The presenter should get familiar with the features of the car before he produces reviews: The claim that there is no cupholder in the back is simply false. The fact that he does not know how to open the flap for the windscreen wiper water is quite sad; same applies to getting the door handles released (there are released by swiping over the handle not by pressing them). The whole video is a proof that the presenter does not know what he is talking about.

  • @jessiec8838
    @jessiec8838 Před 2 lety +15

-The wiper fluid drawer opens by pushing in on the panel nearest the drivers door but only works while the car is unlocked
-The trunk opens by pushing in on the top of the Mercedes logo, not just by foot or remote
-The Rear seats do have cup holders. The first push reveals a device holder and a second push reveals the cup holder
-Complaining about the interior color as if it’s a design flaw doesn’t make sense…some people like light interiors, that doesn’t make the car bad
-You can’t complain that the voice command doesn’t work 100% right when you add an “uhhhhh” in between hey and Mercedes
Its like the car was delivered and nothing was learned about the car before the camera was turned on. Sure your opinion is fine but my issue is this review is now on CZcams where it shows no rear cup holders, only foot/remote trunk access, etc when that’s not true but people will think it’s true because they trust that you would know better than anyone because you’re a popular car reviewer with 260k+ subscribers. I’ve always loved this channel but this video feels like 50% “boomer complains about modern car” and 50% car review.

...hopefully ppl are intrigued about the car enough to actually go check one out or visit the dealer; and/or do more research and not rely on one source (curious if other reviewers will "miss the rear cup holders). If you are in the market for this car, it might not be your first MB and you would probably know most of the unique/hidden features. If it is your first MB, I'm guessing the sales associate will spend several hours w/you to get you up to speed. I don't know how long Ryan has w/the car, but he has to figure out the 300 page owner's manual and the 300 page MUX manual prior to shooting. Really interested people will do more research; curious people will watch another review or read the comments to see what others have to say. The EQS is a great car, w/flaws, like most cars out there. Owners who daily it will have no issues once the learning curve goes down. There are a lot of features to become familiar with and both the driver and passenger have their hands full.

Couldn’t have said it better. Like this channel a lot, but this was definitely a FAIL. From complaining about having no cup holders in the rear…to “ hey…uhhhh Mercedes” repeatedly, while complaining about the feature not working consistently was a joke. I watched the entire video because I actually like this car a lot. Heck, I even LOVE the interior color! Well done Mercedes’…. Poor job on this one Ryan!

On the note of the door handle. You’ll quickly get used to it.
One thing that bugs me about when people review cars (not exclusive to this channel or anything) is when they talk about it being hard to find something. They completely ignore that most people will quickly get use to it. Being their daily driver an all. It’s not like the handle keeps moving around to a new spot every time you get in the car. The first time someone hops in this car they will think where’s the door handle. Oh there it is, done. I’ve now remembered.

Hi, in general I like your videos and tests and reviews but I have to tell you you went beyond in nagging about this specific model. I am not saying this car is perfect but it is not all bad as you reviewed it. A lot of those features that you hate a lot of people likes them so repeating the same sentences for 3 minutes about how the car makes you adjust the steering column in the position that you dont like is not necessary. Said it once we accept your point of view. I never drove EQS but I think (as normally is) for the back row cup holder it is hidden behind device holder in the armrest. And also the fact that in EQS the passenger can use their own screen and watch a movie without disturbing the driver because the screen would be blacked out for the driver at the time is a great feature that you missed. In the end I think keep the interior evaluation shorter and just go through things you like or dislike fast so it is not boring.

When using voice search for navigation, I have found that there are times when the Mercedes agent cannot locate a destination. When this happens I activate the Android Auto and just say, "Hey Google" and I will always find what I want and navigate with Google Maps. The EQS 580 you were testing had the base trim level (Luxury) with the upgraded front seats. This is the same configuration that my 580 came with. If you want a fancier back seat you can get the upper 2 trim levels. Since I rarely carry rear passengers I don't miss rear seat amenities. I do miss a 12 volt cigarette lighter type socket which the EQS does not have. In spite of being supplied with a tire puncture repair kit that requires a 12 volt socket!. Coming from a 2014 Model S I like the big central screen just fine and my wife likes her screen as well. I love the well controlled and very quite ride. The EQS 580 is faster than my Model S was but a bit slower than what a 2022 Model S Long Range would be (0-60 in 3.7 seconds) but I have a round steering wheel and stalks.

Thanks for the review. I am not a car enthusiast so my opinion may be shallow.
    Loves:
    - The screens!
    - The light interior, which I’ve never liked, mainly for the same reason mentioned, how do you keep it clean!! ?! and usually interior light colors is a gross tan or brown shade that looks like vomit. But I really like the clean, and spaceship look of the white. Would have to regularly clean or get something protective. It would be worth it for me.
    - Majority of the Features.
    - The available options.
    - The ride!
    - Ambiant lighting change based on speed.
    - Smooth ride.
    - The quiet.
    Hate:
    - The price!
    - The front grill, I hate all the newer Mercedes with this similar look. HATE.
    - The wood. I couldn’t agree more about how the wood paneling just does not match, I know it’s a Mercedes staple but it just doesn’t work with this electric car design. They need to come up w/a new staple for their modern cars.
    - Panoramic roof. I wish it were always an option b/c some ppl like myself never want it.
    - Many of the options should be included.
    - The 2 rim options, they’re terrible.
    - Agreed that some of the ergonomic design is faulty. I’d constantly hit the hazards & other wrong buttons.
    - Body design, basic. doesn’t look like a Mercedes. Interior far out bests the exterior.
    - Did I mention the price?
Overall like the car, but I’d never spend 120k on a car I just like. Will wait for all the kinks to be worked out. I never buy first generation.

Having driven this car now for six months as a daily driver I can assure you that everything has been designed and implemented with a purpose which becomes evident as you use the systems and integrate them and tailor them to your liking. It all has meaning once you take the time and trouble to understand the systems. It’s the most sophisticated car I’ve ever driven. I’ve driven every S class for the last 15 years and this is the best and most technologically advanced vehicle Mercedes has ever created. Said that you didn’t have your mind open enough to appreciate what before you and provide an honest assessment. I hope Mercedes never loves you one of their cars or any reviews in the future stick to the rice rockets, there’s a market for all reviewers, even luddites like you.

Excellent review as always. So hard to comment because IF I had a question, you answered it before I ask. As a Mercedes driver, I figured this vehicle would NOT meet or exceed the standards of the ICE versions. And you confirmed my suspicions. lol Which leads me back to, I hope the EQE will have learned from the downsides of the EQS and be improved upon in all areas you found lacking here. Which is a lot. But I can tell you straight away, the Mercedes sedans don't ordinarily give you steering input to enthrall you. I went from BMW to Mercedes and that was the #1 thing I had to contend with. The input of driving was gone. Great machines, but lacking in some key areas I agree. I drive the C class and the backseats are non-existent IMO. I took 3 people on a trip down to Portland from your neck of the woods and I have no idea how they coped with the lack of leg room. Although, the head room was ok. Anyhow, I look forward to your review of the EQE and when released, the EV equivalent of the C class. Which they have already ruined the badging for it since the EQC is an SUV that the USA won't get until sometime in 2025.

aerodynamics, the rounder the body, the more it slips through the air. Its Mercedes doing a test to see, "What will the market allow us to do?" Rather than BMW making a more pragmatic approach with the new i series of EVs, like the i4 being the 3 series EV, and the iX being the X3/X5 EV.

    1) need a passenger for the passenger screen to work - also while driving
    2) pre-heat the batteries in EV cars an you’ll get up to 200w in the eqs
Pls prepare by reading the manual before reviewing

Its "Hey Mercedes" together , not "Hey" pause to think and then "Mercedes". You can pause to think what to say after "Hey Mercedes" but not pause in between the call phrase . If anything , The voice is too sensitive and keeps coming up too often under normal conversation.
