  • I finally decided to buy a leaf blower/vacuum machine for the garden. I spent a few days reading reviews and visiting local suppliers and came to the conclusion that the Husqvarna 125 BVx was the right machine in my price range.
    I discovered the cheapest UK supplier was Radmore and Tucker and ordered from them online - they will get a nice surprise when they see the credits in this video.

    I realize this is an older video but for those considering a leaf vacuum kit- it's designed so that you blow all the leaves or grass into a pile, then use the vacuum feature to pick up whatever it is- kind of like when you are putting your leaves in lawn bags after raking them into piles. It's not meant to be used as a standard vacume cleaner where you are picking up debri as you move around.

    As an owner of this leaf blower, I'm glad that I came across this video . This is an excellent demo video of how to attach the leaf blower vacuum tubing that I have seen so far on youtube. Thank you Sir, thank you New Brit Workshop. The only part in the demo that was missing, how to easily remove the vacuum tubing bag. I've had this Husqvarna for a few years now, I only used the vacuum once and I completely forgot as to how to . The instructions booklet that came with this leaf blower misses this detail. I have come across owners of this machine were asking the question of the removal of the vacuum bag tubing. I'm an RAF cold war veteran and way into my 70s and I find it quite hard to remove this bag. Thank you again Sir for your excellent class room way of explaining this machine's parts attachments

      @@NewBritWorkshop Hello Peter, I just finished using the Vac bag, but trying to unlock the tubing is a struggle. I think the plastic tends to expand . I will let it cool off and try your suggestion.. No Peter I was not a pilot, I was in telecommunications and finished my trades training at RAF Compton Bassett in Wiltshire. But I always loved airplanes . I do have the Pilots Wings for Model airplanes. I've built many airplanes models though, I built the Hawker Sea Fury 1/7th scale, has a 60 inch wing span, full flaps and retracting landing gear, three blade prop. My favourite A/C that I built and sold last year is the F4U Corsair also a 60 inch wingspan , retracts, flaps. It was a joy to fly . I joined the RAF as a regular during the cold war in 1957. Two amazing A/Cs that you mentioned. We were most of the time underground. Were you airframe mech. or engine mech ? Most of my postings were in Malta that little Island in the Middle of the Mediterranean.

    • @NewBritWorkshop
      @NewBritWorkshop  Před 3 lety

      Hi Charles, The tube that actually goes into the canvas bag is meant to stay there ! You then just connect it to the machine body - perhaps that is where it is going wrong. I was just a passenger in many of these aircraft. The VC10s were fine but tactical landing and take-off in a Herc can be very challenging as can jumping out of a Puma which has yet to land and the worst was doing a spiral powered dive in an aging Wessex ! Cheers. Peter

      @VellaCharles Před 3 lety

      @@NewBritWorkshop Hi Peter. My question is, How do I remove the large tubing from the side of the machine ? Apparently a number of owners of this unit experienced the same difficulty of removing the large tubing from the side of the machine. There's a raised padlock of an Lock and unlock positions . It is supposed to unlock once you match the padlock to the unlock position when twisted to that position. The problem is that the large tube won't turn to the unlock position, the tabs apparently have a flaw. I even removed the side of the machine, there's no way the large tube will release . There's no screw that you mentioned at the bottom. I'd like to use the vac feature on this unit more , but it is too much of hussle .

    • @NewBritWorkshop
      @NewBritWorkshop  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Charles, Lay the machine on its side so that the tube is sticking upwards. Place your feet on either side of the machine body in order to stop it from turning. Then take a firm grip, with both hands, of the large grey tube and turn it anti clockwise. The reason that it is difficult to remove is the overall diameter of the tubing which means that there is a larger area of contact between the tube and the machine - friction is the cause but that is what keeps it in place when the machine is running at full speed. Good luck. Peter

    Hi Peter, thanks for a very thoroughly rewiev of this "Boy-toy". I have for some years had one of these, mine is a "Jonsered", another Swedish brand, but never the less, they are all done in the US now a days. I was, as you in the beginning very enthusiastic about my new toy, but honestly I must say, that it has rested in the barn for the last years.
    I find that the tranquility with a totally noiseless rake or sprake, a good wheelbarrow, beat this very noisy mashine after a while.You get good exercise for back and arms, and get time to reflect over lifes mysteries. Your nabours will love You more than they will hate You when You drive this "machine "
    If You must have a leave blower , go for one of the models where You carry the motor on Your back, I know they are a little more costly, but Your back will thank You many times for it. I don't wan't to be a "kill Joy!", just warn people before they rush into a an investment, that maybe don't pay off.
    Now out there and play with Your new toy
