    Get the awning walls! I have have an OVS 270LT on our home built trailer. We just spent the week of Thanksgiving in Moab UT with average morning temps in the low 20’s. With the walls zipped into the awning and a small propane heater inside, it added tons of living space at a comfortable temp. Awning walls highly recommend!!

      @Adv4x4  Před rokem +2

      I used to have a set of walls for another brand 270 awning and I didn’t find myself using them much! But that does sound like a really nice setup!

    Love this series. Maybe some rigid scene lights since your wiring is super easy to access?

    You could add some Led strip lights under the awning

    Enjoyed watching your build! I thought I would add my opinion on the shower location...the current spot is great but placing it at the back would get my vote. Not because of the awning though. I would put it there because of the hitch location. You added it not knowing if you would use it but you could build a removable/foldable bench or when no bathrooms are available a removable toilet seat. Another suggestion for future project is to mount a solar panel under the roof rack to give a little boost to your power station. Keep up the good work!

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  Před rokem

      Awesome point about the hitch Paul!
      Currently my power station has plenty of juice to last a weekend! For extended trips it would be beneficial but unfortunately as of right now I don’t have time to take many extended trips haha.

    Now's you gotta do this. Build your PVC black water pie. Shower on top or the little Licker pump to pressurize.

    The super bright mechanic's lights (Icon) have magnetic bases, are USB rechargeable, and work so well. The only exterior lights I would do are some amber flood lights high mounted on the back, to use when backing into a dark campsite, or to use as chase lights if you have someone following you in a dusty area. But you're going to want to wire those into an aux swith in the truck anyway.

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  Před 6 měsíci

      Awesome thanks for the suggestions I wish everything wasn’t aluminum because magnetic base would be ideal!!

    could you add a receptacle on the outside to use the dimmer switch with and then just hang some lights on the awning? kind of a pain to have to bring them out everytime you set it up, but from a lighting perspective, having some on the end of the awning would be great.

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  Před rokem

      Yes some lights on the awning definitely seems like a great idea!

    Love what you made and your updates….for your shower, you can keep it where it is. If you are wanting it covered, just go to Jo-Ann Fabrics and purchase some water proof material that’s is used for tents. Then use that to cover the shower and being fabric it can folded up the the shower when stored away…

    Hi, just found this camper build and think you did a great job. Thanks for documenting the build. Thinking to build something similar and I’m really interested in the motorbike carrier - would you mind making a video with how you went about it please. Especially regarding weight distribution with and without the bike?

    Suggest ranger bands for strap ends. Much better than zipties that can rub holes in the fabric.

  • @71peppy71
    @71peppy71 Před rokem

    Add amber led flex strips on the under side of the awning arms that’s what I did great for cooking when it’s dark and the dim them down for ambient lights

    I'm a fan of under the tarp, but I'm also paranoid that someone with a rooftop tent would be parked next to me. Practically though, where you have it makes sense so any water run off isn't in a potential sitting area.

    In reference to your outside dimmer switch. Put in a plug in outside on wall then hang Christmas lights on the awning. You can use the dimmer to create mood lighting. The lights can easily be unplugged an put away when not needed.

  • @luc1ferblack

    Im going to build a similar shape for a motorbike camper. But i want to include a pipe inside with a small fan ontop and a bug mesh on the bottom that can be lowered or raised as the cold air is usually close to the ground. using your roof to pull air through the windows might not be doing very much when the air outside is warm. they also do a 3d mesh that you can put under your bed to allow airflow to prevent mould

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  Před rokem

      The roof fan on conjunction with the insulation it keeps the heat down surprisingly well! Also yes, I do need to get an anti condensation mat!

    Good video presentation of the additional camper mods. I would venture the suggestion of string/ strip LED's on the frame bars of the awning. An external power point might also be useful. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    have you towed the trailer with a dirt bike on it? that's exactly what I want to do.. build a tear drop type camper with a bike carrier up front for the dual sport.

    Was there a particular reason why you power your camper with a portable power station as opposed to a conventional 12v automotive type battery? Really enjoyed watching this build series.

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  Před rokem

      I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. I didn’t want to have to run solar, or have batteries that I need to keep up with in the camper.
      I also wanted the portable power station for other uses so being able to remove it from the camper was a must have!
      Thanks for watching James!

    Hey man I've been binging this series and I love it! I actually had the same idea for the motorcycle rack on the tongue of my trailer. Just wondering, how much do you use the motorcycle rack? Is it worth having it there or does it just take up space?

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  Před rokem +1

      I’ve used it a few times! Comes in handy. It’s nice that it’s also removable so it doesn’t have to steal space if not necessary 👍🏼
