  • We begin planting corn with the John Deere 4640 and the 1760! First we had to wrinkle out any problems there could've been, such as a blown hydraulic hose and a corn seed lodged in one of the seed meters that was making a clicking noise!

    How Farms Work is a CZcams channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. Our videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and GMO crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us.
    How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
    Be sure to subscribe for new videos every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 11AM Central!

    What is popup is it an sterter fertiliser

    • @HowFarmsWork
      @HowFarmsWork  Před 6 lety +18

      The pop-up fertilizer we're putting down is 6-26-6 with zinc. It's meant to get the seeds an extra kick to get out of the ground and get started.

      @claytonwales6049 Před 6 lety +2

      Oh

    • @terrellfarms1
      @terrellfarms1 Před 6 lety

      Ryan is calling it correct. I've been in the farming industry since the mid 80's and it's always been called "pop-up". It is totally different from "starter" fertilizer as "pop-up" is made to be placed directly in the seed furrow and make the corn "pop-up" out of the ground faster. It only helps for a about a week or so till the roots find the other fertilizer.

    • @robertreznik9330
      @robertreznik9330 Před 6 lety

      Soon it will be common to control the placement of the stream within the seed trench. I just put capture insecticide. We put the fertilizer behind the closing wheel. It is easy to damage germination putting it that close.

    Great videography, Ryan. While most of your various farming tasks are absolutely routine and perhaps mundane to you, the way you capture them for the rest of us makes them compelling. You are right that the Earthmaster VT is a real gem and a valuable asset for your operations. When it comes time to pay the piper for that piece of equipment, it should be less painful knowing how useful it has been for the last couple of years. Regarding CZcams, I sincerely wish they'd find a way to get back to doing business the way they did before the Adpocalypse and all the shadowy censorship that came in its aftermath. I'm a sufficiently "regular" viewer that notifications have never been an issue for me with your channel, but when I'm supposed to be moderating for Travis on his livestreams, I often won't see anything about it for several minutes after it starts. Hopefully, you have a financially-viable path forward once your network goes away, because you are one of the best creators on this website, in my humble opinion, and you do deserve some kind of compensation for the extensive work that you put into all your videos. Thank you for keeping us in the know as much as you do with what is going on from your perspective.

    Although I dont always comment. I always enjoy your videos along with Travis Videos as Well. I gotta say although I was raised on J.I. Case, IH & A.C. Farm Equipment. My famlies Roots go back with Deere to the Popping John Days on my dad's side. Along JD Construction equipment. (Steady problems with a 4320 or 4520 Deere back in th day made my dad's family go to another brand just before I came along)& my Mom's side of the family Used Deere lawn equipment in a small lawn care business when I was growing up. I always liked the sound of 40,50 &55 Series Deere Tractor. Rocket always looks ready to ride. It's Sad that CZcams is cutting back on paying Channels. @ 1st I thought it was just certain style of channels but now it seems to be all across the board. & the more I look@ it, it boils down to greed. 😒 Mack

    I think its a combination of the ads not generating enough sales and CZcams's need to always be getting higher revenue for the shareholders, so they will give fewer pennies those creating content. The exceptions will be people who are already rich and famous who can draw large crowds and of course sponsored channels.
