- In this video, I embarked on the vanlife experience right in the heart of New York City, parking my DIY camper van along a bustling 6th avenue also known as Avenue of the Americas. Amidst the city's vibrant energy, I decided to cook up a batch of my favorite food, momo, using delicious street halal chicken and lamb. Despite the slightly dry outcome, the culinary experiment was a success in its own right.
However, as night fell, the reality of sleeping on the avenue of the Americas sets in. The constant noise and activity made it challenging to rest, and I managed only a few hours of uneasy sleep. Reflecting on the experience, I resolved that next time, a quieter side street would be a more suitable choice for a peaceful night's rest. A valuable lesson learned in the midst of the city that never sleeps.
The din of the city, the comforting sound of rain falling on the van, and the patient preparation of a beautiful evening repast. Now THAT's a video worth sitting back and enjoying. ♥♥♥

I like to watched every vanlife in yt and this is the first time I saw stealth vanlife in the city of new York. I mean yeah there's yt vanlife that ever do camp in new York but mostly they park their van in campervan outskirts of downtown, or in the famous van alley. But you did camp in the center 😂 with honking around.
Oh boy, let me tell you, it was a little noisy, but hey, I managed to squeeze in a few hours of shut-eye before all those delivery trucks started rumbling in bright and early!

I locked the van. I just left the camera running, and the white stuff is the famous white sauce that you get with the halal food in NYC.
Man, I am a vlogger dreaming of van/rv life. I must say I like how you're doing it. I have 2 dogs, and I can't leave them, so whatever I do will include them.
Also, I get back to NYC 3+ times a year, and I always get gyros from street vendors. I usually dont get platters but I like what you did, but what was the green stuff.
You made it look so good, I feel like I wanna make that some too.

I can't believe you slept there. I used to work 1 1/2 blocks south of there in the GE building. It is a busy street, heart of the city. Only thing worse would be Times Square. It's an entertaining stunt overnight for a vlog, though. Except for the fire truck sirens, it looks pretty peaceful at night. Kudos for rising to the challenge.

I wouldn’t be able to rest as I would constantly be concerned that another vehicle would smash into my van.
As a former cab driver, NYC is pretty safe compared to daytime, but I am concerned about those crazy ones.

In NY, there is one rule you must know if you are building a van and want to park on the street at night: you must install rear door windows and bunk windows in order to obtain passenger vehicle plates. If your van doesn't have any windows, you can only get a commercial plate, which means you can't park on the street at night. You only pay taxes when you purchase the van. Additionally, my van is fully off-grid capable. I hope this helps.
