All of the great bands from that great music era of the 70s are getting much older. We are so lucky to have Leonid and Friends to continue to carry the “torch” into the next generation. Hopefully, they all will be able to stay together. Yes, it does bring tears to your eyes!

They are a great band, no doubt about it. But, honestly, he doesn’t really sound that much like Phillip Bailey to me. I actually think he sounds more like Eddie Kendricks or a mix between the two. If I was listening to the music with no video, I would think that at least SOME the same musicians were involved and that a great falsetto singer was involved but not actually Phillip Bailey! Bailey is really in a class by himself.. And he sings whistle register when he sings this song live. Which takes it up to an absolutely unbelievable freakishly good level. Go type in to hood and listen to EWF song called “Mighty Mighty” and listen to Phillip Baileys soaring falsetto/whistle register toward the end, he’s a stone cold FREAK OF NATURE! Phillip Bailey is in a class all by himself.. trust me on that.
It's interesting you mentioned the bassist... who is Leonid, the founder/leader of this group, and also happens to be responsible for transcribing (recreating the musical parts) from the original arrangement, as well as being the sound mixer and mastering engineer! I don't believe I've ever heard a musician/recording engineer this capable of recreating a beloved recording so faithfully.
When he started the band, he first arranged many Chicago hits WITH NO ORIGINAL SCORES! He did it by EAR! He/they were so good that Chicago even put a link to them on their website and Chicago's drummer sat in with them during a live performance!
Even on the junk audio format that YT provides it sounds great. The "Does Anybody Know What Time it IS" audio capture is phenomenal, especially the horns.
I've never heard anything like what this incredible group of musicians puts out. I understand that they're some of the best pop musicians in Russia, but the phenomenal talent devoted to covers is amazing!
They may all be Russian now but they were not. Serge co founder is Ukrainian, and Sergey is Moldovan. They have both left and it's said for family etc. In truth I think the reasoning goes deeper and may just come from governments and they can not say that of course.

@@mazie7952 Serge Tiagnyriadno was their lead singer. He lived in Ukrain. Many of his recordings were done from there. The war made it impossible for him to continue.

Great reaction. Like so many other songs they've played to perfection, they sure nailed this one as well. These guys are so ultra talented it's ridiculous. The fact they do covers to actual "reaL' music from back in the day is so refreshing, Grew up listenong to EW&F, Chicago, etc. and having these iconic songs brought back to perfection in today's age is stunning. I agree 100% I found this amazing group as along time Chicago Fan L&F preformed at a our local venue I was blown away by thier performance. As a bonus they added EWF and Steely Dan to thier set list. I felt like I was in Heaven! As a former musician Drummer/Percussionist I attend many many venues. The best by far was Chicago/EWF tour.L&F brought me back to that day! I close my eyes and feel the music that hits my soul. Keep the music alive my friend! I enjoyed your comments and sharing the emotion!
Kay, it was both of those songs that were my introduction to L&R. I have had the privilege to see them 3 times. I'm missing them this year as they are touring the East coast right now, but they are truly the best!

Man! Tears actually came to me. I've never heard anything like this performance. I come from a musical family. I have studied music for years and I play multiple instruments. Trust me when I tell you, Leonid is a musical genius and these artists take a back seat to no one! They are true masters of their art.

I just saw them in concert this weekend at their sold-out show in Philadelphia, and wanted to tell you that guy sang like that ALL NIGHT! He hit those notes perfectly throughout the evening for the entire show. And that's just one guy. The entire band was completely on-point all the way. I highly recommend you go see them live if they're in your area!!!

i saw them live in NYC last year and i will see them again this summer. at 71 ywears of age, a boomer/hippie who got to see all of this music played live on tour by the original artists, one of the best shows ever, bar none. always in the pocket, always a joy, always healing. the best part is they have totally embraced the vibe of the days when it was written. ☮❤🙏
Check the Lady Xenia from L&F doing a song titled Leave me Now, formerly done by the group Black Russian who actually signed with Motown. They were defectors back in the seventies. I guarantee you will like it. It was done in the Studio also.

I'm 65 now so that gives you an idea I've seen them in concert 9 times. 7 times with the great Maurice White but I have to say this cover version of fantasy is amazing a tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire the vocalist just nailed it Philip Bailey should be proud great performance loved it thank you guys for the love of music that you bring

Greetings from Germany. great comments and I cried too. I've had the band on my radar for a long time, as we say here.. and what's even more extraordinary, all members are originally from Russia, Ukraine and Moldova. Music connects the whole world.
We saw L&F's last Friday in Orlando and they covered this live... Knocked it out of the park, like every other song they perform. What is also amazing is that none of the band members we talked to after the show at the meet and greet really do not speak the best English. If you ever get a chance, do not miss them.
I am amazed at this Group. I sent a message to my Good Friend Myron McKinley of Earth Wind & Fire. I told him your still my all time favorite Group, But these Guys are a close second. The orchestra really adds to their performance. But over all fantastic.

I discovered this group about a month ago and OMGGGGGGGGGGG! i couldn't believe anyone could cover EW&F, Chicago and others so perfectly!! Earth, Wind and Fire is my favorite group of all time and I also love Chicago. Saw them in a joint concert and I was in musical heaven. Leonid and Friends are AMAZING!!
I first heard Leonid & Friends a few yrs ago when I was introduced to them by one of my brothers. THEY ARE PHENOMENAL. I dont know how to dance, but if I did, I'd dance to them, playing Fantasy, with my lady.
Harri, you will have to see my brothers and sister perform this live. I think it is even better than the studio version. So far, I have seen them perform this song five times in concert in Florida. I have been friends with them since early 2019. They are my family. If given the opportunity, purchase the Meet & Greet. You won't find a more humble yet incredibly talented group of individuals on a single stage anywhere.
I think it’s cleaner and clearer because studio and recoding technology has come a long way since the mid 70’s.. I couldn’t even transcribe off of the original one by EWF found here on CZcams. It’s just too much noise and hiss on it. And the low end is befuddled with saturation.. They really need to remaster up to todays standards! And when they go from analog to digital sometimes the pitch gets altered normally it comes out too low. Because me and my band are performing this on on New Year’s Eve! But better vocals??? 🙄 Hell no!! 🤔😯 Philip Bailey is in a class by himself!! And this guy doesn’t even really sound like Phillip Bailey to me, more like Eddie Kendricks or a cross between the two! For vintage Bailey in his prime go listen to the mid section to the end of “Mighty Mighty”! And tell me if this guy really sounds like Phillip because Phillip is in a whole nother Universe bro!

Hi, I've been an Earth, Wind & Fire fan from the beginning. I'm 65 now so that gives you an idea I've seen them in concert 9 times. 7 times with the great Maurice White but I have to say this cover version of fantasy is amazing a tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire the vocalist just nailed it Philip Bailey should be proud great performance loved it thank you guys for the love of music that you bring

We saw L&F's last Friday in Orlando and they covered this live... Knocked it out of the park, like every other song they perform. What is also amazing is that none of the band members we talked to after the show at the meet and greet really do not speak the best English. If you ever get a chance, do not miss them.

I am amazed at this Group. I sent a message to my Good Friend Myron McKinley of Earth Wind & Fire. I told him your still my all time favorite Group, But these Guys are a close second. The orchestra really adds to their performance. But over all fantastic.

Just watched your reaction and I had the same reaction as you did!!!!! I discovered this group about a month ago and OMGGGGGGGGGGG! i couldn't believe anyone could cover EW&F, Chicago and others so perfectly!! Earth, Wind and Fire is my favorite group of all time and I also love Chicago. Saw them in a joint concert and I was in musical heaven. Leonid and Friends are AMAZING!!

Harri, you will have to see my brothers and sister perform this live. I think it is even better than the studio version. So far, I have seen them perform this song five times in concert in Florida. I have been friends with them since early 2019. They are my family. If given the opportunity, purchase the Meet & Greet. You won't find a more humble yet incredibly talented group of individuals on a single stage anywhere.
I think it’s cleaner and clearer because studio and recoding technology has come a long way since the mid 70’s.. I couldn’t even transcribe off of the original one by EWF found here on CZcams. It’s just too much noise and hiss on it. And the low end is befuddled with saturation.. They really need to remaster up to todays standards!
And when they go from analog to digital sometimes the pitch gets altered normally it comes out too low. Because me and my band are performing this on on New Year’s Eve!
