Yes it was. Derek had recently stepped down as Peter Mandelson's researcher and was running Progress at this time; he also had a commission to write a book on the new government's first 100 days.

@@DBIVUK I thought it was possibly was, thanks for that information and confirming it 😊. From following the news about Derek, I knew he was involved with Labour especially around the ‘97 era and of this Election. As someone in my 30s, when this went on, I was too young at the time really to get what Elections were about and was annoyed when they used to take the children’s programmes off air to broadcast it. 27 years later, I totally get it and honestly think we could see this scale of things happening again (at time of writing) in 3 weeks time on 4th July. Great to watch this back, older, wiser and more informed now. Thanks so much for uploading this piece of memorable history 😊

not sure why everyone here seems so keen on glazing what was ultimately a load of bollocks. it is widely accepted now that the iraq war was one of the worst mistakes in modern geopolitical history, his defences here are poor and he definitely is struggling to make a convincing argument. his ability to make you feel like he answered a question when he didn't is not relevant to whether he was a good prime minister or indeed a good person.

I love the personally assuring the viewers/voters. The hotline direct to Blair. I believe in it 😀 (my rejection of the fashionable je ne sais quois public saying voting is a waste, when for me it's the one time I get to play a life game!) It's then sad how this all dissappear when one enters government. The phone lines go and contactability down the drain 😔. But the important thing of all is I believe whenever politicians do speeches. They try to deal with real life problems instead of much of the fashionable public (prior to 2016) telling us what to wear or how to be in aimless crowds and parties lol.
