Without your video, I would have never changed the oil in my front differential. Turns out there wasnât even oil in the differential at all. You my friend just saved me over $800 in repairs!!!!!!!
Nice!! I need to do my GMC envoy next!!
Hi Nathan. I'd just like to take a moment to thank you for all of the Chevy Trailblazer videos you have made. I just picked up an '06 Trailblazer needing some work and your videos have been of great help in getting me on the right track. I know how much effort it takes to shoot and edit these videos in addition to doing the workon the vehicle. So thanks again for what you have done. I, and I'm sure a lot of folks who don't leave comments, certainly appreciate it.
Nice! TB's are great and are still going today!
I sure am glad I saw this video when I did. I just crawled under my 06 Envoy to do this job and when I drained the old diff oil only about 4 or 5 ounces came out! Both drain and fill plug were loose too. Thank you sir!
O wow!!
Very true this front diff is notorious for leaking not just from the seals. You have to check the fluid at least once a month in the winter. I replaced my seals and it still has a slow leak.
Truth!
Thank you from NY. 2003 Trailblazer 183,000 miles. Replaced a lot on this so by the time I'm done it should be like the Johnny Cash song. Pick a Part guys now know me by sight! Lol!
Thanks for the video! I just changed mine and it didn't even have a 1/4 of a quart in it. You're a life saver!!
Great!!
Figured out why it was out of oil. The seal is leaking and slinging it out at highway speeds.
@@jbpooh sorry to bother you but which seal? what did you do to fix it or do you just keep adding oil or was it the fill plug
I can't believe last time I did this I removed my wheel to get a long funnel in to fill the diff. Thanks a million!! :D
Nice!!!
Just got a 2008, just did the oil change no problem. Iâm gonna give this a go. Itâs a nice suv.
Nice!
Thanks for putting the great video together. I like the idea of the funnel and tube - will make this job a LOT easier to re-fill the Front Diff. Thanks again!
HEY! ;D
Best video I've seen on this particular part so far. Just finished mine now, thanks!
Im scared to do it . but I have to do it cuz my truck needs it really bad. Thanks for the tips
I like the garden hose over the wheel with the funnel trick! Good video.
;D
I like the way you hooked your funnel with a Bungee Cord that was a great idea that I will be useing for now on
Nice!
Very helpful ! I like that your videos are edited well in a way that shows the pertinent info . To the point without the extra bs of other videos. Thumbs up for sure. And, Thank You !
I just bought a 2006 Saab 9-7X and I'm going thru it to make sure it lasts a long time. Thanks for the instructions and saving some serious money. Thanks from Connecticut
Great job! Clear and concise. Easy to follow and understand your instructions. Thanks. Glad I found this video. Times are tough and she's not pretty but runs good for her age. Gonna give a try when I change my oil today. Thanks again.
Excellent idea with the 5/8 hose!đ
Nice~~
Tuned In From Central ILLINOIS!
Heck ya!!
Thanks I appreciate your help and I have a Saab 97x itâs in the GM family
Nice!!
Thanks for the tips change mine this weekend and didn't even think about the front diff thanks
Right!
That hose and funnel truck is Briliant!!!
THANKS FOR THE OIL TIP IM WATCHING FROM HOUSTON TX
Hell Yea!!
Thanks from Kentucky
Nice!
Thanks for the great video. You were absolutely right about differentials always being neglected. I bought mine a few months ago and normally change all fluids but hadn't gotten to the differentials yet. I pulled that drain plug last night and about died.... I was dry. I got just under 1/2 a pint!
Nice!
Thank you for this video. I was unaware or ignorant of this need and possible problem. Best to you from Tennessee.đ
You're welcome!
Salute from Boston!
NICE!~ Enjoy the cold! ;(
Always enjoy your tips and tricks. Watching your videos in Florida.
Thanks!
Watching from Philadelphia. Your video has been great and help me save money thank you once again
Nice!
I did my front and rear and new seals, it looked pretty OK! 2004 GMC, glad it's done but Amsoil wasn't cheap + oem metal seal. It was nothing like that ^
Nice!!
Reminds me of the time I drained the oil for a change and there was maybe a quart in the ENGINE!!! Yep, that's right.. it's at 173,000 miles now and still going great.. gonna do the differential soon...
Nice!!
Great video! Watching from FL
Watching from North Pole, Alaska. Great tips.
Cool!!
I have an 01 blazer and did this 3 years ago. Had about the same! Mine was greenish yellow. I check mine every out change now! I have had the blazer now for 15 years.
Nice!!!
Howâs it going now?
@@enricopallazzo3244 iâm squished the pos in the scrap yard got a nissan f chevy and there junk!!!

Good video on that Trailblazer!
Thanks for the video from Vancouver, WA. I have a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada and will take your tips and save me some money on my differential fluid change.
Thank you, from North Dakota.
;D
Just finished mine up with the help of your video. Thank you. That was some nasty smelly stuff!
Nice!
Thanks from Brazil, we have a similar here that is called Chevrolet Trailblazer wich mine is a 2018.
You're the man!
"Happy Thanksgiving" from the Great pacific Northwest, Oregon, God bless.
"Happy Thanksgiving"
Like a boss! Love the clear tube idea, I'll be stealing this method. Man I hate manually pumping 90W lol!
Nice!!!
@@FixingWithPassion hey what size gaskets can I use because they've pretty much worn away. For both drain and fill cover.
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Great Job Young Man!!!! My favorites are Trailblazer and Xterra's!!! Again, GREAT JOB!!!
Good video, from Michigan and going to do right away on my Rainier...Thanks
Heck yea!!~~
When changing my oil I remove 3 of the 4 bolts holding the skid plate, loosen the 4th bolt about half way and swing the plate out of the way. 3:30
Sweet deal I sure do really need to have this done on my 02 Chevy trailblazer LT too and besides for mine I have to have the whole differential replaced because of the bearings do go out too by the Shafts it was easy on the passenger side but the driver side is a whole different story to get done
Thank you for your video.
I just drained front fluid on my Saab 9-7x (GMT-360) and as suspected fluid was low. Believe my axle seals are losing fluid so cleaned area at the same time.
Biggest laugh is I could not owners manual in video at 2:33 that list 2.6 pints at 0.8 liters....Grrrr on idiot that did basic conversion as it should be 1.2 liters of fluid.
Thank you again for your post and reminding me to service front diff.
Best regards,
Mr. P
Boss!!
Doing this today. Thanks for the tips!
Nice!
Southfield Michigan thanks for your videos
Good tutorial, hello from Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan đ
Nice!!
Changed mine today. When I drained it the fluid didn't even coat the bottom of the drain pan. I was amazed at how little came out. Transfer case and rear diff were full.
Wow! Crazy. Checking mine again...lol
My next saturday project, Thanks!!
holy cow I didnt know it has oil Im ging to check mine
NIce!
As always awesome videos!!!! Im going to check the differential on my explorer today
Explorers are not to bad. It seem like trailblazers have more issues. Mainly if one does go bad...its a job getting it out in the Trailbalzer to swap a diff! But good Idea to check the explorer.
Awesome tip dont know if I can do that or not I use the pump. Hey all also check your rear diff oil and your transfer case!
Nice!!
Cheers from Seattle Wa.
Cooool!
Beautifully!! U are helping me like u have no idea. I got one of those chevy blazer and what you did am going to do it. I got this vehicle for my daughter so she can go to college
I would imagine this is the same for the GMC Envoy. Good tip I will change the front diff oil. I was just going to do the rear because the gasket has a some sweating so I may aswell do the front. Northern Ontario Canada. I just retired my 96 Jimmy transition died.
Nice!!
Good educational vidio Midwest nebraska

Thank you looks easy. Saves a lot of headache down the road.
Greetings from "Virginia". Happy Turkey Day, Nathan.
"Happy Thanksgiving
I've enjoyed are conversations via CZcams my friend in recent past here on Nathans channel. " Happy Thanksgiving" to you!
Dave Deatherage My best to you Dave.
That was a pretty cool way of doing it definitely deserves a thumbs up đ
I just want to comment about your statement about changing the front differential by removing the fan clutch an shroud and AC compressor and alternator. Removing the radiator was optional just protect it from damage. Also the AC compressor just needs the line mounting brackets disconnected so you don't have to evacuate the freon. I had tried getting 4 or more shops attempt the job but then turn it down because the shop manual has you pull the engine. The CZcams videos that have you disconnecting the motor mounts to jack the motor up is almost impossible. In every case you have to pull both front CV axles and remove the actuator mounted on the passenger side of the oil pan before pulling the differential. After that with the fan clutch etc removed I just laid the differential on the cross frame and then lifted it out from the front of the car. Replacement went so easy that I forgot to preinsert the rear mounting bolt in the differential an i had to remove it again to put it in place. As for a periodic check of the fluid level you only need to remove the fill plug and insert your finger in the hole to check the level. Here's one more tip for easy topping up, get a tight fitting tube and a small clamp to hold it in place. Cut the tip off the top of the bottle and place the tube on securely and clamp it. You only Ned a couple feet of tubing. Stick the open end of the tubing in the deferential and squeeze the bottle slowly watching the guild until a little drains out from the fill port. Check this every time you change the oil because access is easiest then and you already have everything ready to clean up a spill.
Thanks for sharing your tips on making this service as painless as possible. I particularly like the tip for using a hose and funnel.
Word!~
Thanks for the Tips! ROCKWOOD Tennessee!

good job myfriend, thank you.
Great video, I just picked up an 05 trailblazer that I am currently working on. I appreciate the tips and tricks keep them coming. New Sub here!
Great! Mines is still booking right along! Rides like a caddy!
Thanks me brother love your style ,
thanks
Thanks for the video!
Word!~
I just got a 2005 trailblazer. Had all fluids changed except just added antifreeze. I was told the front differential was bone dry so it was good I had it done. An hour later the front end had a huge puddle from a leak and almost all the fluid was leaked out. I assume it's the front differential but I saw antifreeze in the leak im pretty sure. So I went straight home instead of going back to wingman oil change.
Nice!!!
@@FixingWithPassion but im asking. What do you think it is? Do I need to ask the shop?
Thanks body from Cali Colombia.
Great~!

Great video, thank you, take care.

Hey!
Can the drain and fill both be done on the front diff and transfer case with It on ramps? Or does it need to be level ground when doing the fill? great videos Btw
Level ok.
Kerosene pump works good too
Great!!
Dover, Mi
Nice!!
Subbed and thumbs up! From Cabot, AR.
Sweet!
Ps thanks for the info! Awesome!
On ramps, the final full amount will not be correct. You must have vehicle level.
Na. It was pretty much empty. 1.5 Qts before it started to drip out of the filler hole.
Hmmm .. There is a Imperial-SAE/Metric conversion error at t=2:19, 2.6 Pints = 1.23 Liters (not 0.8L)
Therefore - you should put 1.3 Quarts in the Front Differential (2.6 pints is more than 1 quart, which is typically how 75w90 is sold / 32 oz./0.946 liter) here in the gold ole USofA that never wants to convert to metric.......)
Extra is good if you have a small leak. Kind like having a x amount of bank overdraft for safety.
@@FixingWithPassion So if you get an oil change - they are not filling the front differential oil at all? I thought it was all one system in the Trailblazer. thanks
Nice video. I can tell you though - there are no SAE (i.e. inch) bolts on the entire vehicle . 1/2" = 13 mm.
Ha Ha...You've never seen some of the stuff i've worked on...lol Some people will add anything.
Tip of the hat from Montana.
Do you have a video(s) doing the rear end as well? Also; any other tips for Trail Blazers. Mineâs an â02 as well and misc problems popping up galore. Power steering has been stiff at low RPMâs for a bit.
Nice!
My power steerings stiff at low rpms too, also an 02. Replaced all the ps lines cause they were viciously corroded. I'm trying to diagnose, will be changing a couple things this weekend so if I figure out why the ps has been stiff I'll let you know.
Is your 4wd service light on? Mine is and I haven't figured out yet if that's related to the ps issue at all or not
The thumbs down any of your videos are from angry mechanics.
Ha ha...Truth!
You also want to do this on a level surface. If not youâll get an incorrect reading.
Did later and all good now.
you got a thumbs up
Great đ lazy trick.
Still going today.
Fort Lauderdale Fl
Hell yea! Use to live in Hollywood Fl.
Great video full of great ideas I need to change mine that worries me could you cover the leak in depth does anyone make a stop leak for the diff?
P.S. Very helpful tips!
