When Davey pulled out his cell phone it dawned on me... we rarely, if ever, see LaLanders and their guests with their noses in their phones. How lovely!
Davey is so charming especially when he’s smiling
I find I love Kirsty more and more every time Steph tours the garden and she gives a rundown of what's going on. She's adorable and her laugh is contagious and she is incredibly knowledgeable and witty. She and Pavlina are an indomitable team and they make me want to quit my day job and become a full-time gardener.
I think the black iron looks MUCH better!
Mummy is going to be OVER THE MOON when she see's the improvements at LaLonde! One thought I have.... in the heat of summer you should put a covering on your kitchen patio ceiling! It would be gorgeous and help keep you all more comfortable...?? It could be either retractible OR permanent! I think it would be a huge asset.... Xx
I am a HUGE fan of Kirsty! She is so industrious and friendly!
Davey is so wonderful. Keep him around. I wish he lived there.
Happy birthday to Mummy! 🎂And a shoutout to Kirsty-- Well done! The vegetable garden is looking fantastic. Great job, garden team.💖💖💖
Can't wait to see Mummy and Percy. Hope they spend a long time with you at Lalande. The black railings look wonderful.
Adding one more vote for the black on the ironwork - much more elegant looking! Love all the progress, especially in the garden.
Absolutely ❤️
Maria's food always looks delicious. Can't wait till I'm well enough to visit the chateau, and explore the gardens and try the delicious food. Happy Birthday Isabelle. X
Daveys pondering face is the cutest 🤣🤩
The swallows are magical. Them singing for you is just fantasying. Love it. 🥰💞🥰
Magnolia petals make great tasty canape cups. Wisteria flowers have a nutty flavour and are super pretty on spring deserts. My mother could keep us kids busy for hours painting egg whites onto violets , violas and primroses and dipping into sugar for cupcake toppings. Maria brought back a lot of memories for me! Thank you!
That’s so interesting x
Gerry is the special hero of LaLande. So nice that Mummy of the Chateau is coming back and we viewers are excited about her expression when she will arrive in her new car and see the garden courtyard, the garden and later, the woods- That is going to be something unique!
I do hope all these reactions are filmed a the time. it will be wonderful.
And with two working eyes for the first time.
The wrought iron in black looks wonderful. I'd love to see it from outside.
Was watching a few of the Sunday at the Chateau videos earlier and was freshly reminded just how much work has been done and what remains. It is truly amazing what you and the Lalande family have accomplished. The gardens! Various rooms! Courtyard! And the food! Your ingenuity and hard work are making this centuries old building and grounds bloom in every sense of the word. Wishing all of you continued success and joy.
They are called grape tomatoes where I live in Maryland. The grape ones are oblong and the cherry are round.
👋 Hi from Rockville, outside DC.
Greetings from another Maryland resident. I have not had the pleasure of meeting another Lalande fan here yet! We should get together for coffee/tea. I am in Rockville.

Who knew dahlias were edible? Davey seems a veritable library of knowledge and information. I think I am about as excited at the prospect of seeing Isabelle and Percy as Stephanie is. It seems a very long time since they were at LaLande.
Kirsty is such a lovely person. Very down to earth and warm.
Kristy is a prize! Such a sweet smile and all kindness! No wonder the plants do so well! ❤
Just here to say it’s a joy seeing Kirsty in your videos! I just feel such beautiful, kind energy radiating off her. I swear she’s sunshine in human form 🤍🥲
I'm so excited mummy is coming back!! I cant wait to see her reaction to all the wonderful changes that have been made!! Please share her reactions with us! I hope her eyesight is still well!
The black looks much much better. I just love seeing all of the improvements and work being done. It’s incredible.
May I say, well I am, that the black painted railing is better I think, they say it's easier to blend to the background versus cream. I had a cream steel security rail put on a balcony of my ex residence, it looked good but I think black is best. 💖. The photo of you both melts my heart, it's such a beautiful photo !!!!!
YAY!! I’m so happy you are doing the balcony iron work in BLACK!!! My balcony ironwork on my home is black and it makes it soo rich looking. The compliments I get are unending!! 💜💜
OH I rather like the black wrought iron! It would be nice to see them all done from the outside. It's only paint, if you don't like them they can always be repainted. I think it will look very stately.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISABELLE! 🥳
I totally agree! It will make everything come together, the French blue shutters will look awesome.
@@kellyhawes9293 I thought Stephanie said in an earliler blog, with the architect I think, that the shutters were going as they were out of place to the period of the facade, at least, of the chateau
AAAHHH ...... IS GERALD LEAVING YOUR BEAUTIFUL CHÂTEAU SO SOON STEPHANIE ? ? ?
WE SHALL ALL MISS "SUNSHINE'S" LOVELY SENSE OF HUMOUR ~ STEPHANIE ! ! !
The garden is bountiful this year! Great to see Maria incorporating the produce and flowers into daily meals. Happy Birthday to sweet Isabelle who is a very lucky girl to receive such a lovely gift. Thanks Stephanie🙏🏻❤️
The garden sure is full of food. So glad your Mummy is coming back soon.
Love the black it look more finished off and elegant. Xxx so love seeing Gerry at the chateau. AndxI csnt wait to see Mummies face at all the changes. X
The black paint on the balcony wrought-iron looks great.
Those little birds were really chattering up a storm.
Isabelle is so fortunate to have you for her daughter, the car is perfect for such a lively lady. I'm anxious to have her and Percy back again.
The peacock napkin rings are so elegant and look great on the wedding band china and charger plates.
South Africa in in the southern hemisphere, so they're having winter right now which means they just had their shortest day a few weeks ago. Natie should know. I believe she's from the southern hemisphere too.
Loving the garden! When I have a ton of zucchini in the summer I grate them and freeze them in portions to use for zucchini bread in the winter time.
Yes that works wonderfully and with the new freezers Stephanie may have freezer space?
i also freeze the green peppers all chopped.
What does Scotman do for a living? The gardens are coming along nicely with Kristy now taking care of them. I am sure you are missing Dan helping out in the garden, but he has his hands full with remaking of his chateau. But it is always good to see him there at your Chateau from time to time.
When you have a lot of different flowers in bloom at the same time sometime, you should make a flower salad! It's an unforgettable experience to eat. Just look up which all flowers are edible, and put them together to make salads for everyone. I had one once, and I've never forgotten it.
We did a flower salad for a bride's party once. Shel loved it.
The peahens are adorable 🥰 The walled garden is so abundant! 🤩 The courtyard is spectacular! Happy Birthday to Isabelle 🍾 🥂 I can’t wait to see her reaction to all the progress that you’ve made since she was last there. ❤️🇨🇦
Hello Stéphanie, hello Jerry , Mr. Scotman ! It is so good to see you, and hope that ❤ you are doing well ?
Hello Kirsty ! You have done so much work ! And you are an expert.
Sarah Raven on her podcast said that dahlia petals are delicious scattered over salad. Btw I like the black railings x. Love Simone x
Hi Simone!
Black on the grilles is just right for the chateau. As Davey said, the continuity is there, very calming to the senses, over the sprawling area. Tying things together; unifying.
Love the globe? locket you have on, lapis?
Black wrought iron looks stunning.
It was so wonderful to see Davy and Mummy!! Happy Birthday Isabelle!! You are loved from around the world and we can't wait to see you again !
It's like Sith was taking her babies to the grocery store shopping for some goodies!
I thought something similar. now.. On your left you will find Blackberries. when the humans are not looking you can steel them but when they are around its best to feign disinterest.
@@mariahoulihan9483 lol!
Joyeux anniversaire chère Isabelle! So looking forward to seeing you and Percy back at the chateau, it's been so long. xxx
One of the things I find very very fascinating is how different the food you guys eat is from what I am used to. Even if I am not THAT far away from France and we basically use the same ingredients! Tip for using more courgettes: slice them in thin slices and fry them like you would do with potato chips. I don't think anyone would mind dipping courgette chips in various sauces during aperitif time. Eh?
I love peeling long slices of courgettes with the potato peeler and using on sandwiches and in salads. Makes sandwiches lovely and moist.
I think the black railing helps the eye move to the view beyond. The black is calmer.
Stephanie I've had a rough time caring for my mum who is 90 but when I saw Gerald a smile wrapped around my whole head. What a burst of joy at LaLande.
Happy Birthday Isabel! 💐
The black balcony railing shows up so nicely against the green lawn and trees. looks perfect.
Been paying attention to the heat and fires affecting Europe and hoping all the denizens of Lalande, including of course - the gardens, chickens, and peacocks, are staying safe and well.
Now we need a Michael Petherick reunion
The birdsong alarm was enchanting Stephanie, SO la Lande! Great to see Gerry and so sad he is leaving already but such good news that mummy and Percy will be back again next month. Happy Birthday wishes and blessings Isabelle.🎂💖 I absolutely loved the ‘bling’ of the table setting with those beautiful napkin holders and the close up views showed the beauty of the gold edging pattern on Davy’s parents’ plates. Another enjoyable video full of lovely people and happenings around the Chateau. ❤️🏰❤️
Oh a very happy birthday dearest Isabelle…….so looking forward to you being back in this magical place. God bless xx
What a wonderful video Stephanie! All topped off with the fabulous news of Mummy's birthday AND their imminent arrival!!! I can't even say in words how happy that makes me...Lord knows how you must feel! Philip your table settings are out of this world....this one with Davy's family set was so very pretty. Looking forward to next week!!! Love Sandi xx
I love the black railings hope you decide to do all of them that way,Dan is looking very handsome today always love seeing him
Such a joy to see Isabelle again! I know she can be cross sometimes, but when she smiles, she lights up the whole room and we all can't help but smile with her! The photo of you and Phillip is lovely, and will be a joyful thing to have at your desk.
Davey is just adorable. I would never let him leave.
Those little tomatoes are what my Mum used to call chats, they are really tasty.
A rose I would highly recommend is called Rhapsody in Blue, its a lilac colour which fades to a Wedgwood grey, fabulous x,
Happy belated birthday ‘Mammie’ xx great vlog Stephanie. Love your photo of you and Philip
Love the lavender flowers in full bloom, Stephanie!
There’s something whimsical about lavender flowers!
One day I want to come and spend a few days at the chateau as a costumer,
and get to know you lovely people! You know how to make
people smile, even when they are far!🌳🌲🌿
Like the black railings and looking forward to seeing all the improvements
Happiest of birthdays to our darling Mummy Isabelle! Can’t wait to see her on here again! Love the car! Good Job Stephanie!
I love ironwork, but never even noticed the chateau had ironwork. I think the black is much more beautiful and dramatic.
Happy birthday Isabelle!
Our weekly entertainment begins...❤👍
Love the black railing.
I just love how everything is unfolding beautifully at Lalande. It will be so exciting when your Mummy arrives. The only one left to return now is Maria, who we miss so much.
She has come back for a few, short visits, but she has her business to run in the UK.
Right when you announced that is was Isabelles birthday I was like CALL HER, CALL HER -- then you did, Love her!!
Gerald!!!!! Lovely to see you. I have missed you. ♥️
RECIPE TO DEAL WITH THE COURGETTES' PROBLEM (sorry for the caps lock)
In the kitchen you talked with Maria about the tons of courgettes your vegetable garden is producing.
I have a vegetable garden too and every end of June there's an invasion of courgettes: so, after frying, boiling, using them fresh in the salad or in the pasta, my mother found this recipe so you can enjoy the courgettes throughout the year and not be overwhelmed during June and July to the point of desperation.
This version could be used as an appetizer or a side dish.
It's really easy to do.
* - * - *
“ZUCCHINE IN AGRODOLCE” (Sweet and sour courgettes)
Ingredients:
1 kg of courgettes (the smaller/thinner the better)
2 white onions
1 spoon of white sugar
1 spoon of table salt
400 ml of white vinegar
400 ml of corn seed oil or sunflower seed oil (not olive oil)
Procedure:
You cut the courgettes into small round slices around ½ cm (1/8 of an inch) and the onions into slices until they're about 2-3 cms long (1 inch long).
Then you put all the ingredients into a pot and you bring them to boiling for around 5 minutes. There's no need for water, white vinegar and oil are enough.
Still hot, you put everything into glass jars, and, once closed, you could boil them for 5 minutes for extra security.
Good day everyone, hope your having a wonderful weekend
Lovely how u all gather around the table at the end of the day and celebrate another accomplished day at Laland. You have created a great community at the chateau. Happy Birthday to your mom! 🌸
I agree with the black railing ☺️ looks so strikingly beautiful against the landscape
Omg very talkative birdie, love it! 🥰
Gerry is such a sweet, humble and humorous man! Makes my heart happy to see him in the vlogs. Also Stephanie's mother is such a joy to watch :) can't wait to see her back!
Love the black on the railing. Very elegant looking 😍
I love the black railings against a light wall. It feels very New Orleans , I like it painted cream as well but it needs a strong wall color to be seen!
Black and various shades of green make me think of New Orleans. I have never been, but that’s what we have in New Orleans Square at Disneyland on all the ironwork… teal, sage, deep forest greens…
I've seen greenish black too, love the black...I have plans to add iron to my circa 1925 2 story stone building
Verdigis is a great colour for railings as black will peel faster in the heat as it attracts the sun more. Old French blue is also wonderful!
Verdigris! THERE’s a novel idea. But how will it look when the exterior is re-plastered?
@@lolodee3528 Pretty fab! Very French and old looking! Bronze paint for the windows are full of ground brass and would protect the windows similar to Chatsworth but not as costly!
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦
Just love the countdown flowers!!!
Another lovely Vlog. ❤️ I hope you are using the Courgette flowers when very fresh? They are wonderful dipped whole into beaten egg, then flour and gently fried in a combination of butter and olive oil. An Italian friend introduced me to doing this many years ago. They taste wonderful!
So cute what a delightful way to wake
I love when you sing Stephanie ❤️ Happy birthday Mummy 🎂
I like the black railing, it brings royalty to the masonry work. I would also like to suggest a you tube channel when decorating the up coming bed room suites. Her taste of design is so authentic. "Kacha" I know you will enjoy watching.
I’m a fan too of Kacha! Great ideas for some Emmaus finds perhaps!
Davey you are right, black ties the outside to the chateau! Looks very elegant...
God Bless Mummy! Happy Birthday , dear Lady!
They're Cherry Tomatoes and delicious whole in a salad !
The Black iron looks so much better 🖤 it’s beautifull 🖤😉
I love the table setting, Phillip is so good with decoration and colour schemes. The car is fabulous! The singing of Happy Birthday was so special❣️
Thank you ! My gratitude is genuine and renewed with each new video.
What a joy Davey was today ❤️
Another great vlog, thank you!!! 🌸
Black looks more elegant, striking and eye catching.
I wish I could have seen the black iron railing from outside to see how it looked.
Happy birthday Isabelle! So excited to see you and Percy back at the chateau
The walk through the garden was just what I needed , thanks!
Happy birthday Mrs. Isabelle! So excited to see your return!
Hurray- mummy and Percy are coming back!! She’s going to love that car. I think you need your own set of wheels Stephanie! The big red van will be handy but not glamourous enough.
She has a small silver Ford sedan.
@@TheBTG88 oh, I did not realize. Thank you for telling me.
So many wonderful things in this video! The black ironwork does look more distinctive than ivory; verdigris would also look nice. I've never tried eating Dahlias--I love Rose petals, Jasmine and Nasturtium. I think Lilacs and Violets are also edible. Phillip's table looked beautiful. Scotman's leaving again? He's only just gotten there! I'm so happy Isabelle and Percy are returning. The car is gorgeous! Loving the little Peachicks. Kirstie is doing wonders in the garden. Daniel Preston, Top Gun Digger Man! Thank you for putting a smile on my face!
🙏🏻🌷⚜️💗⚜️🌷🙏🏻
Thank you Stephanie. A Lovely Day at Lalande. Lovely To See Isabelle. Keep Cool. Xx 😊😘
Oh my gosh, I just love you all so much. Thanks for a wonderful video. ❤️
