I had a cat almost die from the rabies vaccination after she had already had a couple of rabies shots. Thankfully my vet saved her and said he would pretreat her before giving her the shot again. He said it was rare to happen.
I also had a cat going through chemo. Vet told me the rabies vaccine would kill him. He knew the cat would only live another two years at most. Sadly, the law does not work with this so I had to report him as dead to the city (you are supposed to license your cats) so that they didn't force me to kill him by vaccination.

Glad to hear your baby pulled through!
In the instance that you are unable to vaccinate your animal due to health conditions or severe reactions, routine bloodwork is done (specifically a rabies titer) to show the state and other clinics/boarding that the pet does not have an infectious disease. Your vet is supposed to document that your pet is not well enough to recieve vaccinations and report to the state.

I’m not sure we have rabies injections as rabies is practically unknown here in the U.K. They do have to have injections if going to the continent though. Why is it so expensive and cumbersome to do titer tests? The UK now has a new protocol wherein after the first set of vaccines, titer tests are done each year thereafter and boosters are given ONLY if the titer tests shows they need it . Wish more vets would err on the side of caution and prevention of potential side effects here in the US. The FeLV vaccine is now usually given in the tail because of the injection site sarcoma. Also request PureVax vaccines as they have fewer adjuvants, which can be the cause of the cancer. I give my cats one FVRCP and one PureVax rabies for LIFE, when they are old enough. All doing great. We need more access to reasonably priced titer tests instead of just jabbing them blindly. What are the percentages of effectiveness for each vaccine? If it's only 30%, for example, may not be worth the risk. I do know panleukopenia can be brought into a home from the outside so that is one I get ONE of--don't even think of getting another one, a booster, until at least four weeks later, per the guidelines. Some vets have told me that the shots only last two weeks and to come in then and I nearly lost a healthy cat because of that advice. Go holistic and build up the immune system with lines of products by holistic vets, like Vitality Science and Azmira for longterm more reliable health. -A longtime cat rescuer

I just lost one of my 10 month old boys to FeLV. He died of lymphoma. I rescued my boys at about 6 weeks. They and their Mama were strays. I didn't find out they had FeLV until one of the adoptee's contacted me that they had to put their kitten down at 8 months old. Please spay and neuter. If your cat goes out get them vaccinated for FeLV and rabies.

Wishing I saw this video yesterday. My cat got vaccinated , the rabies vaccine. We came back with a very sick cat, couldn't walk, she was very agitated, just rolled n growled in anger, i feel she was in pain. Today she was admitted. Her leg was stiff couldn't move normally. Sad sight.

I guess you could say I inherited a lot of rescue cats after my mom Passed from covid19 after she went into hospital i noticed they are call sneezing and coughing most are fixed and have rabies shots but not much else. I know tractor supply has vaccines and was thinking of that but worried they are all sick. So i am planning to take the sickest one in to a low cost clinic to get tested like tomorrow and see what they say she has... The night before my moms funeral i went there to start staying at her place to help my dad out and found one of the cats had passed. We spent like 80bucks for cremation... Anyway would it be safe to assume that sonce they all have same or similar symptoms that getting one cst tested will tell me and help me figure out whata wrong with thr whole lot?

Thank you for all that info. Now I learned about the vaccination injection sites and will ask my vet where he plans to do them on their bodies. I recently took in a 4-5 week old runt from a feral colony that I have been taking care of for the last 4 years. He looks sickly. I'm positive if I did not intervene that he would not make it living outside. His fur did not grow in fully like his siblings and his skin has ripples/wrinkles in it. I am hoping that its simply from dehydration and malnutrition. This is the first generation of kittens from this colony that has grown familiar with me enough that the mama lets me pick up and handle her kittens without any reaction. I have him isolated in a bedroom alone so that my other 2 cats wont pick on him and also because I do not know what diseases if any that he might have yet. My vet gave me a lime dip to use on him but I have not used it yet and am simply waiting to see if proper diet and hydration will change things.
