DREAM BUILD ROAD BIKE - Sonder Colibri Ti
Vložit
- čas přidán 15. 10. 2019
- Titanium bikes have a huge global following and recently we had the chance to play around with the Sonder Colibri Ti frame.
To match the clean lines of the Titanium frame we decided to use Wireless SRAM RED eTap AXS, this also complimented the raw silver colour of the frame.
For the cockpit we chose the Zipp service course bar and stem, this bike isn't about huge logos, it's about subtly and the service course components from Zipp embody this in their smart, functional apperance. For the wheels we worked with the British wheel brand Hunt which produce some incredibly lightweight, high performance and cost effective wheels for both road cycling and mountain biking. The super clean and simple finish also compliments the rest of the build.
I hope you enjoy the final build! It truly is a custom build with each individual component chosen specifically.

My father was a bicycle mechanic for many years. I worked in a small town. At that time I didn't have many options on the market so he bought some and started renting. Early maintenance was on their own bikes and over time on their own. I grew up watching my dad ride and fix bikes. The way you show it in your videos takes me back to the past, with a sleeping passion. Unfortunately I never learned to do what he did. Congratulations and thanks!
I have no idea how I got here, I dont know anything about bikes, nor do I care BUT, that was absolutely beautiful and it just made my whole day.
Thank you.
It's kinda meditative...
It's relaxing... To see the bike taking shape... Thanks for a great video!
There is something very pure and very very beautiful about this build. Truly the most serene and remarkable build to date.
Finally! A bike that's not made of carbon. I do wish you did more of these, along with some steel road bikes as well. Lately there have been too many dual suspension carbon mountain bikes. #steelisreal
#tiisfly
These videos are making me impatient to get the final parts for my Bianchi build. I could start now, but I wanna do it all in one session like these vids.
I love these bike build videos, watching how all parts of this beautiful, well designed roadbike put together in such a tender way, that i can feel the passion beyond while listening to this ambient sound mood filling music, is pure relaxation for me. Thank you very much for sharing it. I have build up all of my roadbikes by myself. And then riding it, is so amazing. You can feel the relationship to your roadbike as if it has got a soul.
Timo Regert well spoken. 😊
quarantine got me watching dreams builds for days hahahaha
Yeah same
Dear Cycling Community
Please drop the vinyl electric tape and use felt Tesa Tape. It changes your life.
Love,
the Motorcycle Community
Have you ever used it under bar tape where it's subject to shear forces in addition to compression forces? How well does it hold up compared to plain old electrical tape?
@@Kuriketto Better. In every way. and it doesn't leave the gross residue when you remove it to put on new grips or cables.
@@imabeapirate What other benefits are there? If you use the 3M electrical tape it doesn't usually leave any residue, but I'm open to trying new things if there are benefits.
Nice to see some Hunt wheels, love em!
man this is so beautiful, it made me cry
Love it.... Titanium frame is my dream build in whole my life.
Lovely to watch. Very therapeutic. Apart from my own bikes my experience has been with cheap bottom of the market bikes that take a fair bit of swearing and disassembly to rectify the ‘job’ done at the factory! Soon to build my new gravel bike but will leave the videos to you.
What a beauty😮
2:26 Lol happens to me all the time! I instinctively start screwing in the bb the wrong way only to then realize it and do it right
Pretty sure he does this on purpose to prevent cross threading. Now you have an excuse!
It is a good practice to turn the cup the backwards until you feel the beginning of the cup's threads "drop" into the beginning of the shell's threads. Prevents cross threading.
Argin Herapetian haha I guess so! But it looked already partly screwed into the shell so I’m not sure he was feeling for cross-threading
if you look close in othervids he is doing the same.
Yuuup
I don't even ride, but I can watch these videos all day.
i always wanted to have a roadbike like that
Love your videos.the way they are done is like art every time love it.
I love these bike build videos😍
Titanio, carbono y electronica quien da mas
ohh 😮 i really love that Roadbike !! 😍😍😍
Really my dream build.. You should wear brown bartape, I swear itu will get it on my sleep everyday
ALMOST as beautiful as my 97 Boston Merlin Road with Ritchey, Record, Chris King, Nucleons, Alien USE, and Fizik Pave !
This is art! And the video is off the charts good.
Those disc brakes are awesome 😎
wow! that silver frame looks sleek! 👌👌👌
YOUR BIKE IS SO BEAUTIFUL
What a beauty!
I love every your road bike dream build video. 👍👍👍
Great work once again provided by you Sir Milner
Just a suggestion: show how the mechanics wrap the bar tape around the shifter!
I second this
+1
Michael Fuhrmann GCN or Park Tool have loads of videos on wrapping bar tape and all the permutations of it.
@@ble9512 I think he meant it more as it will make a cool aesthetic aspect of the video, not for educational purposes.
Past the hoods, the bar tape is wrapped in the *wrong direction* anyway. The way the dude wrapped it, it is prone to come undone when you tear on the bars on a steep climb for instance.
You're the best
It’s good to see your use in plenty of grease
I would use Copper or Silver Anti Sieze for the Bottom Bracket !!!!!!!!!
Even on the Headset
Crazy bike!
Finally a new road bike build
Hey whats for the 1st dislike for?
He the only one who hate ge millner
I love this + with your music.
Wow nice
Marvelous indeed.
Thank you from pacific north west
Nagyon ügyes
Very nice bike/build. Would be nice to see a rimbrake version once and a while, though ? Or are they not sold anymore 😱
WOW !
Just ordered one of these for myself from Alpkit (admittedly different build). Hope it's put together with the same TLC as it'll have its work cut out for it here in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for sharing.
well shot, nice music, very relaxing, nice bike! looks like a joy to ride.
what is the song?
My dream bike
Wow!
Beautiful!
Spectacular work! I have to find your house to steal this ... Today I dreamed of her and I had to make this comment! The great work continues, even if it brings me insomnia :-) Big hug from Portugal!
Nice to see so many different brands being built. Also, good to see a Titanium frame too. It’s so rare I get to see the wonder material nowadays in a sea of aluminium and Carbon. Hell, steel is almost as rare too!
It’s also good to see that a messy workshop is the universal language of the bicycle mechanic. My bicycle stand in work is like the eye of a tornado; nice, clean and tidy, surrounded by a swirling mess from the other lazy sods that surrounds me. Lol.
Awesome as usual
New video new bike
Looks so clean
Alloy might be cheaper, Steal might be slicker, Carbon might be lighter, BUT ONLY TITANIUM will combine most advantages of all the three other materials in such a satisfying way and will deliver an awesome look in it's natural beauty without any paint job........and last but not least it will do it for the rest of your livetime !
Still Praying to the gods for another gravel bike video
Beautiful RB
Wow my friend it so very beautiful bike nice
Hey.. can i suggest that...
You should also build fixee gears?.
I mean.. thats the only missing dream build owo
Fatbike assembly would be really interesting just saying :p Anyway I love so much these videos!!!
Wow tecnology
Road bike Mountain bike which is better? Bike wins. Tremendous videos.
Wowwwwww!
awsome video man! That was a nice piece of music as well! Man I love your job...
Nice video for relaxation
Oh I love this video!
Dream bike 😍
I always use pink grease and get told off by my fellow cyclists glad to see I'm not alone.
Realy Very beautiful . Brawo.
I would abosolutely love to see an Ibis mojo being built!!
Step 1: slam stem and immediately cut steerer accordingly. Step 2: proceed.
if the stem is not slam than for frame does not fit
@@involuntarysoul3867 Glad you are not my mechanic, head tubes differ in length based on brand and type of bike and most need a spacer for proper fit....
@@jaycahow4667 just buy a frame with taller stack
The wireless sram alone costs $4.5k in my country. This bike is only a dream to me, but a beautiful one.
Awesome video 👍
I'm filling fress😎
Thanks for this video 🤝
More road bike pls !!!
1; no serage to the dynamo key; 2 taking the disc with almost the whole hand3; hanger ribbons tight at the beginning then tighter at the end 4; have never made a saddle adjustment on the bike foot but on the ground!
Nice work 👏👏
From 🇮🇶
What steerer plug do you use? I hear people recommending leaving 5mm of steerer tube above the stem and using a space, but you cut it right off.
I would have cut it longer and put on a couple of spacers as well until It had been ridden to make sure the height was correct. Not all stems are the same height either and without a spacer you might have to trim it or add a spacer later if you switch stems.
amazing derailer
this is love
Some mechanics do not use Torque Wrench at the time of recording to save time. Surely the torque is checked later, I believe.

i need one bike give me one please
nice biuld but:
0:35 why don't you tape the forc befor cutting it?
1:39 why do you tighten the expander with the ball head?
4:39 why don't you use carbon grease for the carbon handlebar?
4:47 why don't you grease the stem screws?
you must be fun at parties
The Zipp handlebars already have a rough surface in the clamping area and the bolts on the Zipp stem are pre-greased.
I also heard you should tape the fork when cutting, but actually I haven't seen that in any bike build video I've watched recently (so that suggestion is probably an urban myth or outdated).
Edit: on second sight, these Zipp bars actually have a smooth surface, so using carbon paste would indeed have been advised to clamp with lower torque. Maybe he did.
That was a good job
Nice job beautiful Bike 👍🏼
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Focus SAM build would be cool to see.
Wow I’ve been really enjoying your videos. Relaxes me to the core. But also got me thinking, you might want to consider ASMRifying these videos? I don’t know how you’d do that but I think you might be in to something.
Wow cool
Can we see a Kingdom Hex or Switch on here soon? Or a Nordest Lacrau or Bardino, both amazing bikes
Nice build dudes! Although, I liked the MTB in the background more 😂😂
Wish i had a roadbike of my own,
😍😍😍
i love this bike, ship it to me please xD
Nice bike 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Titanium frame? Titanium frames are always so clean and minimalist.
Just the slightest breeze should be enough to get the crankset spinning.
Are you gonna do a cargo bike build sometime?
Beautiful, might have to do one of these myself! Great taste in bike tools as well haha
Waooowww......😍😍😍
Copper grease with titanium !!!
