Yes, I believe that what Chelsea are doing is great. they are on the path to greatness, they are only a few more million away from acheiveing much success - Brighton Fan. (unrelated)
This is what they said in Jan
Just oooooone more player...
Lmao
I really believe Evan Ferguson could take Chelsea to the next level... So... 100 mil?
Only a few more players from Brighton and they’ll reach champions league spots
Fact: 90% of owners stop spending hundreds of millions every window right before their team hits big and wins the league.
Yet city spend north of 200m£ this summer
This is a bogus statistic. Let’s have some examples because I can give you some that contradict what you’ve said. Chelsea, Man City continued to spend right up to when they won leagues
@@VegaPhil bruh it’s a meme, look up “fact: 90% of meme”
Real and true
Some of them will keep spending so much and never win the league with getting worse result, unitil they sell the club then.😂 Its maybe the case with current Chelsea owner, when he dosent actually know which are good crucial poayers to brings success for the club, when he only buys somewhat good football players that dont really have good chemistry with eachother. Man City stays as the best Premier League team, because they know that De Bruyne and Haaland are very important for the team and they have a lot of other great players with great coach Pep Guardiola, so thats why Man City keeps winning the Premier League.
For the last 2 decades, Chelsea's entire club vision has been "sugar daddy"

225m for caicedo and enzo is ridiculous when you realise that caicedo had 1 good year of football in his life and enzo was less than 10m a summer before. Chelsea don't need better players the need a better scouting and recruitment department.
I disagree.
Liverpool agreed to put so much money on Caicedo.
And Enzo would have gone for a gigantic sum too, even without Chelsea.
The market is just what it is.
if we didnt get enzo for 100m someone else would in the summer, theres no doubt about that. also, what we are doing now is just what brighton did in the past (surprise surprise we took their head of recruitment) but on a much larger scale - everybody hails brighton for this strategy but when we implement it its 'directionless' and 'dumb'. the team will only get better as time goes on
Are you trolling? Seriously?
@@vincesalamander5980but they arent proven players you could get players for less money that are already as good as caicedo and enzo will ever be
So they payed the amount the players might be worth one day but they basically have to hit on all of them
@@vincesalamander5980also yeah but nobody would have given mire than 70 to maybe 80 for him
Concerning the FFP, I have two hypotheses:
1) this one is based more on the payroll, and I'm pretty sure that despite all the transfers, well that of Chelsea hasn't exploded at all (I mean, also look at all the departures)
2) they don't care, but like, completely, telling themselves that at worst they will get a mini fine
I don't know enough to comment on the first point, but I think number two is spot on!
Yet another banger, easily one of the best sports channels on CZcams!
Chelsea is in serious trouble if they don't win trophies in the next couple seasons, or qualify for CL at least.
would love to see Chelsea outside UCL next season again.
@@mangoesboycourse you would
Yeah. But if any club can win trophies while in utter meltdown. It's Chelsea.
As a Chelsea supporter for 26 years, I’m definitely skeptical on this approach, I hope it works but man I can say I’m not terrified of the long term ramifications of this his new strategy
Can't*
relax ,at most we got punished by ffp and suffer a few transfer ban 😂
ITS INIESTAAAAA!
Skeptical of what? Theres nothing new to this.
Big club with lots of money buys young players with said money.
What do you think all of the "Super League" teams do every year? Buy old, shit players for nothing? Not buy at all?
Then you don’t know what you are talking about. I wish we had this approach since 2013.
I highly doubt this model tbh
Todd Boehly has fallen in love with FM and he’s carrying it out in real life 😂
First time I’ve seen your channel. I really appreciate your no nonsense pithy approach without waffle. Very nicely presented, dry informative, and many thanks for your time and effort 👍
Welcome! Since you liked this video, you should definitely check out the previous video from three days ago called "the insanity of the football transfer market" which my brother said was the best video he's ever seen on the subject!
If you take a brief look through this channel, you'll see a lot of other football topics as well. 😎
He’s not that dry. He’s always got some spicy memes floating about.
Also likes to hide the fact that he’s a Man U but I guess we all have skeletons in the closet.😊
In the summer of 2012, my local NHL team signed the top two free agents available to identical 13 year $92m contracts. At the time they were 27-28, elite players, in the prime of their careers. 9 years later the team decided to buy out their contracts and suffer the salary cap penalties ($7.5m in dead cap space EACH) because things got so toxic. As you can imagine, wasting $15m of an already limited NHL salary cap budget on literally nothing has been crippling and has made building a competitive team near impossible.
Just a warning to Chelsea supporters about what can happen when your team gives the wrong player a long term contract
There is no salary cap in the premier league, you can write a bad contract off and take a one time hit to profit/loss, or sell the player and book a loss (or profit, as the player's cost is diminished over the contract). It only affects one year from a FFP perspective if that is the case.
Your videos are really really good, man. Respect!
When a journalist asks the manager about one of your player and you didn’t even know you have him. That pretty much sums up Chelsea for you.
When I see football iconic upload, I watch - It’s simple. Keep up the good work!👍
Watching Chelsea struggle is delicious after all this money. Chelsea used to have this huge club feeling now they seem like Villa with a ton of money
Chelsea fan since the 80’s. I’ve seen us get relegated before, and I’ve seen us on the brink of bankruptcy. I stood along the Fulham Road watching our open top bus parade despite losing the 1994 FA Cup Final. I’ve enjoyed 2 incredible decades of success that 10 year old me could have never dreamt of when he was mocked for wearing his Chelsea shirt round London when all his mates supported Man United and Arsenal.
I hugged my Dad as we watched us lift the European Cup in 2012. A memory I’ll never forget!
But this change of ownership really does feel like a return to mediocrity akin to what United have been through since 2013. You can’t stay at the top forever. This isn’t Scottish Football! That’s how things go!
I don’t believe in these new owners. They don’t seem like they have the club at heart like Roman did. They seem money motivated and the club and the fans are just customers! Our 2021/22 squad that dominated Europe has been sold off. 29 players in this summer. 45 out! A BILLION spent, and we haven’t signed a proper striker!! These 8 year deals are a genius move if we succeed. But if we fail, it could be disaster for the club! It’s a decade long gamble! A bunch of Americans with no experience of running a Football risking the existence of a 118 year old institution.
Spot on!
Well said. Just hoping for the best now
Success aside, my chelsea fan friend complained that there is no soul/leader this team now. He misses John Terry or Lamps or Petr Cech etc. Who gave the fans someone to rely and relate to, not this endless stream of mercenaries. He thought Mason Mount was gonna be that guy or Abaraham
Gallagher, Reece James, chilwel is even doing it. Colwill is showing good signs. Enzo is feeling like a leader and future legend more and more this year.
@@djacks247Fun fact: since Enzo joined he only won 4 PL games. 2 against teams that have already been relegated and 2 against Luton and Bournemorth. Clutch player for all these relegation 6 pointers.

Update of 1 day later:
Concedo is vastly overpriced (To the surprise of absolutely no one).
Lavia chose Chelsea "for the good of his development". Is 4th choice DM, and does not even get elected for the bench against Nottingham Forest.
Chelsea spent more than 400m Euros in 1 month. Today, they lost to one of the teams with the worst away records in the entire history of the premier league 1-0, unable to even score once at home.
Some phenomenal decisions made here. I hope Caicedo and Lavia enjoy their development time.
Lavia is not match fit, he's not even going to Belgium duty to work on his match fitness. He'll regularly be in a 3 man midfield with Caicedo and Enzo this year.
They also removed all their high earners from their payroll in 1 transfer window, 13 players earning over 100k p/w have left.
@@theinternetofrandomthings7796 "not match fit" despite doing a full pre season with Southampton.
@@theinternetofrandomthings7796 because they got rid of all their veterans apart from Silva. A team needs both veterans and young players to win games. Lack of experience is what caught Arsenal out last year and it will also undo Chelsea. That and the fact that they bought about 50 overpriced players from Brighton
The youth movement is clear for everyone to see. last summer could have been a lot better, but almost every transfer since the new recruitment team was brought in has been good.
Last summer, there were only Tuchel and Boehly at the club. There weren't even any sports directors anymore.
At the time I have the impression that it was really buying so as not to appear stupid and to do nothing in the summer.

Good cuz caicedo has been over your team too

Love your work, fellow South African 🔥🔥
Great video man!
Good video, just my 2 cents: In general, medical staff do not get players injured. They treat injured players and deem them medically healed after finishing treatment course. Bedding those players in and making them match ready - it is often down to the coaching staff, the football guys.
Now, players can get injured after contacts they received during games, such as a leg-breaking tackle. But training load contribute quite greatly towards the squad's injury situation. In Chelsea's case, starting from the beginning of Boehly's regime, they inherited Tuchel's unfit squad, then Potter was incapable of improving fitness, making Chelsea's squad going down with injuries and poor results. Pochettino is a Bielsa disciple, already (in)famous for his heavy training workload, thus current Chelsea's injury situation. But at least Chelsea players are sharp and match ready, which shows on the pitch.
Love the consistent uploads. Keep ‘em up ❤️
That Hudson-Odoi referenced aged well! :D
Tinashe!!! How about a video on David Beckham?
In light of recent success of Inter Miami it might be very interesting to see how he was as a player and then as an entrepreneur
Better take than most sensationalist videos that mischaracterize the spending. I would have loved a titbit about how player wages are also a factor. Chelsea used to overpay players and that arguably hurt us more than paying the club upfront and tying pay to performance.
As a fan of the club for 15 years, I'm excited and scared. However one thing is for sure, if you are Chelsea fan you will be tested on your loyalty and will never be bored.

Chelsea do have a lot of talents for the next seasons. If they all develop how they hope, they'll be a real force in a few seasons.
They just don't seem to really have a scouting department. They aren't surprising with some young kids from south america we haven't heard of yet, they sign after breaking through for the highest possible price. What their scouts have done, some average football fan watching some games could've easily given them those names (I could've for 90% of those signings)
It'll be interesting to see if their strategy pays off. The success rate on these transfers needs to be exceptionally high. They've been bailed out by Saudi Arabia taking players, but i'm not sure that's a future proof repeatable thing.
0:50 the have to tap a mugshot 😂😂😂😂
As a Chelsea fan, I'm apprehensive. There's been so much money spent and not much to show for it so far; last season descended into a bit of a farce. Sure, it'll take time to develop the younger players, but at the same time, I can't help but wonder if the club are being fleeced with some of the transfers. The price tags are ridiculous for the players we've got, and that can't be helping the confidence of some of the players who haven't been in great form, e.g. Mudryk.
I'm worried that if Profit and Sustainability/FFP decide to actually show some teeth that we could be in huge trouble. I feel like Boehly and co. are banking on a top 4 this season, which I think we'll have to really fight for.
Brighton are definitely laughing.
my brother was 5 years ago at stamford bridge and he said the stadium was rusting everywhere, i dont think that changed since then
the amortization over 8yrs was a brilliant idea gotta give to boehly. however recruitment hasn't been specially terrible compared to arsenal and man u (70 mount, 80 anthony, 75 for havertz). and also dumping unwanted players for a nice fee was also pretty smart.
Juve did and got caught DOE
After giving out your 1st 2 eight year player contracts, the rules were changed, so now you can only spread the payments over 5 years on your balance sheet. You can give players 20 year contracts, but now 5 years is the maximum period you may spread those transfer fees over. 😮
You seem to have your head in the clouds if you think the recruitment hasn’t been terrible. Every player you mentioned that man united or Arsenal overpaid for you can find examples at Chelsea that match or almost double those prices. Caicedo, Fernandez, Cucurella, Mudryk, Fofana and that’s not to mention all the others that weren’t quite as expensive but sure all hail “genius” Todd Boehly
@@amlmorris Not for the FA, only relevant for UEFA. The rules also only came in this summer, so the first two transfer windows and all those players are on the old rules.
Great idea until that player turns out to be ass and you can’t sell him
I think people should look back at early Abramovich's era. At that time he also spent an equivalent of 1 billion euros, but ended up winning lots of things and breaking records. The problem with Chelsea likely rest with the coach staffs. They had emerging and prime Mourinho at that day and nowadays they had Potter, Lampard, and recently Poch is appointed.
I rate Poch very high as a Spurs fan, but i doubt he's one to rally these players to perform at the maximum level.
You not wrong even as a chelsea fan i gotta say all this speeding isnt showing on field. Alas i have faith we can raise up back.
That one player on the bench is no longer there
That opening segment with Brighton 😂😂😂. You killed me mfo🤝🏾. As a Chelsea fan I am both hurt and entertained by the truth you spit
I see football iconic l, i thumbs up instantly
We need to just buy the entire Brighton scouting squad. 😂
Lmao I was waiting for you to say what that conversion would be in rands.
One of those Trust The Process kind of things. Or maybe Boehly bought the club and thought he and his fellow investors would make money. Bought all the young players in the hope of selling them for profit. Perhaps mid table in the top flight is good enough since the money earned is a lot.
I wouldn't even say that Chelsea had overpaid for a lot of these players.
Like yes, for the big signings like Enzo, Caicado, Mudryk they overpaid. But given the situation they were in for those signings, the price was always going to be high.
For most of those players in the first team though, they've been well priced. Players like Badishile, Jackson, Gusto, etc
I think we all have been waiting for this video
can i know which pinkxo music it is, I can't get it off my head, please
the song that starts the video
Hudson Odoi is now at Nottingham Forest lol
We tend to also forget that over the last 15 years Chelsea has been in top 5 selling clubs in the world also... that balances the books nicely.
But when you become a mid table club it becomes harder to sell players for good money
Hardly makes a dent
In terms off FFP it does. FFP accounts over a longer duration chap...@@danielgreen8406

All in or all out, go big or go home
5:32 MAN You did Romelu SO DIRTY :D !!!!
Most Chelsea fan treat this season as the coming together and building chemistry then next season we should be challenging for major titles
Well that would mean that they would have to also spend a good amount less in the next 8 years. So it will hit them hard in the future.
Dropping this a day before Chelsea losing to Forest at home is even more hilarious 😂
Chelsea need patience, yeah very true , the fans but I don't think it's a good idea for the recent managers to do some unnecessary experiments whiles they know they already have a very sure way to winning games easily. You don't expect fans to stay silent after loss when they know the managers are those who employ a bad system for the players available instead of the right formation for the particular players available which makes them the most effective, anything less is failure. This situation has been obvious from the latter days of Tuchel till now.
The strategy looks crazy at first glance but Chelsea have the right sort of manager for all the young players they’ve bought. In 2-3 years time, their transfer fees and contracts might not matter. They might all peak at a time when City players are getting older and they need to redevelop their squad again.
Not on today's evidence
It’s gonna end very badly and those fans that watched with glee as they overspent on players who they locked themselves into keeping for practically their whole careers will see their club sink to new depths
There are few things more satisfying than seeing Chelsea spend over a billion on transfer fees in 3 transfer windows and still play like crap 😁
Whether what Chelsea is doing will work or not remains to be seen, but if it does work they will have one of the best teams in the league for years to come
I think losing nkunku so early into the season will really hurt them
Brighton have effectively usurped Chelsea in the table by ripping them off. Bravo Tony Bloom. 👏
Chelsea are fine…for now. The first £600m was capitalized over 8yrs (hence the 8yr contracts) and the remaining money they spent must be capitalized over 5yrs which is roughly £35m. So when you overlay one capitalized amount with the other, it’s about £135m/yr which is fine. The issue could become if they don’t start increasing their revenue soon (winning competitions and getting into the CL) is one risk while buying players with potential could mean some shine (good) while others may flop (bad) which means they won’t be able to get them off their balance sheets. FFP breaches currently? No. FFP problems if they don’t start winning comps and get back into the CL? More probable. Add an increasing number of flops and that combo could be very problematic in not so distant future. Only time will tell…
1:09 "but I have to admit, they've taken a bold strategy" - Yeah... I don't think anyone is struggling to admit that bro lol. Getting into an MMA cage and attempting to fight with 1 arm behind your back whilst hopping on 1 leg would also be a "bold strategy"... it wouldn't make it any less insane either 👍
Ayyy my guy has a beard now
This guy is football’s MKBHD.
What's great for Chelsea this season is that they're not playing in any European comedys (they can focus on domestic competitions), nonetheless it still seems the club is in trouble
Trust the process
The biggest mistake Chelsea made was letting go of Jose. Yes they still won some titles and CLs along the way, but Jose's teams and the foundation he (and to some extent Ranieri) laid, are why Chelsea became a global brand. Never lose your brand ambassador just because the eggs don't make the omelette.

You'll all be applauding Todd Boehly's strategy in a few years, when it comes good.
Buying Strasbourg and and trying for Sporting was no accident, and this type of building is unprecedented in the world of football, with only Red Bull coming close.
They are literally just buying the biggest "wonderkids" that anyone and everyone already knows about. Giving 7-8 year contracts to them is just insanity considering so many wonderkids come nowhere close to reaching their potential. The ones that do usually need frequent starting time. Simply buying all of them and expecting a super team to just magically form isn't how any of this works. It's only going to get worse for Chelsea not better

Since the arrival of Ten Hag, Man U has nevertheless gotten back to the top level.
The problem is that today the level of the Premier League is incredible.
You have like 6-7 clubs that have the level to play the C1, and as many that can try to win the C3 or the C4 (I mean, the proof last year).
It's maybe easier today to win the C1 than the PL.
