¡Viva México!
Alright let's be honest - Mexico gets a lot of hate. Especially in regard to American news stations, and I'm not quite sure why!
Our friendly neighbors to the South are just AMAZING in every way possible - from the hospitality to the nature to the cuisine. I put together this full-length documentary about Mexico which highlights my most recent trip there - from Mexico City to Oaxaca to Chiapas to Guadalajara to Taxco to Tequila and everything in between. After watching this documentary, I hope you will be convinced that Mexico is one of the greatest countries in the world!
I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments below - what are your favorite places and regions in the country? Please comment below!

I love Mexico, and while I am not Mexican, my partner is Mexican. On the other end, I am Italian, and our cultures are super similar. I feel like looking at what we have in common is vital, and I have been to Mexico... It is so beautiful!!! People are so warm and nice, super funny and love to dance, drink, and pray. TBH the food of Mexico is the best, too (I say this as an Italian).
It's interesting you say that. I am from the US of Mexican descent (1st generation American) and I've always noticed the similarities in Mexican/Latin American and Italian cultures. I've even personally met Italians who consider themselves Latino which I think is absolutely beautiful and heartwarming and honestly caught me by surprise.
The reason I say that is because in the US we're only really ever exposed to Italian-American people/culture and it isn't uncommon for some of them to react negatively to be mistaken for Latino. Not super common but I've unfortunately seen it myself firsthand. I of course understand that not all feel this way, just an observation.

@@jandafifakiddy702 There's a big difference between pride and veneration. It's totally fine to be proud of your country as long as it isn't in a nationalistic or mean spirited sense ("My country is the best, all others are trash" for example).
I myself am from the US but of Mexican descent from my parents. I'm proud of both being American and my Mexican heritage equally. I'm not one of those people who think the US is the best country on earth but it made me who I am today and I wouldn't trade that in for anything.
And to add to that, Mexico generally has a very negative reputation internationally (some of it justified unfortunately but way overblown). Ask the average Mexican living in Mexico and you will meet some of the happiest and content people anywhere. That dichotomy means that Mexicans will generally respond more vocally to positive, more accurate depictions of their country. It isn't all murders and narcos down there despite what the media will have you believe.
If you still don't understand then you're likely young or just being contrarian.
I spent 6 months in Mexico from September 2021 to march 2022 all over the country from chihuahua to Durango to San Luis potosi to Guadalajara, Mexico city, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Yucatan and loads more... Never had any safety concerns, people were friendly. I'm a Brit to and my Spanish isn't perfect but if you show you are trying to learn you are treated warmly.

@@Student0Toucheroh stfu. If you think the whole country is a "war zone", you've never been in one and you don't know what you're talking about
I’ve lived in border states for almost 40 years and Mexicans are wonderful people. Mexicans mixed European and indigenous culture to create something brilliant just like Africans mixed with European culture to create something brilliant in the US. In general, they are creative, loyal, hard workers, family oriented and religious. The food, art and craftsmanship alone make it impossible to be bored in Mexico and I hope Americans continue to learn to love and appreciate our brilliant southern neighbors.
Overall Latin America is mixed. Mexico specifically has Indigenous, European ( mostly Spaniard and Portuguese) and African (3rd root) ancestry. Later on mexico open it’s doors to China, Korean and the Philippines. That is why Asians are considered our fourth root.
Not really as you think. Most of these Mexicans look indigenous and they're pretty much the basis of the country. Plus the European admixture is Spanish, not Portuguese.
With the difference that Spanish conquerers didn't commit the quantity of genocides and enslavery that English colonizers did it in their territories.
I'm saying this because many of our current representers don't care to lie or guilt Spanish people for most of the atrocities or acts of corruption that actually have happened after the independence war.
Being _"la leyenda negra española"_ or _"black legend against spanish"_ the main reason why we don't prosper and we have been the useful dumb for the USA government and other European countries.

I definitely recommend the night tour in the Chacahua lagoon, near Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, it was an experience that changed my way of seeing the sky, I was amazed, they take you to the center of the lagoon that also has microorganisms that shine when shaken the water, apart from that, you will be able to appreciate the sky in total darkness without light pollution, you can even see the nebulous space and many stars, just try not to get too far from the boat as other boats pass by that take other tourists to do the same.
Greetings and hugs from Mexico City!!! ❤🇲🇽🙏🏻😇
Each state in Mexico is like it’s own little country
Different traditions, gastronomy, different environments. But all Mexicans are proud to be Mexican. VIVA MEXICO!🇲🇽
Love from india (tamilnadu),
its one of the best engaging travel documentary i ever seen, thanks drew for showing us the hidden beauty of Mexico ,its absolutely heartwarming and fulfilled to see culture, thoughts, monuments, foods ,heritages and especially people's of mexico
Love you pal.....keep rocking as always
Thank you for making this Drew. I am an American living in California and I LOVE Mexico. I go whenever I can. Unfortunately, we get a lot of unjustified negative propaganda here in the states about Mexico. So much so that I know Mexicans living here who think Mexico is too dangerous to travel to. There are many places in the U.S. I would be much more cautious about visiting. My favorite places in Mexico are Coyoacan (Mexico City), Merida and a small town in the rainforest called Xilitla.
They don't want Americans leaving the country So they make other countries look like shit so Americans wont go
Personally, living in the states, I feel that a lot of people here don’t understand the love we have for Mexico, just watching the intro and listening to the mariachi. I get emotional it goes that deep and trust me. I love the United States. I am a patriot, and I am grateful for this beautiful country. But I love for Mexico and are culture is other world like
I've already been to mexico 4 times and it's gonna be my fifth in about a month. The people are so nice and they work really hard. They really care for visitors. So Mexico is my favorite vacation spot. And there us nothing bad about it like people on the news say. The country feels like a different planet.
Tremendous country!. History, traditions, culture, architecture, art, gastronomy and natural beauties!. Too much to explore and discover.
Mexico has the largest number of world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in the Americas!!!!

This time last year I was in Oaxaca. The best food I’ve ever had and Mezcal is king! I loved it so much that I went again in November and enjoyed it even more the second time 😂 The culture, people and natural, rustic beauty of Mexico is unbelievably diverse and unparalleled.
Cheers from 🇨🇦
Hey Man! My parents are from Oaxaca, I go there at least once a year. Glad you loved it my brother. I would love to visit Canada one day, I just haven't gotten around to it
@Michelle estoy en guadalajara en 40 horas!
I am indonesian and i have mexican friends from university. i was surprised to know that there are many similarities between mexico and indonesia . never been to mexico, but one day i will!! its an amazing country after all :D
I go to Mexico for several weeks every winter. I began going there for the sunshine and I go back for the people. I feel safer in Mexico than in the US. Mexico is one of my favourite countries to visit.
I agree that the Mexicans are some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet! I met a lady in Istanbul who said if I ever wanted to visit her home city I would be welcome, and that's how I can say I've been to Mexico City 😁 Didn't feel dangerous at all walking around the city centre or Chapultepec park, the only things to watch out for were quesadillas which were spicier than they looked! 🤣
We say in Mexico “Mi casa es tu casa” my house is your house. We truly mean it 😀.
I just came back from a 2 week trip from Mexico! I did Tulum, Mexico City and Puerto Escondido. I loved it and can't wait to go back! I miss all the tacos although I was craving veggies at the end of the trip. I was dreaming about broccoli and zucchini lol
¡VIVA LA MĖXICOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I don't think you know how proud I am of my irreplaceable country! And the fact that one of my favorite youtubers says it's the most underrated country in the world, I don't think you realize how happy that truly makes me.
It’s Not viva la haha
Mexico is definitely on my To Do List, such a diverse landscape. It's the same in every Country around the World, if you keep your wits about you, be aware of your surroundings you should be safe. Even in Leicester in the UK where I live there are certain areas that I wouldn't go especially after dark~ then again I live in a quiet village on the outskirts so I don't really like the ghettos 😅.
Hi Drew,
Im from the Philippines. Thanks to your fair documentary, I will someday visit Mexico...
Love the Philippines 🇲🇽❤️🇵🇭
your welcome in México any time
Agreed! But I like live all the way in Asia, UAE and I don't have the time to visit other countries. But I would love to visit Mexico one day.
I loved puerto Vallarta. Went for a wedding and stayed at this amazing Airbnb (the host is Liz she’s the best), ate the best food, met the nicest people, got the best massage of my life and just had a great time!
This is not just a travel review channel....This is a cultural documentary that makes me appreciate our planet and I will support this channel till I'm an old woman. 👍🥰🥰
Hahahaha.
Just wanna make a lil' note.
The guys in white at 18:33 are not Mariachis, they're "Jarochos" performing what is known as the "Son Jarocho" which is different from Mariachi music.
It comes from the state of Veracruz. It uses string instruments such as the Requinto Jarocho, Jarana Jarocha and Arpa Jarocha as basics. It can include other instruments.
The music is often paired up with a set of dancers on a Tarima, a wooden block under which you stomp to create a rythm.
The song performed in the video is "La Bamba" which is by far the most popular example of Son Jarocho.
This is very condensed since there's a lot more than what I just said, neverthenless I believe it was important to make that distinction due to the music styles being very different.
I was born in Mexico and lived there 23 years of my live now I’m living in the Netherlands but nothing will make me forget home and when I saw your video I cried so much, thank you for this video I haven’t feel so good till I watched ❤
Just got back from an awesome week in Mexico... 4th time in a year and I ALWAYS feel safe
Thank you for showing my country in a positive light ❤️🇲🇽. ¡Viva México!
Respectfully: How bad is the Cartel problem in Mexico?
@@solvingpolitics3172 Depends what state in Mexico you go to but for the most part they won’t mess with tourists.

Mexico - the World's Most Underrated Country.. Said no one, ever. People like it and go there for all time every time and again.
YES ! totally agreed. thank you for sharing the message...Mexico is a gem I've spent almost a year there over three visits from Europe and love the people and the energy. A place of truly ancestral origin. Mexico City is becoming so expensive now with the migration of US people living there now. This seems completely unfair as the Mexicans are considered 'second class' in the USA. My friend of whom now many are Mexican - are truly the beautiful ones.

Yes, Mexico has so much to offer; but I did think it’s been a top tourist destination from people all over the world. Have you thought about coming to Canada?
@@iluvanimals4evr México is top 3 the most visited country in the world
As a person with half mexican blood, I always wanted to visit the land of my ancestors.
The United States' villinization of Mexico also irritates the fuck out me. Mexico seems really chill and Mexicans always treated me with respect, kindness and brotherly love. Even treating me as apart of the family.
I have family in Mexico too. Love you Mexico from California!
This was wonderful- my ancestors were from Mexico City and migrated to San Diego. I just made a batch of molé Poblano for Christmas. I really miss my Mom watching this…😢
It drives me insane how there’s a hardcore stereotype to Mexico and Mexicans. The woman I am talking with is in Mexico and she has shown me so much about Mexico and how beautiful it is, beyond the media. She’s made me want to go so badly to experience it!
Yes, Mexico is a nice place
Be careful meeting someone online internationally, especially from a place in South America, I do not mean to sound stereotypical as I have Mexican and Honduran and Italian family members myself and still in the old country also but it is very common to be lured down there only to be robbed in the best case scenario and held for ransom / kidnapped / possibly murdered for absolutely nothing. I love Mexico and am fascinated by it. But it truly can be the last bastion of the Wild West sometimes, I do not mean to discourage you from going. Only be very careful, self aware, carry yourself with respect and ask lots of questions, especially if you do not speak Spanish.
you should come here, my boyfriend is a Swede so he lives in one of the safest places in the whole world, he never felt in danger when he visited me and he's been in here in 4 ocasions
Viva Mexico 🇲🇽 Thanks you for exposing the Leo's and showing the its a country worth visiting and ENJOYING. BIENVENIDOS 😉
The immense love that I have for this mystical land I've been blessed to be born in is hard to describe. My eyes get filled with tears just to think about Mexico's beauty. The land is so generous and mexicans have the biggest hearts (especially countryside people). I could go on and on for hours... In my mind, I see México as a beautiful and strong, humongous indigenous woman with her long shiny black hair, bearing the forces of nature in her skin. She wears astonishing hand-made clothes, and she emanates immense power and tenderness at the same time. I see her as a prolific mother, lovingly nurturing all her children with unconditional love. If I were to reincarnate, I would ask God to allow me to be Mexican time and time again.
I have always been deeply in love with mexico and have wanted to live here all my life
it's an amazing place!!!
I don't think Mexico is underrated. Most of the world knows it has amazing culture and history and also that it's a safe and chill place to visit.
I Have to agree! People don’t pay that much attention to the news
Traditional media like CNN, Hollywood for decades showed this mexico in chaos, NETFLIX and youtubers are showing a real mexico, yes in chaos but inside that chaos the beauty of the country .
For the most part, I would have to agree with you! BUT, we have to admit U.S media news outlets like to paint Mexico as the bad guy and focus on the violence, bad situations, criminals, cartels, etc. when Mexico is much more than that, but I'm glad this documentary shows the rich cultures, people, customs, and ofCourse the Mexican food. Proud to be Mexican :)
I don't think it is undervalued, but I think that the entire image that most countries have of Mexico is very generic and that makes me think that its true image is really undervalued 🤔
Y'all should really check out Oaxaca! That place is amazing. Mexico has so much more to offer than Cancun and Cabo San Lucas.
I'm from the US and I love Mexico and its people and food/culture. They are very friendly and warm. Ive never met a bad Mexican person before. They know how to party plus their culture and festivals are colorful and exciting. Plus they work hard a lot. Ive been learning spanish for 2 and a hald years now tbh. I want to visit Mexico City as well as Puebla someday. I don't like the AMLO guy though. But mexicans are nothing but great 😊
The thing with Mexico that I love is, well....EVERYTHING, the people are my favorite on the planet, for a million reasons, their hospitality is amazing, they are great cooks (They really love cooking, trust me) I came to a point in life, in which I am like, I really want to live in Mexico, and never go back, Mexico is everything I ever wanted in a country, great food, amazing people, the Mariachi bands, the parties, the culture is unique and very interesting, my best friend is Mexican, she is, by far the most kind humble caring and amazing person I've ever met, I really want to go to Mexico and meet her her family, and her friends, life since she is around, isn't the same, I feel a lot better than what I used to feel like, I feel amazing just because she's around, Karla, I love you so so much for who you are, and what you do for me as a person
