    Joy I really relate to a lot of what you are talking about. I also came to the states at a very young age and have lived here most of my life. I started going back home to Liberia on regular basis about 14 years ago after being in the states for 20 years straight. I love being home in Liberia but after living here for so long it is a bit of a culture shock in certain asking aspects. Thank you for touching on Kindness. I have seen somethings that I don’t like as well but as you said the best thing we can do is model kindness in how we treat EVERYBODY. We were blessed to be able to come to the states and have opportunities that others did not which does not make us better... just blessed. I crench when I hear people talking disrespectfully to people who work for them. When ever I see that I call them on it... which is not always popular but it helps me look at myself in the mirror and sleep well at night. Sorry for this long comment but you it a spot. 😀😀Anyways I just stumbled on your channel but I love it. Don’t know about the book club cus I don’t really read novels 😀 but I will watch everything you post. Keep up the good work. We building our house in Paynsville and almost done. Scheduled to be back home in late February. Can’t wait.

      Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time out to comment. Yes, kindness and respect is so needed in our interactions here in LIB. Lol and the culture shock is real. Congrats on the house too. I'm so proud of my fellow Liberians who decide to build in their home country. Please keep me posted on your travels. 😘

    We don’t believe in Halloween in Liberia. But do agree with you on the reckless driving in Liberia. Because I drove in & out of Monrovia, Hahahaha..oh my God! It’s so so much crazy & scary to drive in Liberia but did it by God’s grace. Where there’s no streets lights, the cross walk isn’t observed by both both drivers & the people, they do cross the streets at any points. The huge & long waited traffics around the city. No observance of traffic rules. However, with all these, I do really love my country (LIB) Liberia & I did really enjoyed having fun with my families, with both old & new friends. I went at beautiful beaches & restaurants for dinner & many more! Moreover, Liberian people are very friendly sit of people & they welcoming as well. Can’t wait come back for another vacation. LIB all the wayyyy mehn!!! DA our Liberia de yaaaa!!! One love LiB & God bless mama Liberia & it’s people in Jesus name! Thanks Sis. Joy for such wonderful video & God bless you!

      Halloween is not a wide spread celebration but there were small Halloween activities for kids in the city and and a Halloween event at a club that we found out after the fact via social media. Yes the driving is crazy! I too love the family time in LIB. Thanks for watching!

  • @faithhealingandself-care8972

    Thanks for sharing. There aren't many videos that show the good parts or lifestyles in Liberia. Thanks for sharing. I knew basic Liberian history but have a hard time understanding that with so many natural resources, many African Countries suffer problems with utilities and obtaining access to their resources, food, fuel, and the prices for food can be high in comparison to their economy. I would love to visit Liberia and other parts of Africa but the thought of living in one of those countries in light of the difficulties makes it unthinkable. How is the government run, how are things regulated, what job opportunities are there. There seems to be a need for government there to learn from or partner with countries or companion that are successful in providing electricity, etc. in order to make the improvements necessary to make things better there.

      Thank you for watching and commenting! Liberia has numerous complex needs and unique issues, none of which I profess to be an expert. These problems would have to be addressed by dedicated and selfless individuals who are actually on the ground, not on the outside looking in. I made this video in hopes of helping individuals who plan on visiting or moving to be aware of some of the cultural differences. As far as considering moving to Africa, that is a decision one would have to make based on their own individual standards. But moving shouldn't even be an option without multiple visits.

    I think you could learn a lot from CNAs and LPNs. The ones I work with are not my personal maids and they are independent with their work and can teach a registered nurse a thing or two....

    • @SheSpeaksToo
      @SheSpeaksToo  Před 3 lety +1

      The point of me mentioning CNAs and LPNs was to highlight that no one should be talked down to even if their job description is different then ours. Not once did mention or imply they were my personal maids. Being a nurse for as long as I have been, I'm wise enough to know I could learn a lot from all of my peers regardless of titles. The whole point was to be kind to everyone. Thanks for watching.

      So first of all, I live in "Texas". I can pay "taxes" but never live in taxes. And that is a play on words. I don't actually believe that the Liberian heat will melt me. That's unfortunate that that was your only take away from this video.
