some villain was alive (the aunt, IIRC). I spent years thinking why they'd end a series with that only to find out they didn't :(

To be fair, 60s and 70s fashion was big in the late 90s and early 2000s American fashion for teens. I had several pair of Mudd jeans that were bell bottoms, Britany Spear's Opps! music video had her in a red jump suit and very 60s styles, there also had a lot of flower fashion in this period on hats and shirt fronts. Scooby Doo was in big with a lot of teens as a 'look'. So seeing it in Totally Spies wasn't a shock to me. It was reflective of the period.
I love Alex's style, her fits remind me of Dion from Clueless, a bit edgy and with more street style influences but still cute and sometimes pretty feminine and both sides of that lend themselves to a very youthful vibe. Her green/khaki looks with crop tops were awesome đ
Loved seeing this video in my notifications, what a cross-over! This video has me CONVINCED that my personal style came from this show. I absolutely adore the current trends mixing the 2000s with the 60s/70s aesthetics.
Yesss
60s, 70s and 2000s are the best
It makes complete sense to me that you love Totally Spies. The fashion was so much fun. As for the 70's inspiration, that was related to the 70's revival in the 2000's (you can really see it in the X-Men movie that came out around then as well).
THIS! I remember well the peasant style and bell bottoms mixed in w the 90s vibes!!!
I was super into like "fashion books" with stickers or tracing styles in the early 2000s and they were all like this lol. The Polly Pocket fashion creator online game was IT.
Have you seen who Sam is friends with? It is near impossible that Clover would let Sam get out with dressing nerdy. Clover would intervene and prevent a fashion disaster before it happens.
I like to guess that the designers and writers for the show had fun picking out outfits for the girls each episode.
I like that the show had "girly elements" but that didn't stop it from attracting a male audience. It also didn't feel the need to add "manly elements" in order to attract a male audience. I really enjoyed it back in the day and I recently gave it a rewatch. I know other male friends who said that they enjoyed watching it as kids. (what is considered girly or manly is different for lot of people so just plug in your interoperation as you read this)
I took this show for granted when I was a kid, but now I understand the creators deserve some huge respect for coming up with all those different outfits in the times when Andy Larkin rocked his white t-shirt. And it went on for 13 years? Wow.
P.S. Alex was my favorite, too)
You heard it here first, folks: Totally Spies is Victorian era approved!
I always enjoy the originality behind such content ,also I didnt know "Totally Spies" was such a popular cartoon show. Here in Serbia we got to watch "The Powerpuff Girls" only :D P.S. My kids were more into anime at the time, so I missed this. One cool thing I noticed is that the girls have ever-so-slightly different body types (I.e., the blond girl is slightly longer-waisted and the brunette is slightly short-waisted). I donât know if kids would consciously see that, but I can hope it slipped into their subconscious.
Their bodies doesn't look realistic or humanic body but what? I didn't notice anything like that!
The really amazing thing is that they put them IN so many unique outfits. I can't really think of very many shows where the characters got to have multiple outfits. And certainly not THIS many. Incredible
I always though the fashion in Totally Spies reminded me of Kim Possible. Where it's clothes that seemed simple but cool that you wish your family could afford to buy you.

I'm also Karolina, I'm Polish and I call myself the biggest fan of âTotally spiesâ, unfortunately, this is where the similarities end because my favourite one was Sam đ
For some time now I have been repeating myself films aimed for teenagers and I often feel cringe, but the spies put me in a good mood - I feel like in the days of the primary school, when I turned on the TV after a hard day at school, lunch is already eaten and in half an hour my friends will come to take me for a playground.
Outfits of spies, other characters and the whole style of animation are obviously brilliant. I think Mandy's purple outfits are especially wearable nowadays âș
I love so much the fact that you do whatever you genuinely feel like doing. This is so random, I love it.â„ïž
The fact that totally spies mix the (at the time) current fashion with 60s-70s reminds me a lot of how jawbreaker mixed the 90s with the 60s. Because of the 20 year rule, I think series that use this rule of thumb betray it with mixing two decades 30 years a part. You'd tend to either blend the 80s with the 90s or the 70s and 90s... Not the 60s. Same can be said with totally spies (although I think the callback to the 70s is partially bc of the spy craze in that era).
In Mina Leâs video on Fran Fineâs fashion, she mentions that during the 90âs there was a 60âs fashion revival going on. So it may be because of that that those aesthetics are merged
Buffy also has late 60s vibes, it's a good blend
Edit: Buffy herself, not particularly other characters. Everyone had their own developing aesthetic
I feel so validated as a 27yo drawing fan art of this for the first time in decades
Wow! Throw back. I was always a tomboy. This and legally Blond, are the reasons I became comfortable with my femininity as I was going through my teen years. This not only made girly cool without being cringy. It also made me fill that if I felt girly once in a while then do it.

For two years now since I rewatched the show I've been saying to everybody that Totally Spies! is the best aesthetic. Extremely y2k girls who beat the s*** out of bad men on the daily?! Come on! Literally every episode every girl has a different outfit on. So much inspiration there!
I wanted to be them so much đ.
It's so cool seeing how those cartoon's influence kids around the world, My childhood in Brazil was really marked by them đ
Historically accurate Totally Spies fashion.
I've always loved totally spies it was always so fun, but now that I think about it more in depth, it's cool since it showed that women didn't need to be masculine to be strong. "Girlieness" was also powerful!
Honestly, I know you say your hair is not in era, which is right, but I feel like the vibe is not *that* different from like... Something tight and very up with lots of braids or mini buns/knots etc that you absolutely would have seen back then.
I submit for your consideration: 1930's spy, but a Totally Spy.
This video is such a nostalgia bomb. I remember basically running home from elementary school just to tune in the latest episode of Totally Spies. Thank you, Karolina! â€ïž
I've heard that fashion designers designed most, if not ALL, of the outfits that Clover, Sam and Alex were wearing in the show. And they basically wore a different outfit in every episode (aside from their WOOHP spy jumpsuits, of course)
This I will always like - people nerding out (with feeling) about their personal obsessions from some part of their earlier lives (and my daughter - 25 yo now - absolutely adored Totally Spies!!!)
Nice to know someone managed to be even more obsessed with this show than I was lmao. Now that I think about it, Totally Spies (or ekhem ODLOTOWE AGENTKI) shaped my aesthetic preferences....
I was just as obsessed, i still have most of the stuff I collected. Totally spies and W.I.T.C.H.
A woman with victorian hair and 2000s makeup and clothes... this video will baffle historians of the 24th century
I lived during this era and watched almost all episodes. Their room was everything, also their clothes too. So fashion.
I also loved to watch it. And along early 2000 shows with an emphasis on fashion, do you guys remember Winx Club? I would love to see Karolina's take on their outfits.
I was obsessed with Winx Club!
I don't know what other regions might also relate to this. But I grew up in the southern part of British Columbia, in Canada. When I was in 6th grade(1999/2000) the popular fashion was definitely 70s inspired. Bell bottoms, halter tops, and platform boots or sandals. Also peace sign everything. I remember unironically saying "groovy" a lot.
The 70s inspiration definitely drifted thru the early to mid 00s, but I remember it being super popular that school year.
Sounds like Iâm a year or two older than you and I definitely remember the 70s inspo!!!
I totally thought she was saying âTotally Spiceâ and that it was a cartoon of young versions of the Spice Girls. Yeah, I am not an intelligent person.

Finally its here
Wow, didnât expect a totally spice nostalgia train tonight, thanks!
How about maybe Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen TAS fashion review?
I was a very intense Powerpuff Girls fan at this age in the exact same way. All the merch, fan club member, literally always Blossom for Halloween. I always believed Totally Spies was a continuation of the series, secretly, because they used all the same archetypes, right down to the hair colors and cuts.
It was vibes! I loved it! Sugar and Spies and Everything Nice!
Itâs a timeless show! My daughter was born after the show ended and she loves it!
Totally Spies has a huge place in my heart, I loved that show so much, played the games on cartoon network's website and their own website! Sam was my fav, her smarts were so inspiring to me! I'm so happy that you decided to make this video, here for the Totally spies Praise
I was just smiling the whole timeeee, growing up in the UK totally spies was not as popular as in Europe ,so the fact that you honoured and analysed a childhood classic giving it the merit it deserves, just made my inner child soooo happy.
Totally spies and teen titans were my everything in early middle school. LOVE YOU CLOVER! đ
I freaking loved this show! In my country was aired by fox kids which then became Disney XD. Literally XD was part of the logo.
I never couldâve dreamed of this video, but itâs exactly what I needed! I loved this show so much âšđ€©
The fashion is one thing I absolutely LOVE about this show. It's timeless, and just so cute. I've always wanted some of the outfits lol. Honestly the actual plot of the show aged well too I think. Since it's about spies and made up futuristic tech and the fashion is timeless, if they ever made a (GOOD) reboot, they wouldn't have to change much about it to make it fit in today's world.
I think the only hairstyle that may or may not work today is Clover's usual hairstyle. As iconic as it is, it always looked a bit weird to me lol. Too pointy in my opinion. Alex's bob is cute. But I'm no hairstyle expert so what do I know?
Totally Spies was my favorite cartoon show to watch growing up. Badass teenage spies saving the world while going to school, having a dating life and wear beautiful clothes!
I rewatched them just recently! Wow, this was such a good surprise from you! Love from Serbia.
The style honestly reminds me of 1998 Charmed. They sort of did the same mish mash of 60s through to early 2000s style and it was one of my favourite things about the show!
I feel like this same logic goes for a lot of the Bratz! Like YasmĂn has SO many 70s inspired styles.
Thank you for bringing Totally Spies thr appreciation it deserves! I was obsessed with this show and might still be, it definitely influenced my style aspirations growing up.
Your outfit is giving me â13 going on 30â vibes with the hair. Love it
