DREAM BUILD ROAD BIKE - Sonder Colibri Ti

  • Titanium bikes have a huge global following and recently we had the chance to play around with the Sonder Colibri Ti frame.
To match the clean lines of the Titanium frame we decided to use Wireless SRAM RED eTap AXS, this also complimented the raw silver colour of the frame.
For the cockpit we chose the Zipp service course bar and stem, this bike isn't about huge logos, it's about subtly and the service course components from Zipp embody this in their smart, functional apperance. For the wheels we worked with the British wheel brand Hunt which produce some incredibly lightweight, high performance and cost effective wheels for both road cycling and mountain biking. The super clean and simple finish also compliments the rest of the build.
I hope you enjoy the final build! It truly is a custom build with each individual component chosen specifically.
If you're interested in getting your own Dream Build and want to find out more about the bike/components in this film then please head over to the web and social links listed below:

My father was a bicycle mechanic for many years. I worked in a small town. At that time I didn't have many options on the market so he bought some and started renting. Early maintenance was on their own bikes and over time on their own. I grew up watching my dad ride and fix bikes. The way you show it in your videos takes me back to the past, with a sleeping passion. Unfortunately I never learned to do what he did. Congratulations and thanks!

Nice to see so many different brands being built. Also, good to see a Titanium frame too. It’s so rare I get to see the wonder material nowadays in a sea of aluminium and Carbon. Hell, steel is almost as rare too!
It’s also good to see that a messy workshop is the universal language of the bicycle mechanic. My bicycle stand in work is like the eye of a tornado; nice, clean and tidy, surrounded by a swirling mess from the other lazy sods that surrounds me. Lol.

I would have cut it longer and put on a couple of spacers as well until It had been ridden to make sure the height was correct. Not all stems are the same height either and without a spacer you might have to trim it or add a spacer later if you switch stems.

The Zipp handlebars already have a rough surface in the clamping area and the bolts on the Zipp stem are pre-greased.
I also heard you should tape the fork when cutting, but actually I haven't seen that in any bike build video I've watched recently (so that suggestion is probably an urban myth or outdated).
Edit: on second sight, these Zipp bars actually have a smooth surface, so using carbon paste would indeed have been advised to clamp with lower torque. Maybe he did.
