He had made a series of valedictory speeches over the month between the announcement. Had he spoken, Brown's people might have taken it as an attempt to upstage the new PM.

it is remarkable to think that Her Majesty was appointing her 11th prime minister after 55 years. she has appointed 3 prime ministers in her reign that has lasted 68 years. Her reign has been a remarkable sweep of our history.

Wasn’t the whole thing a little Blairite love fest? Blair and Cameron were practically brothers, it was around this time the HOC became a personality parade and not a good clean thrashing out of ideas as it’s supposed to be, the end of two party politics in Britain.
As ever thanks for the uploads!

Fascinating take. Definitely made me think. I enjoy the occasional heavy sesh and trying all the different cask ales. I do question sometimes why it is so ingrained in our culture.

For context between 1970 and 2010 the UK had six different PMs in a 40 year period, the current Tory Government has had 5 in 14 years. That’s why the country is broken, politically unstable countries do not have successful economies.
