The second Offal book is co-written by my motherinlaw Maggie Gin. Theres more in the series. My husband was young and remembers when his mother came out with the book she had a party dinner with a bunch of people including the publisher. All the dishes were innards recipes and he remembers her pulling out of the oven a casserole full of rocky mountain oysters.

When you do commit to a dedicated space as a library, make sure you research library catalog apps, to catalog all of the books as well as adding new books as they come in. It's pretty simple these days, as long as the book has an ISBN, the apps will auto-lookup the book and add to your catalog. If too old for ISBN, they all have a manual add system. This way you and all your guests will be able to search on topics, titles and authors, just like going to a library or using your municipal library's online catalog. You can keep a couple of dedicated old tablets in the library with the app loaded for guest usage. Of course a Lalande Library sticker to place inside each book would be classy too.

Always use steel plumbing pipes for closet rods!
I think she might need scaffolding poles 😆
And use a plastic cover for the pipe so it doesn’t leave metallic dust if your hangers are metal too ;)

I laughed at the irony of Stephanie clearing out, and Philip coming back with things from the brocante. Please send the 1€ table back to Emmaus. They were so popular in the UK in the 70s, just about every home had one, but, they tip over really easily so most quickly disappeared.

This is the first time I have ever wept watching an installment of Chateau Diaries! I am sorry to have to tell you, that I am not only a hoarder, I am an Evangelical Hoarder! If I had been there as a volunteer, you would have cast me out into the garden because I would have been weeping and shrieking: 'Keep this book! Keep that one! Keep the other one!' In recent years, I have had to face the fact that I cannot keep every book I have ever read and a couple of thousand (not telling fibs) have gone to the charity shop and the local fridge library! And I do not live in a chateau, having a minute fraction of the space at Lalande, so the sad deed had to be done and I relate to your pain, but I watched this video as if I was sitting through a performance of King Lear or The Duchess of Malfi. Unrestrained tragedy for me!

As an unenthusiastic cook myself I think I can explain the cookbooks. If they’re anything like me, they kept buying them in the hope of finding inspiration to cook! I can’t say that strategy has been working for me… 😆

There's great satisfaction in clearing out, donating, burning, finding things. Even when it isn't my own home, it's fun to watch. Meantime, Philip is a wonderful bargain hunter bringing a few things into the mix.

Looks to me a library room is needed for all the books you have. Every Chateau has a Library, but I do not remember seeing one at Chateau de Lalande. I will have to go back a watch video's again and see I find one.

That was a lot of fun. I’m a book lover and small-time (emphasis on small) collector - I needed to purge a few years ago when we had our little bungalow remodeled. It was kind of hard to do. Missing a few. But wow!!! Seeing a butterfly, I believe, means transformation and a lovely sign from somewhere and someone. Love those signs so much! ❤️

That´s the good thing about cleaning among old books. You find old photos. This has happened to me. Even photos you didn´t know you have. And you have the perfect team to help. Lucky people of LaLande!I Ikea furnitures don´t have the best quality haha. You do compensate the catastrophes with such good food! And being in France, champagne!
