This documentary is long overdue! It highlights the highs and lows (mostly highs) from my 5 weeks traveling around Iran, to 8 different regions and 14 cities and towns. Join me as I take you across Iran's breathtaking landscapes, from the magnificent deserts to the majestic mountains, ancient cities, and bustling bazaars. Discover the untold stories and untapped beauty that lie beyond the headlines, showcasing the true spirit of the Iranian people and their warm hospitality - which might just be the absolute best in the world.
I am not blind to the fact that Iran has been going through a revolution since Aug 2021, when a young lady was killed for not wearing her hijab in public - so I wanted to give my platform to various Iranian women to open up and share their own personal stories about the situation. You can find their interviews at the very end of the documentary.
Thank you for watching, for all of your comments, and I'd love to hear from you in the comments below. Have you ever been to Iran? What are your honest thoughts about the country?

It saddens me how much we are being lied to by our media. Thank you for showing us this beautiful country full of amazing people.
Make me thinking that how important world peace is.
It's not our media it is our political right wingers who have played this "anti iran game" since 1980 and we lost out on a chance to have a normal relationship with Iran because of it.
if you really want to know the history of why our governments and media are so anti Iran, to only need to look at the history of the Anglo Iranian oil company (now called BP - British Petroleum) save operation Ajax. links below...

In 1998 I traveled with a British tour group for 3 weeks around the entire country. We had a lovely time. Our Persian tour guide was fun and he introduced us to so many things not included on the tour. We even were invited into a wedding celebration in a small village that we had stopped at. We had free time in the evenings and did not have to be with a guide...we were free to explore. The people were so friendly and when they found out I was an American, they told me to tell my people to come back to Iran. At one park I went to, a person who was with their family enjoying a picnic came over to me and offered me a pomegranate and said, "Welcome to Iran". I felt very safe the entire time I was there. I hope one day I will be able to return. Khodafez.

We are traveling from Belgium to Asia by land, and Iran is definitely our favorite country on the way ! We spent 2 months there and were impressed by the kindness of the people. We were invited every single day to people's house to have a dinner or drink tea (sometimes even beers from the black market ahah). It was sometimes impossible to pay the bill at restaurants because they didn't want our money because we were "guest".
Thank you so much for this documentary, people have to know the truth about this awesome country and its population ❤️

As an American, I can tell you that in Iran you can say anything you want, however, if you say something against the U.S. government or the Zionist regime, you will get jailed like Assange and criminalized like Snowden. To me the Iranian government is better than all Western countries because Iran has never invaded or occupied any country ever. I'm a Kiwi who traveled overland from Pakistan in 2009 with the intention of spending 1 month in Iran. However, I was unfortunate enough to get hit by a car in Yazd which resulted in both of my legs being broken. I was taken to hospital, was operated on, and spent 5 months recovering in a guesthouse in Yazd. During my time there I had the most amazing experience! The people were absolutely amazing, incredibly hospitable, who made by stay that much better. The generosity that I experienced was surreal and one day I plan on returning to repay the kindness that was bestowed upon me. So much love, I cannot say one bad thing about Iran or it's people. Everything happens for a reason in life and as crazy as it sounds, I'm grateful that this happened to me here ❤❤❤

My husband is Azeri from Tabriz and I can’t wait to go and meet all of the family there. I’m American. Thanks for making me feel safer about traveling there in the future.
Lots of love from malaysia to the iran people
I lived in Iran for a year working for the Iranian Air Force until all foreigners were told to leave the country during the civil upheaval in the 70s. Loved the Iranian people, the food, the lovely places we were able to visit and explore, the bazaars and the jewelry.
Thanks for sharing

I would love to go to Iran. Beautiful place and people. A fusion of Europe and the Middle East. The country is modern, yet traditional. Another awesome episode. Thanks Drew!
This is such a fantastic country. Very very beautiful. I love the Iranian people and their culture.
Hello friends, I am Iranian and I wanted to say that we are not living, we are just passing the moment, many of us are just breathing. Even now, I am having a hard time communicating with you because of the anniversary of Mehsa Amini, the internet was cut off. Thank you to all of you who support us. I would like to travel to all of your countries and become friends with each one of you. I am 15 years old. My father died. I work hard to help my mother. The financial situation of our country is not good at all. Those who are responsible only take our rights, friend. I am going to show you the sights of Iran, especially the Khuzestan regions, everywhere in my country there are remnants of world history, I hope I can show you 🙂❤️
Hoping for freedom 😔❤️

The Iranian people, so beautiful with such sincere politeness and warmth. Can't express my sorrow in words for what they endure polically, like doves in a cage, I can only pray for the Light to open their prison door and set them free.
I thought an hour and forty four minutes....good grief! Again as always you showcased the country and in a warm, sincere manner with no bias....all the food looks so appetizing. The beautiful colors and the markets a visual feast for soul ✌️
Iranian history is incomparably impressive.
And Iran itself is quite beautiful.
I am a fan!
if the Islamic regime of Iran didnt exist it would've been even more beautiful and maybe one of the best countries in the world
I am Iranian and in your opinion thanks

If you are a fan of history i suggest travelling to iran. In iran things rarely change, for example when you walk in village in yazd, you feel the streets have been like this for at least two thousand years :D. Jokes aside, there are abundant of historical landmarks here, in my friend's local village graveyard, there is a grave about 900years old!! Next beside is 30years old.
Thank you for showing this beautiful country 🙏 Visiting Iran has been one of my dreams because I'm so in love with their language, music, literature and culture and now I'm even more thrilled to experience this lovely country.
Much love to you Drew and much love to Iran 🤍

man I got all happy seeing this as a persian. Thank you friend, I haven't even traveled around my own home country before, so this was amazing.
Ahh the motherland, so refreshing to see positive videos of my beautiful Iran because I'm so over the negative views, comments and the all stereotypes of our country/culture/people. It's sad that when living abroad some of our compatriots feel the need conceal their ethnicity due to the racism, harassment and constant discrimination. Thanks Drew 🙏🏼 great content! Glad you loved Iran. I myself am proud to be Iranian 🎉❤
God bless you.
Its fatherland. We call it fatherland

I want to express my gratitude to you for creating a documentary about my country. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing my country through your camera lens and appreciate the effort you put into it. It makes me genuinely happy to see someone care so deeply about my country. Additionally, I am grateful for your generosity in giving Iranian people a chance to speak at the end of the documentary
It brightens my heart to know that there are people in this world like Drew who show that all hope is not lost for these countries. I see this from the bottom of my heart. Thank you, Drew.

*TOP TEN FACTS ABOUT PERSIA*
• Persian is one the oldest language known to mankind. It has been spoken for almost 3500 years. This makes it one of the *classical languages of antiquity* with unique poetry that still exist today. It has contributed numerous words to the vocabulary of the English language, like "paradise," "pyjama", "rice," "amazon," "rose," "saffron," "asparagus," "spinach," "shawl," and "pistachio." Iranians are also the inheritors of the world's oldest calender system dating back to more than 3100 years. The Persian calender is based on a unique solar counting system and is thus the most accurate form of counting years.
• Persian is a member of the *Indo-European language family.* It shares fundamental characteristics in terms of both grammar and vocabulary with its relatives like Latin, English, French, and Russian. Words like "baradar" for brother, "madar" for mother, "pedar" for padre in Spanish (father), "dokhtar" for daughter, "to" for tu in French (you), "andar" for inter, "do" for dos in Spanish (two), "zamin" for zemĕ in Croatian and zdmyla in Russian (earth), and even "shahr" for "skaan" in Old Norse (city), show the strong and old ties of this language family.
This similarity in language is due to the *Yamnaya culture,* which is believed to be the precursor to the *Proto-Indo-European expansion* that originated from the steppes of Central Asia where Iranian peoples come from.
This suggests that the customs and practices of Indo-European peoples across both Europe and Asia are rooted in the Yamnaya culture.
• Iran possesses a versatile array of natural attractions. This includes *grandiose mountains, verdant forests, panoramic landscapes, sunny coastlines, and abundant natural resources,* like minerals and metals. It is known for producing an abundance of pistachios, pomegranates, berries, saffron, and turquoise. The Persian turquoise boasts unique shades of blue that sets it apart from other varieties.
The Iranian Caspian Horse belongs to the first domesticated equine species.
Iranians have a *long history of horsemanship and equestrian sports.* Persian games like Chowgan date back to ancient times. Iran is known as the birthplace of horse riding and the earliest practitioners of this art have been Iranian peoples. The influence of Persian horsemanship can be seen in many modern equestrian sports like Polo, which has gained worldwide popularity.
• Persians were trailblazers in wearing *trousers and footwear.* This distinguishes them from the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans who wore gowns and cloaks. The traditional Persian dress is specifically crafted to endure Iran's chilly weather and showcases the ancient Iranian culture's practicality and ingenuity.
In case you're wondering, the thumbnail (now finally edited, I think it was brought to Drews attention) and some of the background music in this video have nothing to do with the traditional clothing and music of Iran/Persia.
Sandals and loose clothing would not be the smartest fashion choice for Iranians who are natives of elevated and mountainous terrains with heavy snowfall in winters.
Majority of the musical selection in this video also bears no resemblance to actual Persian music.
• Iran's native and ancient name means *"Land of Aryans,"* and it has been in use for over 2500 years. The name "Persia" was used by Greeks to describe Iran.
• The *Persian/Iranian World* is an ancient name for a region that spans from the Plateau of Iran to the Caucasus and Central Asia. This region houses Iranian customs, languages and peoples. *Persian architecture* reflects ancient philosophical, mathematical, and mystical themes. Persian architectural features and techniques can be observed in many regions with historical Persian presence like in Mesapotamia and Egypt. The ancient shades of turquoise are revered in Persian culture and depict the link between the earth and the unknown spiritual world. The architecture of Samarkand reflects a classical Persian city of antiquity. The *contributions of Persian scholars and poets* like Avicena, Rhasis, Biruni, Farabi, Khwarazmi, after whom the word "algorithm" is named, Ferdowsi, Khayyam, Saadi, Hafez, and Rumi, to the fields of philosophy, literature, art, musical theory, chemistry, mathematics, astronomy, and metaphysics, have bestowed the world with a wealth of Persian knowledge and wisdom.
• Persian cuisine is known for its ancient and unique gastronomic heritage. It *blends sweet and sour flavors* together and features fragrant and fluffy rice. Saffron and pistachios are conspicuously used in Persian cuisine and impart a rare flavor. This cuisine is also notable for its sour notes, which can be overpowering to those unfamiliar with it. The Iranian palate is accustomed to this sourness and can even enjoy the tartness of limes on their own.
• Persian decorative arts and crafts have deep historical roots. Iranian artisans are known for their skillful designs, brilliant colors, and remarkable craftsmanship. This is reflected in various mediums like carpet weaving, painting, calligraphy, pottery, and metalwork. Persian paintings are acclaimed for their precuse embellishments and lively tones. These *Persian styles have had a major impact on the world* and inspired and influenced artists and designers across different cultures and periods. Persian art has been a main source of inspiration for European artists during the Renaissance period.
• The tradition of weaving carpets was invented in ancient Persia, when Iranian nomadic peoples used simple weaves of fabric to stay warm on cold and damp grounds. Over time, this basic need evolved into a sophisticated art form that produced the visually most beautiful patterns. *Persian carpets are praised for their beauty* and have been highly valued by royality, nobility, and collectors across the ages. Persian culture holds rugs as prized possessions that carry deep sentimental and cultural meaning. Today, Persian rugs are highly prized and sought-after decorative items around the world. Iran remains the center of carpet waving with unique and ancient styles.
• Persian culture has inspired and influenced people worldwide. This includes minds like Voltaire, Montesquieu, Nietzsche, Thomas Jefferson and many more, who were admirers of Persian culture in the West.
The enduring legacy of Persian culture is evident in its profound influence on the world and attests to its magnificence and endearing qualities!

What I really enjoy about your channel, Drew, is that, despite your success, you still seem to care a lot more about the culture, history and people of a country. A lot of travel influencers nowadays seem to only care about getting the most luxurious accommodations and going to the most fancy looking restaurants, but you still tell stories and spread knowledge and awareness about other countries.
