    Great video for a Zuma I inherited in 2014 in parts. Just started working on it in 2021. First thing I noticed was he had the vacuum line on the wrong port. The online Manuals leave a lot to be desired, Figuring what year it was a process of elimination. It has been a project so far. Reed valve will be added to the project "Todo" list. Good clarity in the way you produce this.

    Excellent video. I'm having same issue with a Yamaha BWS 50. Did a 2 stoke pressure test(passed) , carb was good, needle and seat was holding pressure, 130 psi compression, lowered the muffler in case it was partial plugged, removed air cleaner for the same reason, made sure the electric choke was working. It would start if I gave it a shot of carb cleaner. Afterwards it ran fine and would start fine. But leave it over night and the same thing, it wouldn't start. If I held my hand partial over the carb intake it may start due to restriction of air. I tested the reeds as you suggested and they were leaking as well. I hope this may help someone else trying to fix their scooter.
    Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks! I bought my brother’s 09 Zuma and been working on it…cleaned the fuels tank and carb, changes a couple gaskets, battery, etc.
    Didn’t think about these having reed valves… But it certainly makes sense. I spent a lot of time messing with those on my son’s KTM 125. If it doesn’t run, I’ll know what to look to next!

    Just changed the reed valve and the scooter started right up. The only difference in the procedure that I didn't do was to remove the carb and cables. The air box had to be remove in order to push aside the carb. Plenty of room. Thanks again for the great video.

      Update: Still having issues starting but starts better than before. I will change out the Fuel Cock Assembly and see if that helps. Will keep you posted.

    nice man. I'm bringing back an old one I got back recently after years. it's got over 22,000. Still fires first kick. Even in the dead of wenter. But once she gets hot you have to twist the throttle a bit but still first kick lol they're one of a kind for sure. Mines a 09.

    Awesome video! Thanks man! I got a Zuma 50cc and it was running perfectly fine until I got big water leak from a small cooler that I put under the seat and I couldn’t get it running anymore.. it won’t start.. when I press the start button I only heard a CLICK, CLICK, every time I press the start button.. I watched some videos and tried to make some test on the battery, then I changed the ignition coil and nothing still.. should I change the starter relay too? Or that “click” means that it’s working? Thank you!

    Great video. It will help me change out the reed valve. To bad you don't have to change your oil pump. My YW50 smokes like h*ll. I think the pump is stuck wide open.

      I actually did change my oil pump for the same issue of excessive smoking.
      This did not fix the smoking.

      @@TynkaTyme I actually changed the muffler because the person before me drill a hole into it so it can sound like a F1 car. The smoke starts as so as the engine starts. So I know it's not oil buildup. But I did buy the pump so maybe I'll get it replaced.

      I would say check the rollers on the variator, to make sure they don’t have flat spots, and clean the primary and secondary clutch sheathe. There’s a great article on this if you google it. What happens is the sheathe can’t retract all the way and it makes it so it’s like starting out in a higher gear.

      @DaveM2 Před 2 lety

      Use better oil. There's a blue quart size bottle that most of the parts stores carry. I think it is made by Lucas if I remember right. It's synthetic and it smokes very little once you put that in the dispenser.

      Norman Fabian pull the spark plug out of the engine. Plug it back in the boot, and let it touch something metal at the tip. Hit the start button and watch the tip of the spark plug to see if u can see it spark. It has to be touching something metal to ground though. Do that and let me know what you find

      @@TynkaTyme thanks buddy yes it has sparks...

    • @TynkaTyme
      @TynkaTyme  Před 4 lety +1

      Norman Fabian you need fuel air spark and compression for an engine to run. Check air filter for obstructions. Pull fuel line off and make sure it’s pumping to your carb, if u have spark and it still don’t start u must have low compression
