    I have one myself (ryzen cpu, 3060). There's methods to edit the device registry to lessen the power draw. There's a hidden setting that sets the battery settings to "ultra performance". Editing the registry (no third party software needed) and making that setting visible can let you turn it off and drastically improve thermals without sacrificing much performance. Look it up on youtube. Screen flickering seems to be a quality control issue imo, I've never experienced this issue. Neither does the trackpad for me. I think your unit is defective, see if you can use your warranty.

Especially if youput your hands next to the trackpad, I find it extermely irritating, don't know if I just got a bad unit or are they all like that

    Hi everyone,
    I’m currently deciding between two laptops and need some advice. I’m considering the ASUS G14 with the following specifications and a MacBook with the M3 chip and 8GB RAM. Here’s a bit more about my usage and requirements:
    ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 Specifications:
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
    RAM: 16GB DDR4
    Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD
    Display: 14-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) with 120Hz refresh rate
    Battery: 76Wh
    Operating System: Windows 10/11
    Weight: 3.64 lbs (1.65 kg)
    MacBook Specifications:
    CPU: Apple M3 chip
    RAM: 8GB
    Storage: 256GB SSD (or specify if considering a different configuration)
    Display: 13.3-inch Retina display (2560 x 1600)
    Battery: Up to 20 hours of usage (as per Apple’s claims)
    Operating System: macOS
    Weight: 2.8 lbs (1.29 kg)
    My Usage and Requirements:
    Primary Use:
    Programming (mainly in C++ and some other languages)
    Occasional gaming
    General productivity (web browsing, document editing, etc.)
    Portability: I’ll be carrying the laptop around often, so battery life and weight are important factors.
    Performance: I need a laptop that can handle intensive tasks smoothly.
    Software: I use both Windows and macOS software, but I can adapt to either if necessary.
    Budget: Both options fit within my budget, but I want to ensure I get the best value for my money.
    I’ve heard that the ASUS G14 has some issues with battery life and other glitches. On the other hand, the MacBook M3 is known for its stability and efficiency, but I’m concerned about its RAM capacity and compatibility with some of the software I use.
    For those who have experience with either or both of these devices, what would you recommend based on my needs? Are there any specific issues I should be aware of? Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

      @nho2x113 Před 14 hodinami

      It depends on your needs, The g14 has a lot to do and it depends on users, as I have mine for more than 2 years and it is still going strong
      The macbook is known for a high quality and a professional working space, so if you want that, get it. You can't game with it
      If you want to game and work etc.. then the g14 is a nice choice and being small size.

      If you’re willing to :
      1. buy extra keyboard so you can type on comfortable temperature
      2. Carry the brick charger every time you’re out
      3. Keep switching power modes to get few seconds or minutes of boost/ rendering time difference.
      4. Play most popular games on laptop
      5. Don’t mind airplane fans noise
      Then this pc is perfect for you!

    Thanks for the feedback. I actually bought one a few days ago and had the same experience as you with ridiculous thermals. Keyboard was also very creaky and loud. I got it for 830 for the Ryzen 9/4060 model but am going to return it. Performs great but is so loud it's actually unbearable. This doesn't seem like the right machine for me my MacBook has lasted me 8 years, I'm doubtful the g14 will make it even 1.

    • @AICvideo
      @AICvideo  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Depending on your graphics needs, I would consider a thinkpad P14s. With available dedicated GPU. Thin, light, cooler running, quieter, better keyboard. Even with the dedicated gpu, it’s not a gaming machine, but works great for productivity.
      I recently picked up a gen 2 for $350. Still has a year of warranty left.

  • @KiSs0fd3aTh
    @KiSs0fd3aTh Před 10 měsíci +5

    I get that you want it to work out of the box, but it would literally take you like 5-10 minutes to fix the whole issue. You can even set a temperature limit for the CPU so it draws as much power as it wants until it hits the temperature threshold you set.

    • @AICvideo
      @AICvideo  Před 10 měsíci +6

      I'm sorry, but saying it's 5-10 minutes is so stupid, and artificially thermal throttling it? no, it should be built in a way that it can handle the heat it generates especially when put into a low power mode.

    • @KiSs0fd3aTh
      @KiSs0fd3aTh Před 10 měsíci +5

      @@AICvideo In low power mode, as in "silent mode" it works just fine. If your model didn't then it's a faulty model and needs RMA. I thought you were talking about turbo mode.

    i have a flickering issues that it behave like a hardware problem,soo..sometimes the monitor will start flickering and suddenly blank.
    then i need to (sometimes) open close the monitor,some light knock on the back or a bit pinching on the side will do make it work.
    mostly i need to force turning it off with power button since i'll be in a dota match so i cant see anything to turned it off in a good way,then i will unplug the power and turned it on again.
    do you think that is because the heat too?

    • @AICvideo
      @AICvideo  Před 19 dny

      I cannot say for sure, but probably? the heat is pointed right at the base of the monitor, which is where the control board, cables, and stuff are. So it would make sense that if they got too hot it would cause screen issues.

    I have one myself, the gray version and i cant belive... This laptop is worth a lot forme, and when I say a lot, I mean sentimentally and as money. It was a gift from my friend that she took with a credit card (something unusual for our country)And I was ultra protective, I didn't even put a napkin on it, I didn't take it with me in my bag, I didn't use its keyboard so as not to wear it, I took off my bracelets when I used it even though they were wooden..And the reason why I came to your channel was the following: tonight I was using the keyboard (which is made of 100% plastic) because it always slipped in my laptop but it was so easy the laptop didn't move even a millimeter but I I noticed a mark on it, I accidentally poked it with my fingernail that it was dirty but no paint had been removed, and when I touched it with my fingernail I made everything worse.. The paint would come off it at the slightest touch..
