I love the F-104S right now. I've been flying Italy for 2 years now and the Old S is my most flown plane with 800 matches.
And now it's better than ever
I bought the F.104TAF and immediately regretted it, but after the "fix" of uptiers, it's pretty damn good and fun.

Jetnoob,i had an incredibly good experience with tech trees F104S,i had skipped and ignored gaijin adding countermeasures at the first days,but it's a gem now
in summary of both variants,and as you yourself said in the video,F104S is absurdly fast and nobody catches you for obvious reasons, a set of six AIM 9Js and vulcan, or four 4Js and sparrows,which are incredibly effective in this tier and also have the most favorable matchmaking with premium spam (and being the correct and best BR range to for it) ,nobody knows or have a idea of the capability of this F104 to have sparrows,they dont now what to do and being extremely deadly
and thanks to the countermeasures you are immune to almost any IR missile of that level, and A10/Su 25s being easy food for you,and most of planes are not difficult to deal with,just play like a rat
Since yesterday i'm playing with the F104S and in the same situation as you,i LOVE the plane now, and it's a great replacement for the ASA after the ASPIDE nerf,and the F16s spam
as the 104S is going to be moved to rank 7 in 2 or 3 weeks IIRC,it's going to be an AMAZING grinder for people who grind without premium or don't want to spend 70 euros on the 104S TAF pack,because the 104S has a much cheaper repair cost than the ASA(almost 20K) ,and is dozens of times more effective by itself

It all depends on your playstyle, there isn't like one plane in the entire game that just dominates every match just find whatever suits you and buy it.
I loved the F104S when it first came out. Have over 900 kills in it (was recently unemployed and just re-downloaded the game)

That's what I said... F-104 and the J35 are the best premiums for it's BR. Why? You don't get uptiers to 11.7. why that? The matchmaker has to create 12.0 games to fit more than 4 11.7 in it. So you get more or less an auto downtier. It was the same for the 10.3 before the patch dropped. The Mirage IIIe, F-5C and Mig-21 SMT/SM were stupid OP because they had a downtier rate of about 80%. Now it's time to shine for the few. 10.7.
Most 10.3 will get uptiered to 10.7 with the next BR change. This will have a huge impact for 9.7 / 9.3 for the same reason.

i wish the f104a had the higher cockpit (and higher bubbletop) and the stability fences of Aeritalia 104s, that makes them so soviet like instead of plain lawndarts like a lot of us interceptors.
Its quite interesting how 10.7 has more 9.7 matches than 10.3, when I was playing f5c I got uptiered to 11.3 about 70% of the time. It was a real pain going against mig23 mls and f14s

this is a premium, pribably the main reason why you didnt get much uptiers, and not a single full uptier
I play this plane a lot to grind the italian tech tree, and I found the most efficient use of it is to take 4 aim9P's, the maximum amount of bombs, and go straight at full speed toward a base at the start of the game and THEN play fighter.
It's a guaranteed 5k rp minimum per game even if you get killed after 3 minutes, and I routinely get 1 or 2 kills after (...and sometimes 3, 4 or even several 5 kills games).
It's the most efficient rank VII premium grinder imho.

25 Games Total here are the highest BR's in the game; 16 at 11.7, 5 at 11.3, 2 at 11.0 and 2 in a full downtier.

The thing about the premiums is the fact that their repair cost doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Even if it's hard to fly, I really like the f104G on the german tree, and thanks to that, I've researched most of the top tier (with talisman). BUT why on earth is the reapir cost 20K ? This forces people to play certain planes or buy premiums. I would mind to play a tech tree plane with 10K ~ 14K of repairs but man....

I'm looking at the airplane in test flight, and I'm not seeing the loadout you are talking about. I see AIM 9B x2, AIM 9B x4 plus the Vulcan and AIM 9Px2, AIM 9P x4 plus the Vulcan and AIM 7E with no gun. It should be noted that the AIM 9B stats are nothing like what they should be.

Day 49 of asking to play the yak4 at 2.0
Start by a dive directly at q base that has another base clise to it ( 2 bases beside each other) 4 bombs for each
Go straight to your base killing some ai on the way with your 7.62
Some planes will come on your back going in a straigh line with minimal evading is recommended and try to hit their engines with ur turret since they have weak engines a damaged one will lead them to crash i return to the airfield with 2 bases with 4 to 5 ai kills and 1 or 2 planes after taking off i go for bases if left but if not i will focus on ground targets cuz aa is the bain of this plane so bombing airfields is not recommended
Bonus:do not forget to have smoke always on to piss the enemies 🤣
werather this thing is worth 70€or not is debatable... one thing is for sure is that you buy a premium to make SL... load 2 napalm and a 2000 pounder to kill one base and then go for kills ears quite a nice reward ... i average about 50000SL per game

what you wanna do is climb in the starfighter and lob 9Ps down at people in uptiers and bring the sparrows in downtiers
then swoop down and come up from behind the enemy team and catch them off guard
or if you want to grind, bring bombs with you, excellent for grinding
the 104 is a very very good grinder take the 2 1000lbs and single 2000lb together with zunies or migthy mauses this way you can carrie 4 9Js and bomb a base at without droping speed at mach 1.07 and no one or nothing can stop you from doing it since there all to slow. once you have done that you have about 20k sl and 10k RP in your pocket but you still have 4 9Js left that you can easyly sling at 4-5kms at A10s who like to not see them
or if youre a lazy person go RTB get another base

I take the 2 750s 2 1000s and the 2000 and four aim9Js and reach the base before anyone else. To avoid the bomb speed limit just turn of your after burner and start climbing about 2km from a base then dive down to get your bomb reticle. 1.53 tons and about 8K sl and 2.5k rp s base on my non-premium one with the talisman
I've been using the 2 AIM-7s and 2 AIM-9s with 30 mins of fuel. It's been salted earth for downtiers, got an ace last game.
@@TheLastApplePie on full up tieres you have to watch for radar missiles and Aim9Ls a bit but you have flares so yeah the only aircraft that could technically steal the base from you are 4th gens with bombs i haven't raced them but there are some who go above Mach with bombs too

Ok not gonna lie, this is one of the best planes gaijin has for 70 bucks. In the 5 days ive had this plane I went from the BF109 G14 to the f104s asa with a positive KD. when you catch people lacking is the best.
UPDATE: this plane being 11.0 is no longer worth considering to purchase. It experiences nothing but uptiers now and fighting F16s Mig29s and literally everything else that can hunt you leaves this plane with no qualities to redeem its own value. So yeah, buyer beware I guess.

Never trusted these so called "matchmaker" favors. Gaijin can easily just turn the switch off next patch and then this thing will get constant uptiers again F-16/Mig-29.

do not use the sparrows
Why? If used within their engagement envelope the Sparrows are amazing. Even if the target chaffs, there's a very good chance it will still score a kill so long as you don't break lock to reacquire. Out of 276 kills in 158 battles with the TT F104S I'd guess that a good 40 to 50% are from Sparrow kills. Anymore, I generally don't bother with the cannon loadout except *maybe* at the endgame, depending on the enemies.
