Thank you for this archive! Still of interest so many years later.
Wow, I remember when a prime minister resigning was a big deal and didn't happen every month!
It'll happen in early July
Thank you SO MUCH, Mr Boothroyd!
His he related to the brilliant Betty Boothroyd?
Huw Edwards is just so good at this.
Been looking for this! It’s weird that Blair didn’t speak outside No. 10 before leaving though?
He had made a series of valedictory speeches over the month between the announcement. Had he spoken, Brown's people might have taken it as an attempt to upstage the new PM.
David Boothroyd yep it would have been another political battle between the two on who’d have the more powerful speech
Ahh I see - thank you!
it is remarkable to think that Her Majesty was appointing her 11th prime minister after 55 years. she has appointed 3 prime ministers in her reign that has lasted 68 years. Her reign has been a remarkable sweep of our history.
who cares the queen has fuck all to do with it

Wasn’t the whole thing a little Blairite love fest? Blair and Cameron were practically brothers, it was around this time the HOC became a personality parade and not a good clean thrashing out of ideas as it’s supposed to be, the end of two party politics in Britain.
As ever thanks for the uploads!
Hear, hear!
I remember watching this live and having a terrible feeling watching his Jag drive through Westminster. Luckily I was wrong!
Fascinating take. Definitely made me think. I enjoy the occasional heavy sesh and trying all the different cask ales. I do question sometimes why it is so ingrained in our culture.
Why is Tony Blair and New Labour suddenly trending right now?
Why do you think?
The British public are waking up to the fact new Labour was the best government we ever had

@@Secret19977every bit socio economic data actually backs up the statement above, the Blair Government was the peak of the long post war boom. It’s been steadily downhill since 2010.
"..When I left School in East London Tower Hamlets..1995. Tony Blair's charisma and eloquently, articulated interested me, into local politics... I volunteered to become a Youth and Community Worker.. Under PM leadership there have been, plenty of funding for social development and regeneration-development for the most deprived, Communities in the UK.. Sadly - so the illegal, invasion of Iraq without WMD: Immensely tarnished his, caring and compassionate good causes.

Did you record the Sedgefield by election result? I think it was also held on the same day as the Ealing Southall by election.
The Sedgefield and Ealing Southall byelections will be coming. However there's an accidentally omitted byelection which will be uploaded first.
All this shows is that the treasury and other government departments are way too big
For context between 1970 and 2010 the UK had six different PMs in a 40 year period, the current Tory Government has had 5 in 14 years. That’s why the country is broken, politically unstable countries do not have successful economies.
June 1983 - May 1994..... TBGB stood together.. SOLID...
AFTER JOHN SMITH'S DEATH.... LE DELUGE... MAY 1994 - JUNE 2007..

Tony Blair was the greatest modern prime minister it’s been down hill ever since just look at the current one Boris the clown!
This has got to be a joke...Iraq War? Spin doctor mania? I’d take Boris any day. Least he respects the results of Referendums.
@@josephhilditch5086 both of them are shite. boris will avoid any question about his comments on islam, blacks etc and he clearly is a remainer and just maniplulated that to get him in office
Tony Blair destroyed Northern Ireland As Well.
@Gavin Martin he is and was a remainer before he chose his side and many senior conservatives and friends of him wrote this. he also wrote a piece backing the remain side in the telegraph before he came out as a leaver. nigel fucking farage is more genuine than him
Gavin Martin
