Rhaenys doesn't want to lose House Velaryon's inheritance to Rhaenyra's bastard, she wants it to pass down to her bloodline and her children's. In order for that to happen, Rhaena has to marry Lucerys. Having one of her granddaughters as Queen and another as the Lady of the Waves and Driftmark is better than Alicent's promise. Rhaenyra also has more dragons, and Rhaenys knows that.

And dont give me that bs that she should've sided with Vaemond. She knew the political tides turned dramatically to Rhaenyra's favor after Viserys came in. And with Rhaenyra still being queen, Jace would be king and Luce would be lord of the tides. Theres no contesting that as these are the kings words. So she might aswell make her Granddaughter as a future queen. And with Luce being Lord of the tides, she might aswell marry her other granddaughter to him to ensure that Driftmark in the future would be ruled by actual Valeryons.
Yes she believes that Rhaenyra killed Laenor. But until she sees hard proof that she did kill Laenor, these are just suspicions. And not to mention, she'd rather have her daughters have a happy future than feed her desires.

True. But Rhaenys did not support Rhaenyra because of that. She did it for her and her granddaughters' survival. If Vaemond were to inherit Driftmark, he would cast them aside and their fate would be unknown.
If Luke lost his claim to Driftmark, the realm would see it as an affirmation of his illegitimacy which would cause Rhaenyra to lose the support of the lords of the realm. And yet you forgot that it was not Rhaenyra's fault that they couldn't have a trueborn Velaryon child. Rhaenyra said it herself that she had wanted a legitimate child with Laenor, if only to quell the rumours that her other children were bastards and even that Laenor could not deliver on. You're so bent on hating Rhaenyra for something she literally had no control over. Her arranged marriage with Laenor was one that benefited both houses and something that Corlys had coveted ever since Rhaenyra's mother passed away. Remember Corlys wanted Viserys to wed a child Laena. And Corlys was no fool either. He knew the boys weren't of his blood but he didn't care. So long as they carried the Velaryon name, he was willing to play along.

@@s_shaleh It seemed Rhaenyra really enjoyed the deception of marrying Laenor but giving birth to Harwin Strong's children, it was a big middle finger to everyone who insisted she must marry out of duty and follow the rules. It was a big "you can't tell me what to do" gesture.
If she truly wanted to have kids with Laenor then she would have at least one kid with Laenor over the years. It's not as if being gay renders a man infertile, Laenor could have done the deed with his partner and just given Rhaenyra the material she needed for pregnancy.
To me, it seemed they both enjoyed their sham marriage and enjoyed how Viserys never allowed anyone to bring it into question. I don't think they ever put significant effort into having trueborn children.

I laughed so hard during the talk laenor had with rhaenyra. She made it seem like she gave him the world. You gave him nothing that he didn't already have. His mother is a Targaryen, his family is wealthy and well off. He has a dragon. All you gave him was worthless bastards and a space next to you on the throne that he never wanted. Rhaenyra is the most selfish, annoying character even over Cersei in my opinion.

That's a lot of jumping to conclusions there. 'Laenor's body' was burnt to a crisp, there were no distinguishable features about the body, that was the only way they could make it convincing, so any recognisable scars would've been well and truly gone. Besides, Rhaenys said in this very scene she believed Rhaenyra had her son killed.
