SL Lenses are nice, and easy, but so big. Contrary to many views, I also think that they lack character.

Yea SL optics is really modern and clean. It depends what sort of photography you do : I would imagine SL being useful for fashion or commercial. The resolving power compared to M APO variant is unparalleled. Regarding the size : actually if we ignore the 50 lux or the zooms , the primes are actually ok compared to Jap brands. How it stands against those Mirrorless giants though - we have a video coming out soon to answer that question.

@threeamigoshk Thank you. I love my 50mm APO, and will occasionally sacrifice my back for my 50mm Noctilux.

It was the SL 35 APO that Peter Karbe claimed to be their sharpest rather than the 28

I didn’t know that about the 35 so thanks. I think the APO SL lenses in general are still highly acclaimed (source: red dot forum) and Leica call these the state of the art optics. Sharpness isn’t the only feature as they have a higher contrast also in focused areas also.

The Summicron-SL 35 mm f/2 handles point light sources (stars) very well, even wide open.
