- Arriving officers found Nicholas Scurria, 32, in the process of beheading the woman, according to police.
"I've been an officer for 32 years, this is absolutely horrible," said Clifton Heights Police Chief Timothy Rockenbach. "I don't even know what words I could describe to you how actually incredibly insane this is, especially in my town."

As morbid of a thought this is, it’s very rare to hear about an instance where a murderer was caught in the act of hiding his victim’s body. May she Rest In Peace.
The neighbor was very observant and did the right thing. Despite it being too late in this case, the fact he was caught before he was able to run gives me hope that crimes in progression like this will soon be minimized and prevented all together.

Also, he has no chance of an insanity defense with him admitting that he intended to hide the crime and was seen with rolled up plastic nearby. Killers these days always want to claim insanity.

I've seen a few people die in front of me, including my own wife, but seeing someone getting hacked apart is beyond stomaching and the officers will surely need therapy. Some things are just too gruesome. The offender doesn't deserve to live, not even in jail. Hoping the family never sees the body, it's too much.

If the intention was to withhold her identity, pending family notification, why jump the gun? Since their loved one has been killed, who cares if the public is demanding more information? They won't be the ones torn apart and heart broken. Respect and empathy for the bereaved should trump that.

I can’t imagine what the officers are going through right now. PTSD and trauma needs more than therapy. Support them, they’ve seen things we’d never ever see. My daughter is a first responder. She is in therapy and trying to process this pandemic and more. They are the first ones on horrific scenes. Sometimes they are there and get to do the beautiful job of welcoming a baby or saving a child. But this? Oh my goodness..🤭💔 😔

I can’t believe they released the name of the ex-boyfriend to the media before notifying the young woman’s family. If the woman’s immediate family didn’t see the man’s picture and name on the news, I’m 100% sure a relative or friend saw it. Shockingly irresponsible of law enforcement to release the information prematurely, and shame on the news for reporting knowing the family had not been notified.

Just because someone was in a worse situation, that doesn't take away from the fact that this poor woman's family should've been notified before they released the name and picture of her ex boyfriend. When I commented on the story I only wanted to point out the fact that information regarding the death of an individual should not be released to the public before family is informed.
